I'm a new comer- help appreciated!

Hi everyone, I'm Jamie- I've just joined vaping underground as I'm looking for some help...

- I'm new to vaping and struggling to find a vape pen I like, has anyone got any brands they'd recommend?

I've looked around and it seems there's pro's and con's to them all- hence why i can't decide! What are the best ones to get started with?

Thanks!!

If by "pen" you mean a tube type mod, the AIO is pretty popular and trustworthy.

If you actually mean a vape pen, then no can't help. 99.9% of vapers use tubes or boxes. Starter pens tend to be a waste of money.

I suggest getting a proper mod and a proper tank and stay away from pens/cigalikes because they are just a waste of money.
Not really. My wife and I started out with eGo's and Leo's early 2010. Wasn't much to choose from. But, we did quit smoking ;)

Ah- yeah it's just a simple vaporizer really (just a cheap one). The problem I'm having is it leaks on my lip. So was wondering if they're all like this or? Is there a particular brand known as a good one for beginners?

Yes, all pens seem to be that way.

Cig a likes, don't tend to leak, but are made by big tobacco. So who knows what is in the juice. Also, cig a likes tend to have VERY small battery capacity.

If you want to vape, to be honest, buy something better. Wasting your money on "starter" pens and cig a likes will only leave you frustrated and discourage you from quitting smoking.

Joyetech Ego AIO or Kangertech Subvod are both good little units. My suggestion would be don't waste your time with anything from your local gas station or convenience store.

Best of luck and welcome to VU

It is well worth the effort and expense of learning to vape and drop the cigarettes

I have only been vaping for about 6 months. I tried a few pens and none performed as I wanted them to. I switched to a Council Mini Volt with a Nautilus tank.Should run you about $50-$60 for the complete set up. Perfect set up if you are a former or soon to be former smoker. I've been very happy ever since, my wife and three coworkers all use the same set up. Set your mini volt to 12W and you are good as gold

I started with the subvod and upgraded to the Pico a week later. I love that the Pico grows with you and I got an Avocado (thanks VU for the suggestion) when I was ready to build but started with a tank that took coils I could buy in a shop. Super easy and small.

I personally still love the Joyetech Ego One, all versions. They are cool little setups that are compact, simple and pack a good kick even for some more experienced vapers.

If you settle on a mod that is an all in one, or has a built in battery, I would suggest you budget for 2 so that you have a backup. Nothing sucks worse than a dead mod while trying to get away from smoking.

Oh I agree wholeheartedly.
2 Endura Kits for $60.Add in a 5 pack of coils for another $10.Pick up a sampler from Blovape for an additional $30.Giving a grand total of $100 and still get way more bang for the buck than most of us did when we started.
I still remember the horror stories of people paying $150+ for 2 craptastic cigalikes and a silly fucking charger and the damn things didn't even come with e-liquid oh no you had to pay extra for pre-filled cartomizers...Sorry for the rant there.
Anyhow just listen to the advice you get here and make the best decision for yourself.

Think I paid $80 for a really bad cigalike in 08ish. $60 for a Joytech carto the following year and then the Egos came out which I dropped $100 for an Ego A and then a Ego C (the pass through). Buying juice was worse than everything else. Random crap either being slow boated or paying through the nose for a US vendor

These days are great for all the different options to kick cigarettes

Thanks everyone-I got one of the blu vape pens in the end- its the pro one. I quite like it actually. It was pretty cheap and doesn't leak so we'll see how this goes. I got a tobacco flavor with it which is ok- i fancy something a bit more fruity I think though. Was tempted to get that strawberry mint one- anyone got any suggestions on good flavor brands?

I had the blu but I quickly outgrew it. Now I have over 10 mods and even more tanks lol. When you are ready for something different, might I suggest the eVic VTC minis. Or a eVic Vtwo. I have both and like them equally.

I totally agree. You will end up with a mod and a tank, save your money and start there. You can get a small mod, I recomend 40,50 watts and a small tank like the subtank nano, because the coil system has a wide range. Hang in there. You'll get it.

I have just started too :) I purchased the Innokin Endura T18 and its been a few weeks and it's been perfect for me and I would highly recommend it! Good luck!

My best advice is:
Step 1. Go to all the local gas stations and tobacco stores, and take note of their brands.
Step 2. Go to local Brick and mortar stores.
Step 3. Swear off all of the brands at the gas stations, and swear off the stores that had the same brands.
Step 4. Pick a brick and mortar store with different brands, and talk to them. Try various flavors. (they'll charge you a little, but you need to know what you like) Hold different devices, write down the ones you like.
Step 5. Read reviews of the ones you liked, and pick one.
Step 6. Buy it online, from a USA source.

