Velocity v2 clone by tobecco.. 2 question.

I just got a velocity clone... so far I am loving it. I was wondering if the authentic version is any better? I don't really see how it could be since my clone works absolutely awesone. I didn't think it was going to be possible to get this much flavor without sacrificing cloud production. Question number 2.. what are some good wicking techniques when using cotton bacon? Since the Scottish roll says you need to use cotton pads. Thanks for any info in advance.

No difference. I have an FT $9 clone and one of my friends has a an authentic and I couldn't see or taste any difference. Maybe the veterans here can tell you better though.

Tobeco is one of the manufacturer that produce pretty good clones. I have two of the V1 clones, and a Velociy Mini as well as three Velocity V2 clones from FT. Haven't had any issue with either ones them.

I've got 2 Tobeco Clones and 2 Authentics, the difference is the build quality. There is a very noticeable difference. Like the grub screws tighten like butter, the cap pops on and off very smooth.

Yeah they did a few tweaks which improved the flavor a bit and a couple other minor things. Biggest advantage was actually making them again, I have been on the mailing list at Avid for ages. They finally came out with the V2 and after a few tries my timing was right and got one, then due to the FDA bullishit was lucky another time to get another for my backup stash.

Anyway, yes Avid did come out with a V2.

That and does it live up to all the hype? Oh hell yes it does, it is machined incredibly well, it's truly a work of art.

I initially bought a Velocity Clone that wasn't tobeco and the grub screws crapped out on me. I couldn't figure out the dimensions of the screws so I went ahead and just got the Tobeco Clone.

I've never tried the Avid Velocity but I am thoroughly impressed by the flavor production I get from the one's I have owned.
Great little RDA

Yeah I had an offshoot Velocity Clone that was complete shit, grub screws stripped out on my second build. To add insult to injury they were also non-standard, ended up tossing the piece of shit. I got a Tobeco Velocity clone later on and loved it so much I got a second. That's when I decided to sign up for an authentic and have been in heaven since I got it. Ended up Vaping forward one of my clones and just keep the second clone around for my FDA Stash.

But if you love the Clone I do recommend trying to get an Authentic, it's a pure joy to build on. The machining really is a work of art, it is my favorite RDA

If I can find one :D

they definitely were the innovators of the modern RDA style
I will keep a look out for any good sales that may come out from the Avid originals, thanks for the recommendation!

Buy the Tobeco Velocity mini. In terms of flavor, it blows the v1 and v2 out of the water at a great price. I got all of them, and the flavor is superb. I found the v1/2 to be lacking flavor. But as far authentic, Tobeco is on point with replicating. I am using the Tobeco Goon and it is just as good as the authentic (hubby has authentic Goon).

Tell me what kind of leaking we are talking about here. Does it look like round droplets (condensation) or is it like streaming downward out of the air flow slots? The leaking out happened for me if my cotton ends were too long and therefore pushed the juice higher than it needed to be. I would say cut your cotton shorter than you would use in the Sapor (as it uses a top airflow and long cotton wouldn't matter).

I second this. I have an authentic from Insignia Design and I tried a friend's Tobeco clone. The quality by far is second to none, quite noticeable on the authentic, as always. Better materials; US metals > anything from China and machining is top notch. And he's right about the grub screws, screws on the clone weren't as good.

Also, I noticed on his, the "Delrin" isn't delrin, his plastics parts are kinda' melting from sub ohming. Mine isn't. It's real Delrin.

I owned a Velocity V1 clone but it ended up in the trash. At first it was ok, but after a while of usage the screws stripped out and the positive post was kinda wired angled (i guess the insulator couldn't stand the heat). Clones are nice to try things, but if you really like the function, get an authentic (it will last longer) and support the manufacturer.
