Rubbery Coating on teeth since I started vaping

I have been vaping a little over a year now. I now have a rubbery like coating on my upper two front teeth. I am constantly trying to bite it off. It's the toughest substance in that I am unable to bite through it! I have tried brushing very hard with my toothbrush with no luck. I do use those pick/flossers and that loosens and cuts it but does not get rid of it completely. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how do you get rid of?

Welcome to VU, What are you vaping for juice?
Right now I am vaping a house juice from the e-spot vape shop. Sugar cookie flavor, 6 mg nicotine. I don't know the pg/vg amounts. The other flavor that I use is donut pounder and I forget the brand name but I do know this one is not a house juice. I always use 3 or 6 mg nicotine.

teeth and under the gum line towards the root of your teeth. Time for a deep plaque cleaning I think.
I I did have a very good plaque cleaning about two months after I started vaping. I have never had a problem like this until I started vaping. Just wondered if any other vapers are having same problem?

One bottle of trip water will cure an ingrown toenail....might take that nasty paste off the teeth too.....:blech:

I have a similar problem that was fixed by a fellow vaper, my dentist. Basically, when you vape, an organic substance is being vaporized. What isn't vaporized is left as gunk on your coil. The Vapor that comes out, does leave a small amount of residue on your 2 teeth because that's where the Vapor hits first.

To remedy this, simply brush and floss twice a day. He also recommended a mouth wash, but I don't really like to use.

Recently got full dentures. Think in part smoking helped destroy my teeth, in part bad teeth seems a family trait. My Pap and uncle both had bad teeth. They did do what they could caring for them to no avail. Still re-learning to use teeth. Least now I got nice ones that won't give me toofer aches. :) My dentist & the technician both said vaping seemed positive in my case. He figured the pg helped healing my gums. * shrugs * Don't figure vaping is much cause of any dental issue/s I had, will have.

PG helped you gums? Please explain!

Not exactly sure I can. Just know the dentist figured it might have helped in healing the gums after he pulled my remaining teeth. He didn't say anything more than that. To me it seems kind of reasonable to think it might have, iirc, something I read about either pg or vg said it was anti-microb or some such. I don't know because I've never played a doctor on tell lie vision, or even had to be a doctor in life. Sure I'm fairly smrt about some things, but i do know there's lots I don't know. I'm okay not knowing too. Let's others get be smrter and offer me help. Which works out alright too.

Apologies, not trying to make an unsubstantiated claim, just relaying my dentist thought pg might have helped. He's the doc what expressed that opinion. I can only figure he'd have some kind of idea about it. Least I'd hope so. Hm, now I wonder bout all those fancy people doing fancy things. Maybe they got no clue either? Quick, tell the Pope, people walking round not having a clue! We need some kind of authority ....

Oh wait, never mind. :)

Tobacco has a REALLY negative effect of oral mucosa and blood flow.
Why so many dental issues can escape undetected for so long.

I'm thinking he may be addressing the anti-microbial effect of PG -- a kinder gentler way to disinfect the mouth than alcohol rinses. I do think that PG kills bacteria in the mouth, because when I first started vaping I had some issues with thrush, candida albicans, overgrowing, causing sores on my tongue and those cracks at the corners of the mouth that are so hard to heal. They've eased, so I guess my body has re-established some kind of balance, or maybe it's just because I don't vape quite so much.

Could be what he was getting at. I do not know for sure. Thought it interesting at the least, he mentioned it and in a positive light.

Morley thank you very much for your honesty and for being a good sport! Maybe it was the VG as that is used for a moisturizer? Actually not important you are better off from quitting smoking and vaping! Me too!

Perhaps a little baking soda mixed with your toothpaste a couple times a week would help. They used to make toothpaste with baking soda in it, not sure if they still do.

Yep they still make it, in fact seeing more brands with it added, regular brushing especially at bed time never had an issue with this type of thing:):)

Ha ha! Got you folks with teeth still in your pie holes beaten. :) I can pop my teeth out and clean 'em up but good if I've need. Presently, still becoming accustomed to them so I eat little with them. Been having fun watching myself act as a baby and spit food out while trying to swallow it instead. :gaah::cuss2::giggle: I'm assured it is a learning experience which takes everyone a bit o' time in their own accord. Got to crawl before you walk, walk before you run.

No point being anything but a good sport about it. Getting all bent out of shape won't bring back teeth, nor would it help to dwell on the negative. The positive is that I'm still alive and so far as I know don't have any further medical issues from using tobacco. Of course, that is also owning up to being ignorant to a point. Ignorance can be cured. You just learn, live, grow adapt. Stupid cannot be cured because it's a choice to not learn, to not live at least as far as I see. Stupid wouldn't be a good sport.

^^^^^This!!! I'm getting dentures or implants at 26 because of bad dental genes (no enamel on my teeth)! I'm not sad nor do I care if someone thinks I'm on drugs. (1 I'm too fluffy and 2 I still look 14) So No dumbasses I'm not on drugs!!! I am absolutely happy/ecstatic that I am getting teeth that won't cause me any pain! I am thrilled to be getting a pretty smile again.:banana::banana:

Well, yep. I'm fairly glad of having dentures. Like you say no more pain from teeth. Got a nice smile back. Never was a big smiley type of person anyway. More often than not I would use little closed mouth smirks.

