RX 2/3 thinks I'm holding the "+" button

Hey everyone first time actually posting in this forum. I apologize this is a little long.

Well anyway, I'm gonna get right down to it. My RX 2/3 worked just fine yesterday morning. I put it in my backpack and left for work on my motorcycle. Everything seemed fine until I realized my batteries were low. I use a soda charger externally but must have forgot. For whatever reason I plugged in and charged via USB. It didn't charge at all in the half hour I left it plugged in, so I removed it and that was that. Got home and slid a fresh set of married 18650s in her and the wattage on the display was just flying off the handle as if I was turning it up. It seems to think I'm holding the "+" button at all times. I'm unable to use the mod since it constantly just maxes out temp or wattage without me pressing a button. I've come to the conclusion it's related to the button itself due to the fact if I press hold the fire button it will do the task assigned to fire and "+" being pressed simultaneously. Same for the "-" button (will enter key lock mode)

I've installed 2 separate firmware updates thinking it was related to that USB charger. For some reason all I could think was my firmware got corrupted by some fluke when I plugged in the USB. No changes at all. I then tried another pair of married batteries no change. Finally at my wits end, I tore that sucker apartand checked everything internally. I'm by no means an expert, but I've dealt with plenty of fried electronics and have a general idea what to look for (burns, loose connections, corrosion) everything is prestine. I cleaned up a few dirty spots with alcohol and a q-tip and now I'm sitting here baffled.
Someone please tell me what the heck this is all about?

I would go with a faulty button as well on this one..have you tried pressing the button a little hard but quickly to see if maybe something unsticks?

When I tore it apart everything looked fine. I did press it hard as a last resort and no changes. Crazy I've had this thing for 3 months not a single issue

Edit: Although it's not really a fix by any means, I was just tinkering and noticed if I just lock the buttons the fire button remains unlocked. So I will be adjusting to my desired wattage and locking it there. I would love some insight on this issue still, but in case anyone has this same problem, that's my temporary solution.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck with it..ive bought a few lemons among a bunch before..it just happens..Any chance its under warranty with the place you purchased it from?

I purchased it from Shenzhen Vapesourcing Electronics. obviously that is a Chinese online store and it took a good 2.5 weeks to arrive. I'll have to do some digging on their site I suppose but it's doubtful. I don't hold it against Wismec themselves because it wasn't due to poor quality soldering or anything like that. I actually love this mod. Things happen. Maybe one day I will be smart enough to keep a backup mod haha

I don't need an IPV 400 AND a Laisimo L1, Smok Alien, Joyetech cuboid 150, IPVD3S, IPV5, x2 Eleaf 100w (nonTC) and new Hohm Slice as well as a few other mods im looking at plus 3 copper mech mods but what the hell..I got back ups JUST in case.:giggle:o_O:cheers:..Don't ask how many tanks I have:giggle:

Damn. The nature of my job typically puts me through 2 mods a year. It's a shame I can't just find a rugged mod similar to the old Dovpo E-LVT but with a better design.

Did you spray the board with electronic cleaner or detoxit then work the button.. this many times fixes it on the RX series all mine have stuck from time to time from the RX to the RXs RX 2/3 and the Rx 300

Actually I haven't. As I mentioned I used alcohol + q-tip but not any sort of spray. I'll certainly give that a try thanks for the advice! The more I use it in the Keylock state, the better it seems to behave when I unlock it. Maybe whatever got in there is slowly dissipating from the board heating up. Or maybe I'm just talking out of my behind. Not sure but it's vaping strong again.
