hi everyone, i see people in the news and in articles about vaping say that the tobacco industry is putting a lot of money and lobbying to get and keep vaping out of the market. my question is wouldn't the tobacco industry make money off vaping anyway? e juice has nicotine in it and takes a lot more tobacco to extract the nicotine needed for the e juice then there is in a pack of fags so aren't they making money anyway? i think if vaping can get big tobacco on our side we could get our message heard in congress easier and we would get that huge infrastructure tobacco already has to work for us. wanted to here your opinions on big tobacco and weather you think there is any chance of getting them on our side or do we even want them on our side?

Not really IMO.....I highly doubt the tobacco industries own the companies that put out chemical nicotine.
Want this moved to a different area?

BT know that vaping is here to stay and IMHO, they are doing the very best they can to through lobbying to eliminate via their best buddies at the FDA most if not ALL companies that compete with their half assed hardware and disgusting E-Liquids that contain far higher levels of nicotine than they should.

They want to be the only game in town and may be successful if the FDA deeming reg is not either shot down or greatly changed as BT is the only ones that can afford the future mandatory testing of E-Liquids. Somewhere around 60K for each flavor and nicotine level for that flavor.

I think it depends on what kind of vaping you mean.

There's no future for BT in the open-system vaping that become the norm for us. As long as nic base is available, it's way too easy and cheap to make juice locally; either DIY or in a B&M. Since there's no money in that for them, BT would to see that kind of vaping shut down to the extent possible.

I think BT would be perfectly happy selling people proprietary "pod" systems where the ongoing revenue for the pods is in the same ballpark as what they get from smokers.

I agree with you UncleRj and I think we can basically guarantee that small especially e juice companies are going to be forced out of the market. The only ones that will make it will be companies like Molecule Labs. I also have no fear of vaping ever being banned there is just too much money in the market what does worry me is availability of again juices mostly, hardware I don't think will be a problem.

But there has be someone making a lot of money off the tobacco crops that are being turned into nicotine extract and my understanding is there are still some small growers of tobacco and artisan growers (mostly for the pipe and cigar tobacco industry @ St. James Perique growers) however the larger growers are all controlled by big tobacco. There is a couple of good documentaries one tobacco growers I will try to find the exact names and post them.

Well just wanted to kick the topic around and get others thoughts and opinions.

I'm not convinced that even the big ones like Molecule Labs will every get PMTAs approved for bottled liquids.
