all kanthal brands created equal

Well there is only 1 Kanthal brand as that is a trademarked name of the temco company I think. That said there are differences. .. I doubt the average vaper would ever notice. I would be careful when buying from places like Fasttech. They do have good wire. But they are also the only source I know of where you can get the famous nichrome kanthal wire.

I can't explain the why, or the technical aspects of it, but I've purchased wire from a well known vendor that I didn't care for. I kept getting weird tastes from it, so I stopped using it. Then I saw a couple others say the same about theirs. I stick with Temco because of it.

Did you clean it with isopropyl alcohol ? Hate to see it thrown out. I haven't had any taste to kanthal as long as I clean it well.
Don;t matter, no amount of cleaning dry firing is going to make that LV crap worth the cost difference. The mom unit was getting headaches I was getting monster coughing.

I haven't forgotten this post Lol I got some Temco NiCr 80 today. Holy shit what a difference compared to LV. First thing I noticed is when I pulsed. The coils didn't turn all kinds of wacky colors. The Temco wire is heating up faster, with a brighter cleaner taste. Thanks dude !

LV is great if you want to learn tricksy coils to get your chops in.
Then just order the Temco stuff to build coils you are actually going to use.

No TC with the RX2/3 for kanthal. Only watts mode.You would need a Hohm Wrecker G2 or possibly a DNA box to do TC with kanthal.

Wire preference update, need to update my opinion on KBee wire. While I've found the SS to be good I got a bunch of Temco, Pure Atomist and KBee Kanthal for my practice wire. I've found the K.Bee Kanthal to be filthy, not going to get their Kanthal again. I got a few spools of the Kanthal between 34g-38g and my fingers have a lot of black shit from the wire. I can't recommend it for Kanthal, good luck with their SS but avoid the Kanthal.
