MOUTH TO LUNG like when you smoke a cigarette. What exactly does it mean? I've never smoked cigarettes and I've only vaped for a year.
I know what the acronym means, but if I've never smoked a cigarette does it mean I'm not inhaling right? Sorry for my ignorance, I just really don't know.
I have to thank you. This answer was so complete. I will pay more attention to how and what I'm vaping from now on.Many variables affect coil longevity, more particularly the wicking of the coil head wears out way faster than the wire the coil is made of.
1) High VG liquids. VG by itself is used as a sweetener in many things, this sweet factor crystalizes and carbonizes on the wire and in the wicking, also being thicker than PG, if the wick can not wick fast enough, the heat of the coil can scorch and burn it, so VG gives a double wammy
2) Very Sweet liquids. As described above, sweeteners carbonize and crystalize very quickly, sweeter the liquid, more this factor comes into play
3) Dark Liquids. The less clear or clearish a liquid is, dyes, colorings, any particulates (WTA and NET Tobacco flavors), these impurities just burn and carbonize on the wire and in the wicking, they do not actually vaporize for the most part
4) Creamy, Custardardy, Yogurty, Bakery, Savory, Coffees, Tobaccos, Caramels, Vanillas, some fruity flavors. A lot of these suffer from one of the above 3 already mentioned, add in creams and rich savory bakery tones, pastry dough flavors, cookies, again heavy sweeteners, dark colored liquids, creams and such just more impurities in the liquid to carbonize up when heated.
5) Heat/Wattage. The hotter you get, the more you can burn things out, we use the thermal dynamics of evaporization, cooler liquid being vaporized mixed with cool air rapidly cools things down on the coil itself, which works in tandem with #6
6) Airflow. Not enough airflow and the wire of the coil can't be cooled efficiently when vaporizing liquid #5
A true clear, unflavored liquid coils can last for weeks to months, less sweet, semi thick, more clear liquids last 2nd longest, super sweet, super dark, super creamy or savory flavors are at the bottom of the list as worst offender coil killers.
Having never smoked cigs before, give a close analogy, MTL vaping is like drinking from a straw on your Circle K 44oz Thirt Buster. Using suction of your mouth, move vape away and suck the vapor into your lungs. Are you vaping wrong? No, if what you have been doing has worked for you all this time, why change it.
Only reason I would see moving from DTL to MTL is if you are stepping down to like a tank like a Kayfun or other atomizer designed for MTL, MTL is generally higher resistance, slow, steady draws, on lower watts, using higher nicotine if you use nicotine, benefit is being lower watts, it is more juice conservative, still get good flavor and all, just you won't be winning any cloud or trick comps.
Kind of like drinking milk through a straw.. suck into mouth, then swallow (inhale in this case)I know what the acronym means, but if I've never smoked a cigarette does it mean I'm not inhaling right? Sorry for my ignorance, I just really don't know.
Unfortunately, only the nicotine is a bit lower. Still burning tobacco. I tried the same thing. I got down to one a day, and it was still 10 days before I stopped craving that 1.It's also very low-intensity, because of the cooler temp and low amount of vapor -- good for those of us old smokers who have lung and breathing problems. My asthma won't tolerate anything else. In fact, I think I was already using the slow-steady-and-not--too-deep technique, when I smoked, because of the asthma -- it's also why I smoked ultra-lights for the last 20 of my 39 yrs as a smoker. I called them the procrastinator's way to quit smoking.
But yes, it's extremely economical, and far less likely to bother non-vapers, as well as far easier to get away with stealth vaping.

It took me nearly 2 1/2 years dual using to actually quit using combustibles, due to the only really affordable devices were cig-a-likes and ego devices were just hitting the scene out here where I live. After stepping up to an Ego device, it still took me to gradually decrease my PAD out and about + vaping at home to 1 cig a day, then just walked away from combustables entirely after that. If someone is dual using, and I know many who are IRL, as Andria stated above, this is not really about quitting entirely, it is more Harm Reduction, there are still addictive addatives and alkaloids in cigs that you can't get in vaping, can get close, but can't not all of them. It's what works for the end user, myself I was wanting off the cigs to begin with, had tried for 10 out of the 23 years I actually smoked to do so, mindset and will also have to be taken into account.
I may jibe and kid at those I know that still dual use to this day, but I don't belittle them into shame about it, heck, 4 1/2 years ago I was still in the same boat as them.
