LOL hello again! I washed mine up today before I put it together... I used dish soap and hot water, thorough rinse. Sometimes with just a flavor change, I'll hot water rinse, wash the drip tip. Easy peasy. Of course, you'll have to re-wick.

I need to learn how to re-wick :/
I just started wicking myself. Took me 3 tries to nail it without spitback and I got it perfect. So don't give up after a couple of tries. I'm not sure if your tank is like mine since they both have RDTA in the title XD but I'm using a vertical coil on a tank that's meant for two coils. Even then, I was getting heavy spitback from just one cotton covering the whole deck. So make sure you thin the cotton when you place it into the coil so it's not to thick. That's what worked for me :)

Personally for me, If you need a really good clean, I usually disassemble. Remove orings, then soak in vinegar with a little salt mixed in for a few hours. Then rinse off everything in warm water.

vinegar is better. it's one of the best cleaning agents out there for anything. vodka works too, but it's more harsh for less results then vinegar. vodka can eat paint off rda's , vinegar wont

From light to heavy metal cleaning by that order.

Water.
Soap and water.
Vinegar.
Vinegar and salt.
Two parts vinegar one part hydrogen peroxide (peracetic acid) short rinse, handle with care!

Why not dish soap?

I ALWAYS use it when I need an atty to be as clean as possible have had zero issues.

Vodka is terrible to use on a brand new atty, IME

A. I don't keep alcohol in my house. 12 years sober, not planning to change that anytime soon.
B. I've found dish soap to be the best thing, IME to remove machine oil. Haven't had any issue over this method in a squeak over 3 years now.

nothing wrong with soap. regular dish soap is a great cleaning agent that is gentle. it can be used to clean off car parts and air filters. I've used it to clean off exhaust wrapping when it got soaked in fuel. hell it's used to clean off animals during oil spills. I wouldn't use hand soap or fancy soaps but regular old dawn or Ajax or Palmolive will work fine

This is true: During the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Dawn dish soap was the preferred surfactant to remove oil from wildlife from otters to sea birds.

When my cat came home with some type of diesel on her fur, when we called the vet to try to get her cleaned up, they told us don't bring her in, wash her with Dawn. She came out of it just fine.

Snake is the first poster I've ever seen that claims you shouldn't use dish soap on attys.

Wrong

Sorry wrong...best cleaning agent ever is spit.

Then how come every car manufacturer and electronics manufacturer use pure ethanol to clean car parts instead of vinegar?

vodka can eat paint off rda's , vinegar wont
I have never ever heard of this happening ever.

Ever smell a really old pan?
Now imagine vaping from it.Oh yeah that's going to taste great.

Your analogies are not very spot on IMO. Attys are not auto parts or dirty dishes. Different crud, different processes that create the crud.

I generally wipe down the outside of my vapes/attys daily with a paper towel with vodka on it, and do a deep cleaning with vodka once a week.

When I need an atty to get really clean, I soak it in a small dish of warm (not hot) soapy water and dry.

Simple, effective and in 3 years of vaping, can't point to a single negative :)

We were talking about cleaning a dirty atty.To clean a new atty just wipe it down with a bit of distilled water on a paper towel.

You've never cleaned one full of machine oil then. Totally leaves machine oil residue if it has a lot on it. Fact.

wrong but i'm assuming this is a joke

Then how come every car manufacturer and electronics manufacturer use pure ethanol to clean car parts instead of vinegar?

depends on the part (i work in the generator industry) most of the cleaning done is from using simple green, sometimes depending on what it is (like i said we cleaned fuel out of exhaust wrap) we'll use dawn dish soap. We used to use misty, but then it became illegal in California due to causing cancer. It also stripped the paint off everything. ethanol is used as a fuel treatment to eternally clean engines, but i haven't seen it used when you take an engine apart. even the rare acid bath is used more. especially on radiators an acid dip is used to clean them out. Most visual parts of car engines are cleaned with armor all or dawn and water. thats what dealerships use to make the engine look all clean and new on used cars

I have never ever heard of this happening ever.

alcohol is a solvent it can strip paint, not as good as say paint thinner, but it surely can. Vodka eats up everything. thats why it's versatile. you can put fruit or gummy bears in vodka to infuse it. just let it sit and it eats it away. It's for sure more harsh then vinegar, more expensive then vinegar, and yields worse results then vinegar so why use it? as a pet owner i use vinegar to clean up accidents and litter boxes so i always have it. it's not harmful to pets where vodka is. Vodka would be the least practical thing to use. Not saying it doesn't work, of course it'll clean but it's not ideal or practical

Oh yes I have.Although not recently it seems the manufacturers of vape gear caught on to the fact that we don't like getting equipment with a fuck ton of machining oil in or on it.

I don't either, but people asking advice shouldn't be told impractical things. Sure i can wash my car with a toothbrush and it'll work, but i would never tell someone else to do it when there are better more efficient products.

Distilled only most tap water is vile.
Tap water is not vile, well unless you live in the sewers.
Never use soap period.
I bet you really smell.
Soap is excellent at removing machine oil from attys and though rubbing alcohol can remove oils too soap is more effective.
I hope you like pickles.
I do.
Vinegar is a weak oxidant.
Yummy salty pickles.
Even better.
Salt accelerates the process.
Are you insane?
The fact that you don't understand something doesn't make it insanity.
Peracetic acid is excellent at cleaning metals, it removes imperfections, it's used to remove surface led from brass and is used to create patina with long exposure.
I would recommend using it as a first treatment for any brass made atty, especially Chinese brass, provided that you have the necessary skill and safety gear.

no need to apologize, we all have different advice to give. I just try to be open for people that know more. I've learned quite a few things from people on here :)

Most people don't have their own source of fresh water.I feel bad for people that have to drink tap water that live in big cities like NYC.
A few years ago even my fair city started using (GREY WATER).
Fuck that noise...Really.

I don't what you have heard about NYC tap water but it's considered among the best tap water in the world. My 2 cents, I use Vodka and hot water. First a pre soak in Vodka to loosen everything up then I add hot water to break everything up.

I've heard the same about the water here, and it is quite good.

91% Isopropyl alcohol. I just soak the parts. Then shake off the excess. Evaporates fast, and clean. I'm 9 years sober, and haven't touched a drop Lol
That I have, I kinda always forget about it being in the cabinet, but no, I wouldn't drink it, either.

I lived in NYC for about 3months.

And as far as tap water is concerned the best tasting municipal water comes from Emporia, Kansas. The purest comes from Silverdale, Washington.

Me, I use tap water (live in the state of Washington) and unscented hyper allergenic dish soap. For deep cleaning I'll pop them in the ultrasonic with non toxic jewelry cleaner then run under running hot tap water for a good spell.

If tap water is good enough for you to take a shower with, then it's good enough to wash your atty.
In the past everyone drank tap water and they managed.

Think in terms of efficiency... tap water to clean initially, some kind of alcohol to finish.... Or a good detergent and skip the middle steps.

Just clean it!
