Hi guy's and gal's 3 days ago i decided to build a 1590b squonk box mod for the first time. i like allot of citrus eliquid's the issue is citric acid eats plastic tanks and any plastic it leaks on. i have been threw 3 regulated devices this year due to leaking and now my tesla touch is starting to show signs of deterioration and it's only 2 months old. so if manufacturers are not going to build a durable and dependable device i will. i decided to use the gene200 chip from a kanger drip box 160 that failed me when the plastic battery bay door latch melted from leakage. so i'm building a dual 18650 squonker with a regulating vv/vw/tc chip all squeezed into a 1590b box. i bought my parts off ebay if you spot a issue let me know. i will post pictures when the parts come in and along the way threw the build. i will also post video's on youtube so people can learn how to build and recycle old devices.

the case i ordered is a black anodized 1590b magnetic box. does anyone want to help me make a choice on design looks? i was thinking about hydro dipping it with a cool design or sticker bombing it then clear coat maybe even pay someone to custom air brush it. i would love to get a harley quinn/joker love scene air brushed on it nothing overly kinky of course but i don't know anybody good enough for something like that near me. please help me choose!

me to i really enjoyed the drip box 160 until the fluid dissolved the battery latch. it was 3 months old before it failed on me so the chip is still fairly new making it a good donor for this project.

Why don't you make a simple mech squonker?

don't get me wrong i have no issue's using a mech mod and i understand them very well. the issue is i have kids that when my back is turned might/will try to play with it. the last thing i want is a kid losing a hand or getting scared for life because of my vaping habits. i choose error on the side of caution.

Nothing wrong with that.

i stopped by home depot today and pick up a few supplies. schrink tubing,14 gauge wire, epoxy and flux. i already had a tube of silver solder on hand. yes i know the flux i bought is mostly for plumbing i couldn't find any rosin flux anywhere. but a quick check online seems to say you can use water soluble flux on circuitry as long as you wash it off with deionized water and let dry. i'll try soldering with my flux core silver solder first but usually there's not enough flux in the wire to do a good job. here the photo's http://imgur.com/a/qdV3h

ill be using chips from some donor mods..One is an FSK chip used in the Hohm wrecker G2 mod and another one will be a DNA 75 chip and also have a Yihi 350 chip to use.

this is a first for me i figured i would post my trials and tribulations. also there's no info online from what i can find about people using chips from old devices so i figured this would help a few people. but since you have done a few mods before do you have any idea how to mount the chip into place only idea i had was to epoxy it into place?

You most likely will have to epoxy it or hot glue it in place..Hot glue will allow you to remove it at another time..epoxy, not so much...If you use a DNA chip you can buy chip housings for them making the install a breeze...Id go with hot glue over the epoxy.

i didn't even think about a hot glue gun thank's you probably saved me a bunch of headaches. the worst part of this build will be soldering wires to the fire button on the chip " the pins are tiny" so i can bypass them and use my own firing button.

It helps to use a fine tip soldering iron and a helping hands with a magnifying lens when soldering on small pins. Also want to make sure not to get the board too hot and ruin the solder pad on the board.

i guess i'm building a unregulated squonk box instead now. i cant seem to find a box with the proper dimensions. i'll be adding some safety features to make it more safe so i don't have to worry about kids.

This is mine. It is not the prettiest as far as builds go but it is quite functional. That said I don't know if it is something you would want to build because it is huge. It is built with a fat daddy vapes squonker box, fat daddy vapes sqounk 510 kit, fasttech battery sled, and a JiGuan-1600T 160W TC E-Cigarette Control Module.

I'd love to see how those go. I'm looking to do the same thing with an FSK from a donor Hohm Slice that I have coming. It'll be my first mod build, so any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Lol because I'm hardheaded. A mech will be my 2nd,im sure. I have more experience vaping with regulated boxes, and I love the FSK chip more than any other device, including my 2 DNA's. The only drawback is that there's no squonk box with that chip. So, if I can't buy a BF FSK mod, I reckon I'll just make one

You could always use wood. The FSK chip would make a dandy squonker.....!

You can get battery sleds that hold the batteries in a stepped way. That will give you more floorspace, still don't think you will quite get a squonk bottle and that board in a 1590B tho.
