I see this quite often, and alot of the times we have so many entries we dont have the liberty of hand picking people. We let gleam cycle thru, invalidate people if they did something and deleted it. I am sure there are people that dont like me here and thats fine and all. I do gleam contests because the way I see it with all the stuff I give away might as well get a couple followers/subscribers. Its the least I think I deserve with literally over 4k worth of items every month or so. We give the most away, and we feel that we should. Its truly making the best of the situation. I dont see other vendors giving away 1k in a contest. And alot of the time the people that comment on the threads here at VU arent the winners. I figure id put my 2 cents in because I am a contest holder that uses gleam. If people dont like it then dont participate. We have had over 200 winners that all have claimed their prizes. Sure some of them are not customers and only participate in contests which kinda sucks. But it is what it is.

If you are doing a random draw based on your entry requirements, then plus one for you. I think that the problem lies with vendors that award prizes based solely on the exposure that they will receive from the contest winners. In other words, not random at all. On the other hand, if I have to complete 10 different actions and continually repeat some of them for a snowball's chance in hell of winning, then NO... I'm not playing. I don't have anything against those types of giveaways, but I'm just not going to participate. Peace out!

Yea, still see it on a daily basis, some just have no class , but do VERY well in the GREEDY department, Hopefully the vendors catch on and disquailfy the gnats
You make a contest that is strictly one entry per person, no spam bullshit of any kind involved, I might be inclined to enter. I don't want your shithole stupid newsletter. I have no trust that you won't sell my information. I don't want to be seenas "that asshole" who's spamming up his friends every time there's a new shitty trinket to be had. Until a vendor puts up a contest with single entry, fuck the hell off. You're not worth my time. Nor do you deserve my business with those shitty practices.

And yes I'm one of those who puts contest/giveaways on for vendors.
1) I'm not a vendor. Vapers United just plays the middleman (woman).
2) On forums, I do try not to spend a whole lot of time any contest thread. I don't want anyone thinking that I'm playing favorites. And frankly I'd most likely fall for too many sob stories and then feel horrible if they didn't win.
3) Random is a must for me. I get the number of the last post and fetch the lucky number. I don't want to know the winners name until that is accomplished. So far I've only had one back to back winner in the year or more that I have done this or a higher being above is watching out for me. At least I think it just happened once. Hey my memory isn't what it use to be.
LOLSeeing how many like the no back-to-back winner, I might just throw that into the contests rules. See how it goes.
4) I do not like those who tend to spam the contest. At least for those who do it just to win win win. And it's pretty easy to tell those who do that to those who play to entertain themselves: Game junkies and I'm not saying that in a bad way since I'm sort of that way myself. Heck I use to do it and then, if I won, I'd give it to the PIF effort. There are people here like that and they are a great addition to the forum.
I do visit the thread off and on while the contest is running to catch those who are obviously out to grab. Hasn't been a major problem of late. Not that I noticed anyway. I also have to exclude those who are just contest players and those are easy to spot since they play on and on even if they hit a really long spell of not winning.
When I first started doing this stuff for vendors, I would mention that anyone over doing it would be eliminated. Seemed to stop the worst of it.
On the other side of this there are just those who like to play. I guess it gives them something to do while here or just a reason to be here.
5) One post entries are good up to a point. One of the main goals of the whole thing is to keep the thread moving so it remains up in the "Recent Post"

In the end all I can say is, forums or Facebook, it's a little complicated. For me anyway. Especially since I go to great means not to play favorites.
