Nic Storage in HDPE?

Total DIY noob question.

I just grabbed more than a lifetime worth of 100mg nic (5 total gallons) from 2 different vendors due to the potential end of the vaping world coming upon us and I was curious if it would be a total bad thing in the short term (i.e. less than 6 months, most likely just a month) if I stored the nic in my chest freezer still in the white HDPE bottles that it's shipped in?

I know from all the endless searching I did that its best to store the nic for long term in amber or blue glass bottles but since I just way over shot my "vudget" if it would dramatically hurt the nic if left up to a month or so in the HPDE bottles? Getting enough glass to hold 5 gallons won't exactly be that cheap either so I wanted to spend the money on the base first while the deals were good.

Thanks in advance and sorry the total DIY noob question, just trying to learn as I go :)

For short term, the plastic is ok, but maybe better in the fridge than freezer; it would get nearly as much protection from light as in the freezer, but stay pourable, and the fridge temps would be easier on the plastic than freezer temps would be -- plastic can get brittle at too low a temp. That's typically what I do, storing it in the fridge for several weeks sometimes before I have the glass bottles or the time to get it freezer-pkged.

5 gallons=18.9 liters
You'll probably be OK for a month.

Not if it's 100mg nicotine -- I've got 2.5liters that will last for the rest of my life, given that I'm 55 already -- 30+ yrs maybe.

I agree with Andria. Put it in fridge until you have the bottles.

I'll probably vape that in a week or 2, LOL!

Thanks everyone for the feedback, I'll check out Packaging Options Direct for bottles, they seemed pretty cost effective. Not sure if all this will fit in the fridge though, it's only a 20CF fridge and we still have food in there :D

For a short time, you could store it in a dark closet or cabinet, as long as it doesn't get too warm there. The main thing to protect it from is light. The cold temps are to slow it down on a molecular level, for long-term storage, but for short term, just dark or dimness is acceptable.

I thought I read somewhere that plastic degraded slower in the freezer than in warmer temperatures? I'd stick it in the freezer until you can break it down. I kept some PG in the freezer in those white plastic jugs for some time (it was hot here), and that was just as good when it came out as when it went in.

I would get many very small glass bottles each with the size suitable for one batch.
Fill each one to the brim to minimize oxidization and put all of them in the freezer.
I suppose you will have to get a freezer just foe that purpose.

That's a lotta glass!

That's certainly true! It's not the first time I've gotten an email discount offer from them more suited to a commercial operation and not so much for a DIY'er such as myself.

Actually found a nice little 5CF chest freezer from Best Buy that I might grab for $139 :D
