Another state PA adds a Tax Bill that is forcing shops to go out of business.

This is very close to home.

Closing. Unfortunately yesterday 7/15/2016 Pennsylvania has signed into law a 40% Wholesale tax. Because of this UltimateVapeDeals can no longer exist.

Now that PA has this 40% tax the other neighboring states will pick up on this bill with thinking they can make some extra tax revenue but little do they know no revenue will come from it since most will close shop.

I live in NJ just a couple min from PA. A good friend of mine owns Preferred Vapor in Croydon and Feasterville. It's a real shame. I agree many will buy out of the State. But unfortunately, by essentially cutting off availability of vapor products throughout the state or making them un-affordable, less people will be exposed to vaping and far fewer will be moving off tobacco products. There will also be a percentage of people who will switch back to smoking since vaping will be more expensive and largely unavailable. So in the long run, I dont think they care if the shops close, because they will "stop the bleeding" and regain smokers. They also increased the tax on cigarettes. They expect the increased tax on cigarettes to generate $430 million, where they only expected vapor tax to produce $13 million. This also supports the next generation of PA smokers (since vape will be hard to get or too expensive) which will generate many, many more millions in the long run. They should be ashamed of themselves.

PA is greedy, just recently philly passed the 'sin tax' on sugary drinks from soda to energy drinks. I'm going to laugh when it becomes a ghost town and they can just tax each other in one big circle jerk.

They should be doing the opposite. Tax increase on smoking and tax credits to those who switch to vaping. The shop owners should be thanked and rewarded for adding job opportunities to the local economies. I just don't understand why government officials want to shut down or stop progress to the vaping phenomenon.

We live in a world where the people seek instant gratification. Doesn't require thinking ahead, doesn't matter who gets hurt now or in the long run, just as long as they are satisfied for the moment. They're haters, and haters will hate. When vaping is crushed, they'll find someone/something else to step on.

So I live in PA, and theres a Vape shop right up the street that I go to somewhat often. The owners have 2 locations now, and the last few months have dumped A LOT of money into opening a 3rd spot and in expanding the current 2. So what exactly is that 40% tax gonna do? Is it gonna cause shops to charge 40% more to cover that tax? Or what? Ive been outta the loop for a while now in the vape scene.

Considering the way most retail places operate, a 40% tax likely means prices will go up 50%. Enough to cover the tax and a bit extra to shove in their pockets. Just like companies all seized the opportunity to include a 'fuel surcharge' when fuel prices in the u.s. jumped up to nearly $4gal in my area.

So what happened when gas prices dropped well below $2gal? Those fuel surcharges stayed in place. Something meant to be a temporary means to offset the then high price increase to local corporations so they wouldn't have to raise product prices. So much for temporary, they've been hosing people for years now all because gas got expensive for awhile.

This wasn't just some mom n pop retail store that didn't know any better, it was a nationwide auto parts chain. Retail places are typically opportunists and if they don't charge outrageous increases due to some sort of conscience they'd likely be the minority rather than the standard.

In the UK they will being bringing in this tax also, to reduce obesity. So if you apply the same philosophy to vaping then it is clear the idea is to close the industry down.
