Afternoon all. I'm from the UK and I'm quite new to vaping(2 months without a stinkie.)

I don't know if this is allright to post in here but I'm looking for a wee bit of help.

I have a kangertech subox mini but I'm not realy getting on very well with that,When I use it the juice tastes burnt,it doesn't matter how much I prime the coil or let it stand before vaping,so I bought a smok stick one basic as I thought maybe that would be better for me. How wrong was I!

I took the tank apart before I used it and cleand it out,I primed the coil with the juice I was going to fill the tank with and left that to stand untill I dried and put the tank back together. I put the tank back on and filled with juice and left to stand for ten mins. I fired it up(Five clicks.) and took a hit,all of a sudden the tank started to gurgle and I got a little scared and stoped using it as I thought it might split the tank. I took the tip off and stuck some kitchen paper down the pipe to see if there was liquid in it and there was,but after cleaning it out and taking another hit it was still gurgling.I have tried changing the coil to the spare one but it's still the same. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? It's the same thing that happens whith the kangertech and I had hoped it would be better with this as it scares the heck out of me.

Thanks for reading my post and sorry that it's so long and a bit of a moan. But any help would be great.

Thanks. Margaret.:)

Welcome Sneaky Margaret to VU!~

Gurgle is common with some tanks and nothing to be worried about.. just too much juice got through the cotton/wicks. There is a 'reverse blow' you can do to clear that up.. I would google the gurgle for a you tube vid or two showing how to clear that. There are plenty of them out there and it's not hard at all. Likewise there are techniques for keeping that from happening.. Best to check and see which apply to you! ..

edit: one thing that comes to mind.. perhaps you are drawing too hard on the inhale.. if you pull too hard it will create a vacuum greater than the balance of the air flow and pull too much juice.. maybe try a softer longer draw?

Evening Foggz and thank you for the help. I'll search on you tube for some videos, and try and take it slower with the draw.

Maybe I need a lower nicotine level? I use 18mg. Would that help?

I don't know if the tanks are in any way similar. But when my tank (Innokin iSub Apex) gurgles, I just stick a qtip down thru the mouth piece and let it sit for a second then flip the qtip and repeat, tilt there is no juice showing on the qtip. Hope this helps.

OH and a very warm welcome to you!!

Did you get the subox mini in a kit with a kbox mini mod ?
If so (or even if you're using a different vw mod), what watts are you running it at ?
Are you doing "MTL" (mouth to lung, like smoking a stinkie) type draws, or DTL (direct to lung) ?

Yeah it's a starter kit. I was runing it at 7.0W,with the 1.5ohm coil installed. Yeah I do the MTL while vaping.

Thanks for the reply and the help.

Morning. Yeah I use some kitchen paper to dip into the mouth piece for a bit to,that works for a while then it all starts again. Maybe it happens because I suck too hard when taking a draw? That sounds realy bad!:teehee:

Is your airflow all the way open? If it isn't maybe you should open it some more so you won't suck, er pull... um draw so hard on it. :teehee::teehee:

Congrats and Welcome to VU!

Welcome!!

I'd def try with the larger air flows. I noticed that helped me. Also try going DTL. I see this happening with more of my MTL friends than with the DTL people.

Don't know if this applies to you, but are you leaving the tank cracked/open? I left a top fill tank open once and got way too much juice in the coil. And table. And floor. =)

I had a lot of leaking some time ago and a lot of frustration. It turns out my leaking was due 2 things: 1) how I wicked the RBA & 2) how I filled the tank. Below is a really useful & sufficiently detailed video for doing your own coils for the subox mini tank. He also talks about how to fill the tank to prevent leaks. It's also not overly long.

Hi Sneaky and welcome!
What is the wattage you are running? If it is too low it will not vaporize correctly and gurgle. Did you get any liquid in the center air tube? What coils are you using? Take the tank off and blow into it with paper towel at the bottom, sometimes that helps.Turn watts up slowly to break in the coil. Don't know why it would taste burnt? Try poking some holes with a pin on the coil cotton side port before you place 2 or 3 drops there. Maybe cotton isn't wicking right? I don't put juice down the center of the coil, I try to put a fresh coil in at night to have time to soak in.
Good luck and don't give up.

Evening. I normaly have it at 7.7 wattage with the 1.5 ohm Coil in it as I use liquid at 12mg of nic. I checked if there was any in the centre tube by putting kitchen paper in there and nothing was on it. Coils are 1.5 ohm. I haven't tried doing the pin thing,I'll try that next time.

Thanks for the reply and the help. :)

Hi Sneaky and welcome
I've found the most common cause of gurgle/spitback is not enough power to fully vaporize all the juice in your coil/wick.. to me 7.7w sounds way too low and I would try doubling it to at least 15w and try it..if it still gurgles bump it up a few more watts at a time until the gurgle completely disappears...good luck!

Yes, I agree 7.7watts is way too low and the liquid will not vaporize correctly and I too think Sneaky needs to go up some in the wattage and the gurgling should disappear. Blow down through the tank drip tip and wipe up the eliquid that may come from the base of the tank, and keep turning the wattage slowly up to at least 15w and beyond to stop the gurgling.
Also the Pg/Vg levels can gurgle, I try to use at least 65VG- the higher the vg the thicker the juice less gurgling too and 12nic is high, try maybe 6nic. Watch some you tube videos on your tank and coils, it helps!

Yes, any tank with a 510 pin connection will work with your battery.

Gurgling is normal, I just keep hitting it. The extra juice creating the gurgle will vaporize on its own.
I agree. Gurgling isn't really a problem for me. It just sounds annoying and possibly a little spit back

Usually bumping up the power a bit helps prevent gurgle/spitback
