Going through juice too quickly

mud3

Member For 4 Years
I've only been vaping for a few months, started with blu. I liked them a lot but I was going through a 3 pack in about 4 days and at $15 it was too expensive to keep doing. I got a Kanger SUBVOD started kit to replace the blu as my first refillable setup.

I now realize that I'm going through juice too quickly because it's sub ohm. I also need to up my nic lvl. I really like this kit though. Is there a way I can use higher resistance atomizers with this setup? Can I use any part of this setup combined with something else to get the desired effect?

My current plan was to just grab a Kanger EVOD kit when I run out of atomizers for this. It doesn't look nearly as nice though.

Higher resistance can help.

I also find some atomizers just consume juice differently, even with the same build.

Personally, I also lower the wattage and close down the airflow, but that wont be everyones thing.

Drippers can help too, since they require more effort on our part to go through the same amount of juice as a tank. My current go-to "juice sipper" is a derringer running a single coil 28g/38g clapton @ 5/6 wraps (about 1.3ohms) @ ~22watts.

And, of course, we can just vape less or DIY juice and not give a shit either way!

I don't really want to get into making juice. The thing I like most about blu was the simplicity. Simplicity also was a large factor when I chose the Kanger SUBVOD kit.

You can get 1.2 & 1.5 ohm coils for the tank.

Oh, nice. And those won't have any problems with the battery?

What kind of difference can I expect with higher resistance?

I totally get it! It was just one suggestion of a few :)

I don't DIY, verde valley vapes is a great price point for me. When they do some of their sales, you can get down to ~$7-$8 per 100ml.

For my own needs, I tend to use .6ohm-1.3 ohm with low airflow and low watts. With those factors, my juice consumption is reasonable for me. I go through roughly 3-6ml a day.

I think its all about finding what balance works for you, and what you want out of vaping. Since I don't care about clouds, and prefer a cooler vape, its what works for me.

Yeah, I already tightened the airflow per your advice. I plan to get a higher resistance and I had no idea juice could be as cheap as some of these suggestions. I am currently going at about 6ml a day but the juice I had found was $11 for 15 ml. My bad for not looking into juice prices more.

I first started I was at 30ml a week and then it went up to 30mls every other day. I had to either quit vaping or go into diy. I did get satisfaction on sub ohm tanks. Lower resistance and higher wattage made me crave cigs less. But there you go into using a butt load of juice. Thus diy! It's not bad. Actually pretty easy after you get the hang of it. Cost up front is up there but it will last awhile. Makes juice more of the $2 range for 30 mls and that probably a higher estimate than it actually is.

I like the lower airflow on its own, but I love that it enables us to use lower wattage. The lower wattage is one of the biggest factors in saving that juice. I wasn't familiar with the subvod though, and it doesn't look like its adjustable.

The lower airflow may still result in smaller drags though, which will help. The most effective in your situation will be the higher resistance coils. No worries on the battery either, just keep it above .4ohm

The only thing to watch out for on the cheaper juice is that some is truly awful! There are some great companies too though, many of which you can find info about in the ejuice subforum here.

I found myself in the same position as you. What l did was to keep watts at 30. Reduce air flow. And change drip tip to a ming but you can angle the tip. This is a success for me. I consume way less liquid then l use to on my sub ohm set up.

I'm not an expert on things but maybe get a normal top tank instead of a sub ohm. I useally last a tank ( 3 ml ) a day and i vape every hour.

My coil is 1.2 Ohms at 15 - 20 watt with 12 mg/ml fluids. I use to smoke a pack a day and got no craving so far.

It's quite simple.
Higher wattage + bigger airflow = more vapor = more juice.

How many manuals did you smoke a day and for how long? I smoked a pack and a half a day for 33 yrs. when I started vaping I vaped 24mg sub ohm for about 2 weeks before I had to drop to 18mg due to headaches. I stayed there for 3 months before dropping again. If you are burning through juice in a Kanger then you are compensating for nicotine. Up your nic level, your body will tell you what's too much and when you've had enough. I go through a lot of juice, about 10-15 ml a day, in my drippers and RDTA but I also just dropped from 6mg to 3mg so I expect to over compensate until I adjust. Also it took me 3 months to withdrawal from all the addictive additives in manuals.

I only smoked for about 4 months. I liked the nicotine and thought it would be better to start vaping before causing too much damage with cigs. I had tried vaping in the past for weight loss purposes at 0mg. Thought I would be good at 3mg but I feel pretty much nothing from it. I didn't even realize the Blu's I had been vaping where 24mg. I have some V3 juice coming tomorrow at 6mg and I plan to get some 1.2ohm atomizers when I burn through the 5 pack of .5ohm ones I ordered to start with. At that point I will probably up the nicotine again.

I don't know what wattage this thing puts out... Its 3.4 volts if I remember right. It's not adjustable though.

