So one day at work I was setting up a mech mod for my boss and didn't have a spare RDA with me. I thought "aha" I have one in my car, I went out to my car. Screwed on the TANK and proceeded to fire it to see if it was working group properly. About a half second went by and I thought. Good lord I've made a mistake but before I could drop it I made myself a pipe bomb and it went off in my hand. The tank was an Atlantis and that decided to shoot directly into my eyebrow (I'm lucky I stI'll have two eyes to be honest) the rest of the mod basically had peeled apart and completely destroyed me. 6 hours later and 10 stitches I had to walk home (still drugged) 6 miles because none of my computer workers wanted to pick me up.
Moral of the story, double or even triple check each setup before you fire people. It's easy to get Gung ho about a a new build or RDA etc but be safe

As soon as I get home in a bit I've got them on my other phone. Gore for sure. You can almost see my skull in one of them. I'll keep that to myself. Don't need the anti vaping advocates to get a hold of that one

Glad you're going to be OK after that!

Even though most all of us know the rules I think we can easily get kind of relaxed over time, maybe even overconfident. I carry a small regulated backup mod with resistance checking when I'm using a mech nowadays after a couple hard shorts in years past.

Thank god i don't have any mech mods all mine are regulated.
One time i had a vape pen in my pocket and i started feeling really hot in my lap. The fire button was pushed and i didn't notice, that's how accidents happen, i try not to keep mods in my pocket specially while I'm driving

Try and make it a habit of turning them off when not being used. I'm a big safety advocate

Your story is enough for the anti-vaping groups. Seriously, why do people still use gear that even has the SLIGHTEST ability to do this? With all the regulated devices out there? People want vapers to be taken seriously, but yet we still have this stuff happening. Yes, accidents happen. But why chance it when other devices (regulated) achieve the same experience without the "user-error" possibility. I 100% support vaping, but come on. Thats like being a gun advocate, but using a gun that was built in a wood shed.

First of all, I'm glad that you vape, good to stay of the stinkies. Now, as for the mech mod rant, you really should do some research. Mech mods are like guns. They have a purpose in the right hands. You have full understand Ohm's Law to use a mech responsibly. Understand the voltages and amp limits of you batteries. Mechs produce amazing flavour and vapour. That is the reason people use them. Do your research before making unfounded statements. I said those words once myself before I researched mechs. Sorry guys and gals, just had to clear that up. Rant over.

Because all mods arent equal. I use series mechs A LOT, and there is a big difference in the way they feel vs a regulated mod set to the same specs. I dont know why, but I dont really care either. The series mechs just work much better than a regulated does at the same power set. It is what it is.

That said, I have 8 or 9 mechs, 5 or 6 of them series or parallel, and I havent ever had an issue with them.

Id be interested in knowing exactly WHY the batteries went off, OP. What was the cause? There are more than a few people here who use tanks on mechs with no issues. Was it a direct style connection or something? Really would like to know.

Lawsuits open..... I saw a commercial where a legal team is asking for everyone who has been injured by ejuice devices or by battery injuries to contact the law offices of blank and blank...... These cases are everywhere, specially in China......

the tank did not have a protruding 510 connector and i didnt think to look at the time until about .5 seconds into me firing it. basically the battery vented and the mod i was using(cant remember as this was in feb and i own 10+ mechs) made itself a pipe bomb.

The Atlantis Tank + Hybrid Top Cap = Pipe Bomb - EVERY TIME

Just about every exploding mod incident has the Atlantis tank and a hybrid top cap mech involved

Other incidents include:

Loose 18650 in pocket with keys and/or change

Ego Style device with wrong charger

And one dude was carrying a Sigelei 150 in his pocket that he lost the battery door to along with keys and change
At least he totally admitted it was his fault in the news story.

2 other methods of vape mod douchery to watch out for. Its not always the batteries going off...

1 was a guy who threw his mech mod (looked like a Cherry Bomber or other boxy mech) into his backpack with the batteries installed. Something pressed the switch and it fired until it caught fire and set the office on fire.

Then just a month or 2 later another guy put his mod in his back pocket with the batteries installed and the power on, and it fired until it caught his pants on fire.

These both happened at the company I work for, in their network of facilities, and because of those incidents they banned any and all vape equipment inside any of their facilities worldwide (its an uber large, world wide, Fortune 200 company). They didnt wanna hear anything about whos fault it was or what happened, there was no discussion or even warning. Just came to work one day and there was a memo posted on the door.

You know it might not be a bad idea for the government to make an effort to make it safer..... It's how they do it..... I understand you want to make a e- juice that's safe, you fill out an application and pay testing fees to have it tested, then if it passes as a safe alternative you pay an amount to have it patented ..... And now every juice you make goes through the same procedures until they are all safe and consumable........

With mods is more of a challenge, the company selling the mod has to somehow take out a bonded insurance to get the box tested and sold in the USA..... This will help if the mod explodes or burns your house down.

I do see some regulations might help..... So don't see the government as a negative suppression agency...... We just need fair and safe regulations......

Regulations can be a good thing, if they are to be fair and not designed to only benefit the big and powerful to maintain the status quo. Or to extort more money from the working class. Which the current regulations and laws being enacted clearly are designed to do

These guys piss me off..... And they are the ones complaining about the FDA...... They are the ones who should be targeted not the little guy who's trying to make some money selling ejuice and building mods in their garages to try to make a living......

Sometimes the poor suffer while the rich get richer......

Car accidents, gun accidents, plane crashes, the list goes on... Accidents are unavoidable in the life we live. If you drive/ride to work in a vehicle you are risking your life. All we can do is learn from mistakes and be careful. Vaping is no different from anything else. How many car accidents do you think happen in one day? Yet we deal with it an accept the dangers and life goes on.

I've had my share of idiot moments building box mods and I learned from each one.

Seems a little aggressive for me sharing a experience that I clearly knew was my fault and in no part blamed the manufacturer or anyone else for that matter. That brings up something Ive been pondering for a while.

With all the new cars coming out with self stopping and parking and other "safety" features that basically takes awareness and competence from the driver,
WHO is to blame if the auto features fail?

Is the car at fault or the driver? Will insurance companies blame the driver or the automaker? And if someone gets hurt or killed because the auto breaking features fail, who gets sued or thrown in jail, the driver or the manufacturer.

What happens when a driver that gets used to not having to pay attention gets in a car that does not drive and think for you and gets in a wreck because they assumed they dont have to pay attention?

Yep... I don't think I'm really liking this whole idea. But, then again, I am old and resistant to change. Just sounds like a whole shitload of problems waiting to happen to me.

those newer cars still require you to "supervise" the cars driving.. you still need a valid liscense and insurance to take one on the road, so any malfunction of the vehicle will be the drivers responsibility since you can override it.
kind of irresponsible marketong if you ask me i see commercials with people reading and sleeping while the car is driving itself.

Havent seen those ads, but it does show people distracted and the car stopping all by itself because the driver is not paying attention. I dont get it, but maybe because Im older too.

Its going to be interesting to see how the insurance companies and lawyers deal with accidents. Im sure there will be suits against the manufacturers because drivers will say that the car failed .... sure.....
