Does anybody else remember the days when an "I B TANKED" tank around a self punched 2.0 cartos was the pinnacle of vaping? I still use cartos on occasion and used then exclusively (with or without a tank) for 3-4 years. Anybody else?

For me they still are to a big extent sir. Although I no longer punch my cartos. My genies do not suit an active lifestyle, sure they are great at the desk while checking out the forums or watching Mod Envy Saturday nights but out and about I can't be bothered. I'm just trying to stay off the stinikies and not worry about how I need to carry my device to avoid the leaking. The tanks let me just throw it in the pocket and go. No fuss, no muss, no worries! Enjoy the day!

PS: Loved the Bowser reference.

Believe me, I'm definitely not knocking the tried and true carto/tank and appreciate your view. I still use them also. If it wasn't for "Bogue-gate" (or maybe bogus-gate would be more accurate?), I would have never moved on to other devices. However, there was a time when cartos and associated tanks were the best devices on the market. Now, there is a plethora of good devices to choose from, but the simple car to is still used to this day!

P.S.: glad you liked the reference! They don't make tv like that anymore!

Chowder sir, Did not think you were knocking at all and I hear ya about the Boge gate situation. I guess my point was whatever keeps you off the stinkies whether old tech or new tech has to be your personal pinnacle. I love trying out new stuff all the time but I seem to go back to what works for my lifestyle. Hey, I'm looking forward to the day when they put a laser on a tube already filled with juice and there's no fiddling whatsoever. LOL

I've got a laser pointer here somewhere, time to start fiddling! Man, that would be the day!

I remember making carto tanks out of syringes. Later I bought 8ft lengths of tubing and grommets to make them. That was before pre punched cartos.

I remember those days! That was right after packing polyfill from attys mouthpieces around a bridged stick attys coil to try to get the Damn things to wick!

Cartos made me realize that need isn't the mother of invention; frustration, hair loss from endless pulling, and caged animal nic fits are! Hence, the now humble carto was born!

Carto tanks are still a backup option for me. Especially when the carto is new, you know it will work. Flavor was decent, airflow good. Can't crank the watts on them but do the job just fine. I'd take carto tanks over about 90% of clearomizers out today.

Yeah, I do to. I've either broken, given away, or based/melted all the tanks I had. I still use unpunched cartos though.

Why you don't leave harsh, abrasive juices in those tanks. This had Pluid in it for a month and was forgotten about. :)

Can't crank the watts? I used 2.0 ohm cartos on top of a Prodigy V3 with lipo4's in series for years. The Prodigy was my first mechanical when they first came out. I still have it and my cartos are about the only things I'm confident using on top of it. That, by the way, is a static 6 volt device. (Edit: that would be unregulated now days, not static. Back then, there were no regulated mods to speak of, hence the use of the term static. We all know (or should) that batteries are not static, the voltage drops with use.)

At the moment, I'm still a big carto tank user... got 5 of em setting within arm's reach of me. Still haven't made the jump to a rebuildable just yet. Leaning that way though.

I still have 10 plus feet of tube and grommets from a group buy .. I still occasionally put 1 together for friends. It fits my oldest rebuildable that got me off cartos.

I still love my carto tanks, I have two from I B Tanked and 1 from Phiniac. I went out and bought the protanks and there is no comparison. I absolutely loath the protanks. I think I have only had maybe 3 bunk carto's so far. Those are what I usually tote along for work. Never have to worry about running out of juice so I don't have to carry bottles with me. I like the way you can customize them too. I can girly it up if I want to:p

Cartos and IBTanks were a big part of my vaping journey........I had 8 of them set up at all times with diff juices in them and carried them with me in a zippered case. I thought that I was one of the last hold outs.....;)
Boy Oh Boy are you in for a pleasant suprise when you do get around to building and vaping a Kayfun or Taifun or an RDA for that matter.

I am still a daily carto user. I love my kayfuns and other rda/rba's and always have the newest out there.
But, i enjoy the hassle free use of a big carto tank. When i get home in the evening or am traveling i don't want to fuss around with anything or refill every few hours.

Thanks to IBTanked for making good looking affordable tanks for all of us.

I was all set to spring for an IBtanked until several people said if you don't really like cartos you prolly won't like a carto tank any better.

Depends what you don't like about cartos. I never used just cartos by themselves, just because its like going backwards.. Its like saying you wouldn't like an aerotank mega if you didn't like protank minis.

For ease of use, flavor and cost i haven't found anything better. Yeah i could make $0.15 coils but i'de be dripping or using a kayfun...but then i'de be refilling or tinkering all day. Prepunched dct xl length cartos run me maybe $1.. Or roughly the cost of a dual coil head for a nautilus or aerotank...but then those they never last me long and tend to be a headache and hit or miss. Thats where i think carto tanks fill the void. I vape alot..5-7ml or so a day, sometimes more and i have cartos that last me 1-2 weeks before the flavor is muted or it gets near impossible to keep going.

If you get the chance give it a try. Two of my coworkers switched.. One primarily used his kayfun at home and protanks on the go. I gave him one of my carto tanks and he swears by them now.