Alternatively, post to the forums classifieds that you're looking for a good starter setup, someone might have one. :)

The best of the gas station cigalikes cost about $75-$90, and can be bought online for about $40. I've seen a site that sells vape fluid that has a starter cigalike for $19, full kit.

I I'm getting a nice mod (ipv5), rebuildable tank (tfv4) batteries, charger, wire, cotton, and 150ml of fluid for under $90 in all, used from individuals, and I know I won't have to upgrade for a long time.

Those cigalikes get you on the refills and coils, and their batteries go out fast. Bookmark this thread, you'll be back soon. :)

A Joye eGo AIO Box Starter Kit is only $19.95...I would have loved to have something that nice back when I started.
Kit Contents:
  • 1 x Joye eGo AIO Box
    2 x BF SS316 0.6ohm Atomizer Heads
    2 x Drip Tip
    1 x Micro USB Cable

I'd go with the Kanger Subvod Mega TC. Comes with a topfill, replaceable tank. The advantage there is you can get another tank for another flavor. You can also replace it if the glass breaks, which isn't true on all all-in-one type units.

i quit on these
72c1420c49d6824b5d2315ffd631d7d3.jpg

but it was a different time then, when i got to mechs we were using 10a cells and vaping under 1.0 resistance was like you were fuckin quick draw mcgraw.
best thing about being a noob now is you have an oversaturated market of relatively low priced shit to choose from before you, if you decide to anyway, get something more top shelf.
i recommend getting getting an rx200. ive never used one but 7 out of 10 money shots online is people using em, theyre dirt cheap and you can ride em low and hit the gas to ride em high. so... its a lot of bang for your buck imo, until you figure out what it is you like.

Might as well recommend the RX200 2/3 instead of the original 200 or 200S, reason being more versatility.

I am getting a setup from someone on here for $35! I have a Flowermate because I vape dry stuff sometimes, but I think I need two vapes (at least). I also wanted something smaller for out and about.
If I hadn't gotten something here I would have gone with the Pico, though.

I use an "iStick Basic" by eLeaf. It's about $30 for the complete kit which includes a 2300 mah battery, GS Air 2 tank with a .75 ohm coil that vapes at a little over 18 watts on a full charge.

Battery life is good, it has good flavor and decent cloud similar to a full flavor cigarette with 50/50 juice (menthol). I am extremely happy with it after smoking 2 or more packs a day for over 46 years.

Noticed a lot of good advice here & valid recommendations for starting out kits. Also noticed subtle hints that a newbie vaper needs to do some research and exploration. This was all very good advice & suggestions.

I want to point something out to the original poster. There are many of us seasoned vapers who take umbrage with brands like Blu ecigs. This is justifiably warranted too.

Brands like Blu ecigs are brands what belong to big tobacco corporations, or big pharmaceutical corporations. Many of us have woke up to a realization that big tobacco does not care about its consumers beyond milking away their money. It is big tobacco which lobbies the U.S. government to over regulate a new industry, consumer life choice to use nicotine or not yet to enjoy vaping.

If you're a newbie to vaping you might consider looking up CASAA , SFATA and read about volunteers which were already setting up self regulation within the industry & lifestyle. People gladly stepped up to help protect others and to provide help to others looking for a means of safely quitting big tobacco. They still do as evidenced herein.

People genuinely desire helping other people with vaping & remaining as safe as possible while vaping. These people helping are at times literally saving a life, or two. It was these people, not any government, not any politics, not any religion, not any race, only these caring and compassionate people that got the ball rolling and started creating standards for vaping, for manufacture as well as consumption.

They did this freely, offered up free time in order to help other people. You like the Blu brand ecig, fine. Understand though people here in this thread offered a range of suggestions.

Again, people caring and taking time, expressly for the benefit of another person and doing so freely. How does drawing on that Blu brand ecig feel knowing you're in essence slapping these people in the face by using a big tobacco product? And no, I'm not saying you cannot or that you need to feel guilty over using such a product.

I myself have a few Mark 10 kits, which are made by big tobacco. They were coupon kits and are kept back as last resorts. My point though is as someone coming into vaping, please take your time and learn about vaping, the act of it as well as its culture.

Thank you for reading & please run 'er slow. :)

I honestly think I own every incarnation of Cool Fire and iSub that has been made with the exception of the Cool Fire II.As there is no way in hell somebody that looks the way I do gets more than 3 steps out the door with anything remotely resembling a grenade before a SWAT team showed up.:giggle::giggle::giggle:

I noticed some of the others look like a grenade but the IV almost just looks like a normal box mod...
