I've had pens in the past but always end up losing them and feel like I'm missing something so I think I want a box for the feel of a pack and harder to lose lol. Please help with a recommendation cheaper better but want a good all around vape probably max of 100-150 for the right one that will last me because I'm really gonna stick to it this time! hope to hear back soon looking forward to it and trying to get myself a birthday present before Friday thanks

There's the iStick Pico Kit by Eleaf, or the Evic VTC Mini kit. Both require a 18650 battery, like a LG HG2. The battery can be charged via USB. However, on the long run, you want to get a suitable charger.

Second the Pico, nice and compact, goes to 75w which should carry you a long way. It's like $30 + battery purchase. Then of course you'll need a tank. If you're a smoker, how do you smoke? Personally I guess I was "doing it wrong" as I always just strait inhaled, but most will suck it into their mouth then inhale what is in their mouth. If that's how you did it we call that Mouth to Lung (MTL), and a good tank would be something like the Nautilus or GS Tank. If you strait inhale it's known as Direct to Lung (DL) and there's a plethora of good tanks for that.

Anyways, Pico at $30, then I'd pick up something like a Samsung 25r or LG HD2C battery (about $5 each). Then might want to grab 2 batteries and an external charger so you can just swap when the battery runs out instead of having to charge it up through USB. Then for the tank Nautilus($20) would be a great starter if you like MTL. Might want to grab some extra coils while you're at it though, they tend to last about a week (you get 2 with the initial tank purchase).

All in all without an extra battery or extra coils and no external charger you'd be looking at 30+5+20= $55 plus probably around $10 shipping ordering from those 2 sites I linked (BTW you may be able to find cheaper suppliers, those are just websites I regularly use, usually good prices and US so shipping it's there in a few days, unlike china which takes 2-3 weeks at least). Add on an additional battery an a decent charger($20), additional battery($5), and extra coils($15) and that's about $40 additional, so ~$105 and you'd be set for a while minus juice. So $65-105 to get set up with this.

The Pico Kit comes with a Melo 3 tank.

Aye, but it's a DL tank? One of MANY options if that's the route they want to go.
It's kind of a bad DL tank (too restricted for me). However, IMO it can be used as a MTL with the 0.5 Ohm coils and the AFC adjusted accordingly.

I think I might be a direct to lung smoker. I smoke cigs way faster than everyone I know if that helps and I take big drags. So most of you would go with the evic and I guess I'll probably just get 2 tanks so I can figure it out.

IMO, both mods are excellent devices. It's up to you to decide, which to get.

Well most is 2...

The Evic mini is probably one of the most popular mods out there for single battery setups, and rightfully so. The Pico is newer but I know at least a few people that have replaced their evics with it, and I know I love my Pico. It's just nice and small and easy to pocket. As Neuner said, both are great and you can't really go wrong with either.

One thing worth mentioning to anyone new to using 18650 batteries though, stick to Sony, Samsung, and LG batteries. All the other brands out there are lower quality, often higher priced, and usually lying about the specs of the battery (will be labeled 35amp when it's really a 15amp rating).

I'll try and get a picture up later comparing it to a pack of cigarettes, but the thing is you have to remember the tank on top of it. I'd say it's probably the same as a pack of 100's minus a little notch above the battery compartment.

I went pico and then picked another tank as I didn't like the melo personally but I guess I know now since it was a DL. Pico has been great so far!

You're talking Evic VT?! With a build in battery, that will fail eventually. You'll have to look for a new mod then. However, with 8/8/2016 approaching, 99% of all Vaping products are gone. With a replaceable battery, chances are better, to use your mod longer.

So the products will still be there for a couple more years though, right?

I'm very satisfied with my Vapeberri kit after a month of use. Everythings adjustable, holds a charge well, tank is large enough for all day use for me, small and light enough to be easy to carry. Well made kit IMHO!

I've read of some issues with this. You're safer to purchase something that's been around a little longer and has been tried and tested by many.

As for all box mods being around for at least 2 years - I doubt it.

I have the IPV5 and really like it, you can get one at ecig.com right now for something like $40. However, as mentioned by @AmandaD , it's not without its issues. I personally would check out the cool fire 100w TC kit. It's got a built in battery, comes with a good tank and has all the features you will need if you decided you like higher wattages or want to try out temp control. It's made by innokin who is known for their quality and well made batteries. You can probably do better than the price listed below but have a look at the link to check out the kit. Good luck

I have to agree with @Neunerball the Evic VTC is probably the best box for a beginner! And the Evic VT i think it's a grate option to you don't need to bother with having extra battery with you or a charger for the battery is USB charger.

Seems @Neunerball was attempting to steer them away from the Evic. You may want to consider a box mod that allows you to use replaceable batteries.

http://www.ecig.com/cloupor-gt-80w-box-mod.html This looks like a good option. For myself though I am getting away from regulated mods. That means the mod has a chip or electronic junk in it that can and will foul up. I am looking to mechanical mods.

Here's another decent regulated mod what lets you swap batteries. http://www.ecig.com/smok-r200-mod-stainless.html I have not any drastic issues with any Smok gear I use. That does not imply there will not be, only that so far so good.

This might be a decent mechanical. Though, I would be concerned about venting holes for it. http://www.ecig.com/ohmega-mechanical-mod.html

Yes steer away from the Evic VT, not the Evic VTC Mini. Two different mods.

They seem different to you, maybe, because one allows use of battery. To me they are both regulated and more similar than I like. For a beginner? I reckon it may be a good mod to start on. Most are that at the least.

With the FDA regulations, I'd rather buy a mod with the ability to change the battery/batteries.

Evic VTC minis are not bad devices for beginners. Usually people end up buying a different tank, because the one it comes with isn't the best. I believe the newest one has the Cubis on it. Couple customers said they have never ending gurgle problems with it.

I always like to recommend the VTC over the VT because having a built in battery like in the Evic VT has potential for future problems. With a mod you take the battery out...you don't have to worry about it not charging anymore because usb is broke, or it losing its battery life over time like a cell phone. You can always just buy a new battery or a separate charger rather then a new mod. :)

Kind of my thinking too. When the electronics go out there you are stuck with a paper weight. You have swappable batteries, move the battery/ies to another mod. Got swappable batteries have extra battery/ies on charging to swap with one needing charged. I think, why not eliminate electronics going bad by not having them? Use a mech.

But the question was "best all around box for a noob"? The word best to me implies way too much subjectivity. Vaping is all geared to end user choice. One day I might want a mech, the next I might like a regulated. Which is 'best' for me? You call it tomato, I call it matter, someone else could come along and call it all off. Come to find out, it's all the same apple. :)

Yeah I agree, they were talking about Evics so I think that's what is of interest at the time.. Every customer I have dealt with I ask a series of questions almost like an interview, because there are so many devices out there and so many personalities.. Its definitely subjective, but it sure is fun trying to help someone find the best mod for THEM. Had an older couple come in once and you would think they would want something simple. But ended up leaving with a sigelei 150 with a tfv4 lol Best all around mod for a noob? Honestly, there is no correct answer, what's best for one person isn't for another.

Love this Hotcig dx200 it really cool scribe and stuff is hard to figure out but I'll get there. I need
A charger tho for the lipo battery's and don't know what to get

I too, am new to vaping and I got an aspire Nautilus mini and an MVP 20w. Because I was just getting off the cigarettes I was still a mouth to lung hitter so everything else was just to strong for me. It worked wonderfully and have been cigarette free. I have since moved up and gotten new devices but for me that set up was the best. Just my opinion.