With a 1.2 ohm coil, you are gonna want to up your nic. I have some 1.2 ohm crown coils that I bought, trying to reduce my juice consumption, I vaped twice as much trying to compensate with 12mg juice. I finally started building and have a Tornado I use for all day. I stopped worrying about juice consumption, and just vape. Some days I run through 10ml, others 15, and some nights I might vape less than 2ml in my Alliance or 13H9H. Some nights I get in a cloud kick and give myself a sore throat from dehydration. The nice thing about building is you can vape Max VG and buy bottles that cost about $0.30 a ml. All that said, do what makes you happy, or you won't stick with it. My profile pic shows one of my clouds. I love this shit. :)

In addition to all the good advise if you can build a higher resistance coil on a single coil tank like a Merlin your consumption will decrease.

PAYING IT FORWARD

Hey Mud3,
You've been getting all kinds of advice and you sound frustrated. My father just started vaping & wants to keep it simple for now. So I got him a few things that will keep it simple and will allow him to gradually move up.

I've got PLENTY of hardware & I'd like to share it with you for FREE. Hopefully you can adjust everything to where you want to be:
2x - Aspire BVC Tanks (In case something goes wonky)
1x - Beauty Ring - Stainless
1x - Box of 5 BVC Coils at 1.6ohms
1x - Unicorn squeeze bottle and small funnel
1x - Aspire Vision Spinner II - 1650mAh, Black Carbon Fiber,
Adjust voltage/power with the bottom dial. You can tweak your voltage and find your sweet spot. Not too cool/not too warm.... where flavor meets vapor. And, knowing your voltage, that will give you an indication of where you will be when you decide to move up.

You need to read your tank manual and your mod manual to see where they jive. It's a battery mod, so keep a USB cable with you. Depending on how much you vape will determine how often you need to charge it. I suggest your next move up would be a box mod like you have. The Subvod or Nano? The Read the manuals - watch videos!

Keep in mind that if you go to your local vape shop they can not touch your equipment. They 'may' offer you a little advice, but if you're lucky, you'll have other customers there that CAN touch your rig and help you.
eJuice - get one 18mg and one 12mg, 30ml bottles of the same eliquid. Try the 12mg. If it isn't quite doing it for you, try the 18mg. If that's to much, mix them (same flavor) to get you to around 15mg. I recommended that for my father and bingo, he's at 15. That will calm your craving for a vape - unless you like vaping or are using it for a tool to quit completely. For me, I had to start at 24 and I'm finding that 18 is my comfort zone now. If I need I kick, I put a few drops of 24 in my tank and I'm good. (BTW, my youngest son just turned 30 this weekend and he refuses to vape. Sad.)

This set up is VERY easy but I'm going to leave it to you to do your homework on your devices.

I hope this helped. Please, PM me if you are interested and we can arrange the gift in the appropriate forum.

Don't give up!

That is very generous of you but I'm afraid I am going to have to decline, I would not want your gift to go to waste.

I recently tried 1.5 coils and did not care for it. It seems I am stuck with sub ohm. I'm actually researching now and planning on buying something a bit more robust than my current SUBVOD.

Again, thank you very much for your generosity! It's very appreciated and is extremely encouraging to see when becoming part of a new community.

dont blow off diy so easily.. all you need is a good single flavor,,some nic , pg & vg and your ejuice ends up costing nearly nothing and you can vape like a monster for about $100 a year and 5 minutes of your time about 1 time a month.

i mix up 600 mls at a time to last me a month.. i dont even care anymore of the recipe is exactly as i created it.......its just what i like ....happy every day and not smoking.....and not supporting the govt with my tax $

if you like those little lemon shortbread cookies,, get some INW Lemon cake.......if you like sugar cookies get some Cap Sugar Cookie........play with the % to your liking.. (as time goes on and your taste buds heal expect to lower your %) buy a small bottle of whatever interests you so if you dont like it at all you wont be out much money or frustration. watch/search for 'stand alone flavors' there are several mentions... even 'OSDIY" is a flavor brand co that is pretty popular with cinnamon swirl.

ps--some of us like Neat,,, that is ejuice with no flavors,,its semi sweet. if you are still kind of high on your nic level it tastes a lot like a light cig.

I was a flavor chaser for about 3 years and spent tons of money. I found some great flavors, but it was getting too expensive. About 4 months ago, I decided to try flavorless. Works great and saves tons of money. Plus your coils will last for months. I do have lots of flavored juice lying around, so every 2 or 3 days I'll put a couple drops of flavor in the tank if I'm feeling bored.

If you'd like to give flavorless a try, check out these sites.

https://liquidnicotinewholesalers.com/unflavored-nicotine-liquid.html/

https://www.nudenicotine.com/product/3-36mgnicotinebase

Of course, you can add flavors to these as well. I'm just not into that any longer.

I can jump from sub ohm to MTL very simply -
It's just a few puffs and it's done the thing is I stack up in all 6mgs lol
I have some 18mg and a nautilus mini to bounce back and the cupti w MTL but need to grab a 16mg juice that I'll love-
My problem is I have to stay highest VG possible!
Best of luck
Only tank I want back is my subtank from Kanger for building I have given it away and regret it now so badly!
