Experts feedback needed

Hey guys,

I have made a first(ish) step towards vaping by ordering some stuff (shown below) as I want to give vaping a go.

I am a casual smoker but sometimes with a little bit of stress or boredom I can smoke a lot. I have been on and off for a couple of years and currently my average smoking rate is 4 cigarettes a day. I know it's not much and I know if I want to quit I can easily do so with some discipline.

Despite that, I want to get into the vaping for the following reasons:
1- Nice hobby
2- Theoretically cheaper than smoking
3- All the good things about smoking (smoking area socialization, mini breaks every hour or so with fresh air outside etc...) without the negative health impact.
4- I am a geek so I see myself learning and developing in vaping faster than average, so it's nice to be able to get into it.
5- It's cool (subjective, but I think it is cool imo)

what "I Think" I want out of vaping for now:

• Convenience, convenience, and convenience. Very important for me. -> battery life is crucial.
• Not too keen on clouds and vapor production as much at least for now
• Flavor is important to me.
• Mouth to Lung is probably going to be my way for vaping (smoking cigarettes), I did direct lung with shisha too but I also smoked pipe which is only mouth and exhale, no lung. I still think MTL is going to be for me.
• I don't want to spend a lot.
• I want to be as healthy as possible. Nasty chemicals like Diacetyl and the likes.
• I think I would move fast to DIY e juice and DIY coils etc but let's give it a try first with something a little more simple.
• Temp control is preferred

Here is a list of the items I have bought based on the information I got watching all those videos and reading some articles:

I would like your opinion if someone has tried this setup before and feedback please. The items are currently on their way to me.

1- Mod: Eleaf iStick Pico 75W TC Box Mod - FULL BLACK (USD 21.99 including shipping to New Zealand)


2- Eleaf iStick MELO III Atomizer - SILVER/Black (USD 15.36 incl.)

this is the 4ml not the mini version. Unfortunately they don't have the all black one

3- Eleaf TC-Ti Head 0.5ohm Heads ($10.52 USD incl.) 5 pieces.

Hope it fits the Tank :S

4- Battery: 2x Sony Konion US18650VTC5A 2600mAh 35A ($19 USD) I know it is only 25A but the Kit needs something above 25A so it fits good. Just hope it's not a fake.


5- Premium juice: Halo Variety Sample Pack Nicotine Level 18 + Halo Gourmet Sample Pack Nicotine Level 12

Halo added a free gift: G6 On-The-Go Starter Kit



The idea is to use the Kit + Battery + Atomizer on Temperature control using the Titanium coils which to my surprise were cheaper than the EC ones. I hope this works :S if you tried it please let me know.

I am also wondering if I can use the Eleaf ECR COIL rebuildable coil with this tank if I want to make my own TC coils. Does anybody know about this?? You can take a look at it here: http://www.eleafworld.com/ecr-head-2/

I have also bought sh!t loads of small cheap e juice samples from different places to give them a try. I know they might contain some bad chemicals and all, but I just want to try them for a short period out of curiosity.

Please share your opinion freely and let me know if I have done anything wrong.

Yep, tried to get answers, but being a beginner, I got mostly a warm welcome from everybody

I can't speak for all of what you posted but I'll share a bit.
If you're just for flavor, you may try the Vaporesso cCell 0.9 coil.
These work well in the Melo III, are a ceramic coil, produce great flavor.
The coils you chose will be just fine, but thought I'd toss in something for your flavor arsenal.
That tank is a solid, heavy, well made piece.
The Sony VTC5s will treat you well as long as they are authentic.
Reviews on the mod seem to say it is good but I don't own that one so I can't provide any info.
The free kit....well if nothing else if it turns out you like it you can stealth vape with it or give them away.

I suspect the nicotine levels will be way to high, especially considering you're a casual smoker. I smoked 1.5 packs/day (for 30 years) and started at 18 mg/ml *but* that was on a little ego/ce4 combo. When you switch to sub-ohming (which you're starting with), you typically drop the nicotine level by half (so I would have started with 9 mg/ml). If I were you, I'd start with 3 mg/ml.

On the bright side, you might just try diluting your liquid. If you mix equal amounts (let's say 30 ml) of eliquid with plain VG, you'll end up with (60 ml) of 6 mg/ml eliquid.

Paratech I will try to get my hands on the coil you suggested, the higher resistance as I understand it means more flavor, less battery consumption, I wish it was a TC coil though. I am hoping the batteries are authentic too, I got them from the Netherlands on ebay but there is no way I can tell really

Barbara I think you're right, that nicotine level was a mistake, I was thinking if I get a higher amount of nicotine I will vape less, get a higher dose of nicotine and gradually drop it so that I can control the weight gain (something all quitters know about ) So if I dilute the liquid with VG, does it affect the flavor too much??

If you had the Hohm Wrecker G2 mod, all coils would be TC.

However it is NOT a small mod plus you already have a mod.
I just wanted to let you know the capability of doing TC on kanthal coil is possible.

You've got a great setup that will give you what you want. I like the Pico, small and has a fair amount of power. The only item I would change would be the batteries, I go with the LG HG2 3000Mah batteries. 20 amp CDR, but I doubt you'll hit 20 amps draw with the Pico. The extra capacity comes in handy sometimes.

It does dilute the flavor a bit but try it and see. What can it hurt?

Thanks Paratech for the tip, I will consider it for the next upgrade if I get sick of ready made coils or feel like a challenge or simply just to levelup.
Zamazam, I thought the pico needed 25A as it says in their website that's why I went for those batteries, if you think I should go for a 20A and it won't be a problem I would very much appreciate the extra capacity.
