I'm not a small person by any means. I was once upon time, its not for lack of trying, typical thing that happens when a guy who curls 180 and benches 350, stops running,
Bottom line is: it's no ones place to judge anothers happiness based on the number spat out by scale. Only thing that comments liken that show is their own ignorance, and incessant self loathing.
I had about a foot on him and about 85lbs but I have broad shoulders.
THe food stealing sack of ass was a shape not in shape. Round is a shape. his chins had chins and sounded like a pug standing still.
He stole my food. Fuck him.

I don't give two shits is someone is big. I give a shit when they get fat entitled and lazy.

The size shouldn't be an issue

The theft and lazy maybe; but, not the size.

Not really, but I see the same people bash other people for being overweight. as in at least once lr twice a week. Like if someone is a few extra pounds it bothers them for some unknown reason,
Kinda sick of the same shit from the same people. Then again, they just acting out because they are miserable with themselves.
No, not bashing overweight people at all. The behavior this guy displays is pretty rude. Like stealing your lunch simply because he's hungry and feels entitled to do so. Like yelling at his employer when said employed doesn't buy and deliver lunch to him on time. Like walking over to talk to you with a mouthful of doughnut, with creme dripping down his chin on to the memo you're holding. And yes, this actually happened. It's not about him being big, it's about the disgusting behavior and lack of concern he has for his fellow human beings that he displays while maintaining his "bigness".

Let's put it this way, if a drug addict stole my prescriptions, threw tantrums like a child when his fix was late, and used his drug of choice in front of me, I would be no more or less disgusted. It just so happens that this addict's drug of choice is food. And instead of wasting away, his symptoms are being obese. And yes, we've spent 20 years (more) trying to softly suggest that he get some help. Hasn't worked. He doesn't care that his diaphragm is now partially paralyzed. He doesn't care that he has diabetes that went away completely when he lost 120lbs for about six months five years ago. He doesn't care how is behavior effects others, as long as he gets to eat.

Back to the case in point... if I put a closed box of doughnuts on my desk and walked away for a few minutes, they would be rifled through and half gone by the time I got back. I know, because it's happened. The crudites seems like a perfect April Fool's Joke. Doesn't it?

LOL, you wouldn't think so if you knew the situation. Guy does not stop eating, all day long. Breakfast is 9-12. Lunch, which he doesn't pay for, is at 1, and if it's a second late the complaints start. Lunch is an hour straight, followed by a half hour bathroom break, then it's snack time from 2:30-5. And if he runs out? If I have lunch in the fridge, it's fair game to him. Nothing you can do once it's eaten right? Four guys in the office, it's not hard to figure out, especially when you find your lunch leavings in the bin under his desk.

This will be way better than the Ex-Lax brownies lunch bag. I can leave the crudites there for days in that tempting box. :D
My son had a friend who, at the age of 14, topped 300 lbs. He broke one of our chairs, and after that, when he started to sit in our recliner, he was told he must sit on the sofa. It was a huge sofabed thing, which I figured would be pretty hard to break -- and I was right, he never managed to break it.

The guy you work with... I can only surmise that he must be a terribly unhappy person, and is trying to "eat his feelings" -- or else he has a tapeworm.

If something someone said makes you feel the need to apologize or explain yourself further, perhaps there is a reason for the feelings of guilt.
Its not my fault someone else needs to judge another based on their outward appearance; then, go search for other things to blame it on.

Nope, no feelings of guilt here. I just don't like to let accusations against me stand. You're seriously mistaking my disgust at blatant and flagrant flaunting of food addiction for "fat shaming" or "bashing" or whatever. The guy has a problem. Unfortunately, his problem affects me personally almost daily. You think it's fun having to hide and/or guard your food? Nothing to do with how big he is currently, that's just a symptom of the problem.

If the actions are the problem, you wouldn't feel the need to go someplace where the person can't defend themself and purely bash them over their weight.

And you started the weight discussion .... so not sure where I accused you of anything other than YOUR actions

What I'm OK with: Paying taxes.
What my fucking problem is: Filling out what amounts to a few pages of forms should not require a fucking CPA.

What I'm OK with: The IRS trying to lay everything out in decent language.
What my fucking problem is: 8 billion fucking pages of decent fucking language.

What I'm OK with: The IRS having tax centers for help they claim is available.
What my fucking problem is: The tax centers being closed because of fucking budget cuts.

What I'm OK with: The IRS having Volunteer Tax Service Centers.
What my fucking problem is: The closest one being 80 fucking miles away.

What I'm OK with: Taking some time to deal with this.
What my fucking problem is: Taking this insane amount of fuckity fuck fuck fucking time to deal with this.

