KangerTech Mini Protank2 Issues

I've been using this tank for about 2 months and haven't had an issue. I've gone through the two coils that came with the device, as well as two replacement 1.8ohm coils. I haven't had an issue until the other day.

My coils keep getting flooded with liquid, requiring me to shake out the excess before I take a hit. Happens every 5-8 puffs.

I'm not sure what's going on? I replaced the coil and this has happened every since. I've tried taking out the coil and putting it back in, but nothing is changing. Could it just be a funky coil?

Probably a bad coil. There's a few ways it can happen.

Could be that it's missing the flavour wicks, if you're using a fairly thin e-liquid (say 70:30 PG:VG).

Sometimes the coil is not aligned in the head correctly, so doesn't line up with the wick opening, which pushes the wick to the side of the opening, leaving a gap for liquid to get through.

I dunno if you've ever opened up a head to take a look, but it's quite easy to do - screw the head into the mini protank's base (so it's easier to hold) then wiggle the chimney off (it's just a press fit). Then you might be able to see what's up with it. If it's not straight with the wick holes, you might be able to poke it back into place, but I've found that can cause other issues (like hot-spots on the coil).

A couple of things.

Drawing too hard on a Protank can cause flooding
Thin juices or heat can too
Check and make sure all of the o-rings and seal rings are good and still there. Very easy to lose one of the clear rings

Consider reading up on rebuilding your Kanger heads. it is pretty easy and a homemade coil will work much better than the stock wick and coil that comes in the head.

First I'd say you're one lucky fella. That's a good track record for a factory coil. But then I can't vape cotton for more than a day. Agree with G and H above particularly on the flavor wick. Silica disintegrates quickly. Vaporization is a violent affair at the micro level. A a not too infrequent occurrence is that they fall to the side blocking the airflow. Or sometimes just get scorched. Both will reduce or overwhelm coil efficiency and bingo, poor vape. Think wet car battery, misfire. Low power, bad production = gurgles. If you get ambitious for a fab vape look me up here and on ECF for details on precision rebuilding made simple. Like, just works.

Good luck tbone.

I shook out the excess juice and lowered my watts from 10 to 9 and it hasn't happened yet. Maybe it was just too hot for this particular coil. I'll update you guys if it happens again. This is the main reason I want to get into RDA's and such. That and they look a lot cooler, in my opinion.

Doesn't matter what it looks like as long as it works.

That's where you and I might be different. It's like cars. I like a car that looks awesome and performs well. Same with this, but again, that's just me.

Big difference between a car and vape equipment. There are so many people out there that feel they need to drop a bunch of money on fancy vape equipment because they don't want to look dorky with their little ego batteries and evod tanks when their friends have fancy mech mods and drippers. At the end of the day the whole purpose of vaping is the stay off of cigs. Not to look good. If it works it is doing what it is supposed to do.

But to each their own.

Maybe I should clarify why I want to get into RDA's. When I'm out and about, with friends or family, I'd have my MVP 2.0 with me as my daily vapor device to get the craving I need. When I'm home, I'd be using mechanical mods with an RDA as a hobby. So naturally, of course I'd rather buy better stuff for RDA's as it would be a hobby and nothing more.

Either way, this thread was meant for help regarding my KangerTech Mini Protank2, so I'll leave it there.

Good point there G. Don't matter how good it looks if it don't work.

Don't matter how cool we look if we can't get it there.

Good luck.
