hi everyone! so i just received my first 18650 mod. ipv d3s to be exact. i also got a pair of samsung 30q batteries and a nitecore i1 charger. i also have an xtar charger on the way.

so my question is...the d3s came with a dc5 charging cable. should i avoid this and just use an external charger? or is the plug ok to use? i have a battery on the i1 charger now.

thanks. now im just waiting for the light to turn green. cant wait to turn it on!

If you have a few quality batteries and a good external charger, it seems to me it is just easier to swap out batteries.
I will charge mods with the usb connection if they have a silicone sleeve on them like my Vapor Sharks, but that is just out of laziness. I personally keep an eye on my charger when I have batteries in it and not leave it charging overnight, but that's just me...

You can use the usb cable that came with the mod to charge your bats, but where you plug into is the question? Do Not Use more then a 1 amp source, and never use your PC ports which may blow out or even worse blow out the mother board.

18650 should be charged at no more then 1 amp = 1000 mah. If the wall plug is 1 amp or less yes you can use.

I haven't seen a person that can stand behind the built in charging on the ipv. I too run this mod, but I use a single 18650 charger for mine. Works really great.

Yea. I didnt intend on using it since i got a single charger and an xtar charger on the way. Just more wondering if it was a feasable option

If you are out and about without spare batteries, traveling and no access to an external charger, then using an onboard charger on a single battery mod is fine, just remember to not leave the mod unattended while charging in case of trouble. Other than that, 18*** and 26*** series batteries, most times it is more advisable to use an external quality charger that is designed for one purpose only, that being charging batteries, great choice on the Xtar, their QC and Warranty can't be beat, basically the Cadillac of vape chargers on the market presently.

The nitecore charger is going to charge much faster than any usb charger. It usually takes about 2 to 3 hours to fully charge my 3000Mah batteries, vs 4 hours to charge my 1100mah ecig battery on the usb. I have 2 married sets and charge them each once a day.. I never run out of battery time. (2 in my mod, 2 in the charger, and 1 in my mech and one single in the charger)