I just didn't like cartos because to me they didn't give very good flavor too me. And from what I have heard putting them in a tank does nothing to improve that flavor. I have also heard that carto life can be all over the map. I just figured stick to what I know instead of investing money to try something different and not liking the results.

It depends alot on the carto as well. I tried Boge's and the flavor was really muted when compared to Smoktech's. I used almost half an ounce in a day because of it lol

And you're right about putting them in a tank..it wouldnt increase flavor..just gives you more juice onboard so you dont have to drip or refil as often.

I would say for my daily vape the flavor is somewhere between using kanger/nautilus' offerings and a dripping atty.

OH NO! Boge Gate starting all over again! Lol. I have always used the smoktech ones primarily. Borges were hard to get a hold of at one point in time and Tasty Vapor always was in stock with smoktech. Since I was always ordering their juice, I would just pick up a box on each order. Was easy, no hassle, and never worried about running out. I still have a box or two laying around for those nostalgic moments.

Ok with the fact that I am one of those that can't master the Kayfun build, and I really don't wanna go back to using clearos what are the best type of cartos to use??? I see some that have single punch, double punch, different size punch, slotted, unpunched that you punch yourself?? Realistically how long does a carto typically last?? Are higher or lower resistance better for cartos?? Are they as finicky as clearo coils where one may last a day and another a few weeks?? Can you get duds??? You say between a Nautilus and a dripper. So that would put it in Kayfun territory right???

No comparison in my opinion between a regular carto and one in a cartotank! I use smok, boge, ikvenvape. All good, although you can always get a bad one!

IMO, carto tanks are still the best fill-n-go option and I am a HUGE IBT fan.
I have a handful of RBAs, a couple of drippers and half a dozen mini Protank 3s but it seems I'm always reaching for a carto tank when I'm on the go... reliable, no leaks, no fiddling around. Just a good solid vape.
I love my VTR and the only thing I use on it is a 19mm XL tank and a LR double punched Smok carto.
And to top it all off, the owner, OCD, is a really great guy. I love to do business with someone that genuinely appreciates his customers so I pimp IBTanked every chance I get.

They are cheap, about $2 each. I would see if my local b&m has a cheap $5-10 tank and try them all to see which you like best. Double punched or slotted are probably what works the best for most. Bad cartos, if not DOA, WILL usually last a week or more. Most LAST a couple weeks, but every once a while, you get that one that will push three or more. And that's using it daily as a main vape. That's been my experience anyway. However, that's using a 6 volt mech mod with stacked ICR 123's. You'll probably get a lot better.

I use the Boge XL Standard Resistance ~3ohm Single Coil Laser Slotted. You do get a bad one now and a again, but in my experience not as many as you do with some manufacturers replacement coils (I'm looking at you Nautilus coils, grr). Most of mine last in the 3-4 week range per carto. But when I experiment with new juices from sample packs or what have you, I tend to go through em quicker. Probably because I don't try to clean em and just toss em when I'm done with a certain flavor I don't intend to go back to.

Seriously?? 3-4 weeks??? I could live with that. I have a dripper for trying new flavors so if I got a carto tank it would be for my ADV on the go. I'm getting tired of taking my rebuildables out and have them leak due to the heat. I always end up taking a VV 3.0 as a back-up.

Yep, that's about what I get Amanda. Near the end of their life, the flavor does start getting a bit muted, so you can tell when it's about time to swap it out.

I used to be able to get 30mls out of a good carto in a cartotank!
That seems about right! +/- 1 bottle of juice per carto on average! But, a carto doesn't eat juice like RDA/RBA's. Back a number of years ago, juice was $20-30 for a 30 8ml bottle in the B&M's. Those cartos made it last till the next paycheck! Now I don't blink an eye dropping 20-30 mls a day.

I find that when I start smelling dirty feet it's time to change LOL Weird - it took me ages to realize that smell was coming from my carto!

In this day and age wouldn't a carto tank be considered a step backwards compared to all of the other choices??? Or is it just one of those tried and trues that will always be around.

For convenience and ease of use, and reliability, I don't think they're outdated at all. I use my Reos 90% of the time, but I keep a cartotank or two handy with an old juice favorite. They're streets ahead of any clearo I ever used but not as good oviously as an RBA.

I don't see it that way. My active lifestyle makes it damn near impossible to really enjoy an RBA while out and about. I'm just trying to stay off the cigs any way I can and not trying to be on the bleeding edge of devices. Hey, I love to tinker by nature and enjoy trying all the new gear. There will always be something new but for me the goal remains the same every day. Stay off the smokes! I love the tiny tanks that IBTanked offers. I can go hands free with my auto spinners and being Italian I need my hands to communicate effectively. LOL. Enjoy the day!

Good to know. I had given up on the thought of an IB Tanked because of what I stated earlier. But it sounds like these may be the ticket for a large capacity on the go tank instead of rebuildables. And I am about ready to give up on KFL's so I need a replacement. No way I will go back to clearos.

You should look at Reos! No mess bottom fed RBA that travels well :) If I'd bought the Reo before the Provari I wouldn't have any cartotanks!

The REO is just not my cup o' tea. And the vape budget would not allow it anyway. If I eventually get anything else it will probably be a Vapor Shark DNA.
