Good day all. I should've been here a long time ago. I was on the other forum until I got tired of all the elitist and know it alls that you couldn't say anything to without getting shot down in flames even if you proved them wrong, including the CASAA reps and mods. But that's the past and I'm over them and their high and mighty ways.

First up, I'm a college professor teaching pretty much any class in the language arts field and I also teach some teacher education classes. I've been at it since 1995 starting in the public school hell and paying my dues teaching middle school. Once I got to the point where I got physically ill just thinking about going in to work of a day I decided it was time for a change. So I went back to school and earned my graduate degree in 2006 and finally finished my PhD in 2014. Way before all this I was in the US Army for 8 years, 1982-1990. Once the wall fell and we won the cold war, I decided that it was time to find an occupation where I had a bit more control over my life. I've been married to my wife for 9 years, no children of my own, however, my wife has two, a 19 year old daughter who has Asperger's syndrome and is one of the most intelligent young ladies I've met and is attending college now. Her son is 15 and keeps me on the go fishing almost everyday since I bought us a boat. My wife has been an LPN for 26 years and is also back in school to finish up her RN degree.

My vaping story, I started back in November of 2012 when I bought my first kit from V2. I had been smoking for 30 years at that point and decided I'd better quit. I had a stroke in 2007 yet I still continued to smoke. I vaped and smoked up until the sub ohm tanks came out and finally quit smoking altogether just over a year ago. I started with the pen styles, moved to the VV batteries and now I've been using mods for the past almost two years. I just starting building my own coils last week and am really loving that. It's something I thought I'd never get into because of the effects of the stroke and having arthritis. But a month ago my doctor put me on steroids (prednisone) to relieve the inflammation. I couldn't take NSAID's due to stomach issues because the caused gastro intestinal bleeding. This medication has given me new life as far as my activity level goes. It also helped the pain and now I can do so much more I couldn't do before. Anyhoo, I digress. Finally quitting smoking has also given me a better feeling of being able to breathe easier and lowering my blood pressure. I'd love to get my wife into vaping, but after failing quite a few times I've given up. She's just not ready to make that change and with her in school, just the pressure of that alone in enough without trying to quit smoking too.

Well if you've read all of this and have made it this far, thanks for reading and I really look forward to meeting all of you and chatting it up at some point.

Be well and VAPE ON my friends. BTW, if you ever have any need for an English tutor, please feel free to PM me. Teaching is my life and I love to help those who need it.

Cancer support for members and family, one of those is my brother

Oh, very cool, I'm all for that. I lost my best friend of 30 years to bladder cancer in October 2011. Every time I hear the song "Mona Lisas and Madhatters" by Elton John I get a little teary eyed. He was a big EJ fan and that was his favorite song.