Finally got dentures from a dentist here local. I tell you it seems he works some form of high level magic. He wants people having very custom made dentures at affordable cost. He wants to help people. I had just a few teeth over ten that were all fouled and would have gone away, needed them out. Needed dentures. He set up all in for $3,000.

My grandmother from my step-father passed on. Her and paw paw treated all the grandkids like grandkids, even those who come by way of other family. Her estate got settled and all the grand kids got a percent. The blood grand kids got a little bigger percent than two of the married in ones. We had no problem with that at all because in life, everything had been fair. We were not being made out as hind tits. This was just how the grand parents wanted, we respected.

At any given my wife took charge over the windfall this percentage was for us. She bought a 'new to her' used truck for around $2,000. Another $1,000 partly went toward her truck and partly helped general living for me & her. Told her, "well mimmy would have said to use it for what we needed, I gets teeth". So, I did and not been happier. :)

When I was twenty I was enlisted in the navy. My wife laughs at my boot camp graduation picture. "You look like a teeny tiny little ten year old running around in a snazzy boy scout outfit," she says. Guess what she sees is kind of true. I did look ten. I age slow, or did until the docs got me on mainlining testosterone daily now.

"Here take this, be normal."

Yeah sure, riiiight. I fool them, I wear condoms over my spleen. No way they gaining control over my kidney. I need it to remain clear thinking. :):giggle:

Technician told me just baking soda with warm water mixed to a paste would work fine, teeth, or dentures. Said if someone wanted a bit of grit with it add a few pinches of table salt. No need of much else. Recall my grandma on mom's side would brush her teeth once every six months or so, baking soda paste. We fussed, she always had good chompers.

When I asked a legitimate question about a problem I didn't expect to get attacked with smart ass remarks from jerks that are clearly immature. At least I heard from one person that also had the same problem and was able to give an answer that should shut the mouths of the assholes that replied so immaturely! I'll never post another issue on this website and hope others won't either!

Did not expect being seen as offering smart ass remarks, or as attacking either. Got involved conversing with others about dental issues and vaping generally. It seemed you had been responded to adequately. Your original posting served to spark general discussion, at least for some of us. Suppose engaging in small talk and general conversation is immature, smart ass, aggressive. Did not know that. Do now. Ergo, excuse me from all further conversation.

Not you per say but others that replied to me. I guess that's what I get for posting a problem on a public forum.

I try remembering something a boyfriend told me. "Everyone wants to be happy." Think it applies here. We all desire being happy, even to a point that we can often forget to "remember the human". That goes both ways and one way, as both ways create the whole way. We all need to be introspective as well as outwardly perspective.

Just too add The pH of our mouths plays a big role in determining what populations of bacteria flourish in our mouths. It’s generally recognized that the lower (more acidic) the pH in the mouth, the greater the risk of tooth decay. (Enamel demineralization occurs at pH 5.5 and lower)

You see, the bacteria that flourish at a pH of 5.5 find a pH of 6.5 or 7.0 downright inhospitable. Our job in managing our oral microbiome is to help maintain a mouth pH that encourages the probiotic bacterial populations that help us live healthy, vital lives.

You could try baking soda when brushing your teeth which can help in supporting a more alkaline oral pH. With a pH of 8.3, baking soda gently nudges the environment of our mouths to a healthier place.

Note: there are downsides to using baking soda like the abrasive effect on enamel check out the following link for the full report
https://www.orawellness.com/is-baking-soda-safe-to-brush-with/

Something else to take into consideration which I bet most of us don't

Just like other liquid, you should choose a good balance of PH level to get the best tastes when you buy or mix your own eliquid. Use a pH test strip to test it before you vape it.

It is advised that e-liquid pH levels should be between 6-8 for the ultimate taste.

In most cases, the PH level of eliquid will be on the side of alkaline. Because the ingredients of the eliquid, such as PG / VG are all alkalescent, even the flavor concentrate. So you can use some acidic juice or flavor concentrate, such as Lemon juice or Orange juice to counteract it.

Don’t forget to test the PH level after you added those acidic juice into your eliquid. Enjoy vaping and vaping healthily.

https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/2014...-vg-all-things-you-should-know-about-e-liquid

So all the threads on teeth and vaping on here could be linked to our different natural PH levels in our mouths these two tactics should help

The 2nd link was a good article, but, even though they mentioned that a "tiny percentage" of folks have an outright allergy to PG, they didn't mention that many people are sensitive to its drying/irritating effect, and that there are also a good many (though less than those irritated by PG) who find using much VG intolerable, because it bothers their lungs/breathing. The only folks who really understand that are vapers themselves, but that article seems to be written for those new to vaping, so it really should have been at least mentioned -- it might help cut down on folks who think they're dying because their vape either irritates their mouth/throat/sinuses, or now that they vape, they can't breathe properly.

Very true although I was coming from an angle of teeth health on these not so much on the irritation of the mouth/throat/lungs from VG/PG