There. I can move on now.

Agree to disagree, you say I think it's a weight problem, I say I think it's an addiction problem. Only I am in my head, so...

As I said, for 20 years (me) or more (others) we have been trying to guide this fellow to getting help. I've also not said anything here that I haven't said to his face, so, again, accusations are uncomely and unwarranted.

In the same token, if someone feels self conscious about their looks, sometimes they get defensive and lash out.

When one is not comfortable in their own skin, sometimes they project that to others in different ways.

We all judge on how someone looks. If anyone says otherwise, they are lying. It's human nature.

To an extent yes...
There is a huge difference between what you are saying and

I don't have any feelings of guilt. I refuse to let someone destroy my furniture, but I was expressing empathy for the fellow that feels the need to stuff food in his mouth every minute of the day; he obviously is very unhappy. Not sure what YOUR problem is though.

What did she say that was wrong?
Her son's friend was rotund. He broke her furniture (which she paid for) and because of his size, she wanted him to sit on the couch. I don't think that is unreasonable or discriminatory. The kid was fat. He broke shit he wasn't paying for. It was her house.

The guy at work obviously has a problem. He very well could be eating his emotions. Many people DO that. Most obscenely obese people have serious EMOTIONAL problems. Food IS an addiction. Empty carb foods, actually trigger your brain to eat more of it. Ask a doctor.

Seriously, I didn't realize I was on a psychology today forum, with a bunch of judgmental people, diagnosing a complete stranger.

Right bird....

Now they should just fire fat guy at work, and the son's friend should be told he can't come over anymore because he is too damn fat for her furniture....

You could have a stroke over that......

Sensitive Suzy. Projecting their feeling to make themselves feel better and add another excuse crutch...

I wasn't diagnosing anybody of anything. I was observing that he was clearly unhappy to be stuffing food in his mouth every waking minute, because that is in NO WAY normal. What makes him so unhappy, I don't know, but it's really not a "reach" to observe that he must be.

I'm a little heavier than I'd like to be, personally; I diagnose... post-menopause slowed metabolism. Apparently I'm going to have to learn to eat all over again, given this new state of being.

Great, so what I get from this is that it's wrong to protect our belongings from being destroyed because it might hurt someone's feelings.

And.

It's wrong to try and help an acquaintance, to try and help that person out of a situation where they are slowly killing themselves, despite their displayed lack of basic human decency towards you. Even when they have said that they want to get better. You should assume that they don't want your help and watch them slowly kill themselves. No joke, this guy has a partially paralyzed diaphragm as a result of weight and diabetes and his O2 sat is hovering at dangerous levels, especially at night. He's circling the drain slowly. But of course, I should be nice and polite and let him flush himself, right? Okay.

Its so not worth it, if at the age you're at you haven't figured out that judging someone over things like: age, race, religion and weight are wrong; than, you need more help than anyone can give.

Trying to help someone is not judging them. Being disgusted by a gross lack of human courtesy is not judging. Recognizing someone's addiction is not judging. Being gross out by the animal noises coming from across the room? Judging? Maybe? Can't help it if custard dripping lips that fall upon my paperwork is something I find disgusting. I think many, many people, across many, many cultures would feel the same.

And if you believe that liberal drivel, that using your human judgment is wrong, you deserve to meet Darwin.

Sorry, if you are a sloven 400 pound slob, you should not be using a ladder with a weight restriction of 200 pounds. Pointing that out doesn't make you judgmental. The fact you actually are trying to use a ladder incapable of holding your weight points to you being a moron. Me pointing out to NOT do that, makes me caring and obviously a little smarter.

I had a chest x-ray last fall, at which time I'd been vaping for about a year and a half, just over a year smoke-free. The results were that there was absolutely zero change from a chest x-ray taken in 1997, though I remained a smoker during the entire 17 yrs, until 2014. I guess that's a good thing; nothing wrong then (other than asthma), nothing wrong now (other than asthma).

Sweet.. xray came back 'nothing acute found' , and just 'mild central bronchitis' noted.
Looks like I kicked the paper sticks just in time. That 'mild' may have been worse when I had just quit cigs, if coughing is any kind of direct indicator.
BTW, doc was really happy that I kicked cigs, and although he didnt voice direct approval of vaping, he said anything that works to keep you off the cigs is great news.

Sweet, grats on the mostly clean bill of health. Funny, 4 years in and I still find that lung functions are improving. I can take a full enough lungful of air now to hold my breath for almost two minutes, without practice or effort. When smoking I was at about one minute, and a year ago I was at a minute and a half. So, imo, lung function seems to steadily improve for years after quitting.
