Vaping after having tooth pulled

What you think?

Had a wisdom tooth pulled this morning. Obviously dry socket is a concern, what with the suction and vacuum forming while puffing on the butt of a stoogie, but how about vaping? Im using a series box and a Twisted Messes Squared with the airflow wide open, so theres really no "suction", its more like inhaling. You think that could still cause the blood clot to dislodge?

Using the series box Im really just taking second long pulls and with the airflow wide open its not really at all comparable to smoking a cigarette or using a straw. Anyone else ever dealt with this? Any advice?

I remember when I got mine pulled (all 4 at once) they didn't recommend me even drinking from a straw. BUT I'd imagine that if there is no restriction you'll be fine. I was still smoking back then and sure as hell wasn't going to go without, so I just too very light draws. It'd be like "slip streaming" to get a lung hit on a tight atty. The rule of thumb I went by was if it doesn't make my cheeks pull in, it's not creating enough pressure to cause a dry socket.

I am not a doctor or a lawyer, please don't take this as the most accurate assessment.

I did get a dry socket, smoking cigarettes. However, you should be able to avoid it by rinsing your mouth with a salt and water solution, or even better, camomile tea (camomile is an anti inflammatory), after vaping. Make sure it's 100% camomile!

My thought is the same. I imagine it would take a fair amount of negative pressure to pull the blood clot loose and out of the socket. Theres probably a very slight amount of suction when I draw in, but its pretty airy and I dont feel like itd be enough. Plus using the series box, it feels more like the mod is blowing the vape to me rather than me pulling it in.

I think I should be good, just wanted to get opinions and experiences from people who might know.

But hey, on the plus side, if I DO get a dry socket, at least theyll probably give me another bottle of pain meds lol. Theyve already given me 2 bottles in as many weeks.

Well its not the smoke or vapor that causes it, right? Its the suction pulling the clot away from the socket. At least thats how the doc made it sound anyways. He specifically told me not to rinse today since it was just done this morning, but Ill start doin that tomorrow.

I'm unsure, what actually causes the dry socket.
Rinse your mouth gently with either aforementioned liquids.

Dry socket is when the formed blood clot that is in the hole where the tooth was , comes dislodged from the pressure of the sucking inside the mouth , like what happens when you suck on a straw(milkshake) too hard. The blood clot socket is a protective layer that helps heal where the tooth was and is very tender and acn be dislodged very easily , like with the straw and milkshake type sucking pressure.
Vaping mimic's that type of pressure.

After an extraction years ago,My Dr. told Me to get a milkshake and eat it with a spoon, letting the cold numb it and the milk will heal the wound quicker....So I got Me a large "Frosty" from Wendys....It worked!.... Plus then I smoked ciggs using a "Power Hitter" left over from My Hippy years....

You're good if you still have the gauze in.
If not then you could pop a cotton ball in when you vape to be sure the clot stays put. I'd deffinatly cut down as much as possible until it heals though.

I vaped after three separate tooth extractions (using very open draw atties) with no problems.

I had a wisdom tooth pulled about a year ago, I was vaping on the way home, no problems to report, but everyone is different.

I hate just about anything to do with the word tooth, tooth pulled, tooth filled, tooth capped, the only one I can tolerate is tooth brushed

I've been having all my top teeth pulled so I can get implants. (very poor genes) I have vaped with all my extractions with no problem. The first 7 or so hours, I have a buttload of gauze in my mouth and then afterwards I just take light airy draws. To be fair though, I've not had any of my wisdom teeth out yet.

Ive been vaping pretty normally since I got the tooth pulled Tuesday, and now so far havent had any problems. Im havin more problem keeping positive pressure in my mouth than having problem vaping. You dont realize how often you create a vacuum in your mouth until you have to be aware of it.

Ive had a half dozen molars pulled out and was warned not to smoke (or straws etc) by the dentist, and each time as I drove away.. as a (then) committed smoker I lit one up. Now, I did drag very minimally, and I did continue to bite down on the cotton gauze roll and had no issues.

Now, as a vaper, I would have less concerns than I did before. Vaping doesn't generate nearly the same suction level as smoking, Id think (unless you have a heck of a tight MTL rig).

I'd say.. don't freak out about vacuum levels in your mouth so much that you start to try to talk differently and such. It's not *that* critical. But at the same time, dont go out for a super-thick milkshake and dont try to siphon gas.. stuff like that.

I just had my entire top row of teeth removed in order to get dentures (I am only 31 but broke my jaw pretty bad and dentist couldn't save the tops) but anyway. I have had prior to this time 12 extractions over the years including baby teeth in order to get braces. Ever since I've smoked/vs per I've only ever been able to wait about 6 hours. My information I took home plus what surgeon told me was IT IS THE AUCTION ACT that causes dry sockets. I enhale with my chest when I vape so I don't see why that would matter but I have noticed I get AWFUL DRY MOUTH just from vaping any day. So I'm not risking it. Plus if I put vape up my nose and do it like that it never reaches my mouth.

I had 4 wisdom teeth removed at once a few years back. i gave up vaping for a week. trust me it's not worth it. you don't want complications and another office visit. Just refrain for a week and you'll be fine

I just had 7 teeth pulled last week. I vaped with no issues. I took shorter inhales and drank plenty of water to prevent any chance of dry mouth. I never drank out of a straw. I had dry socket back when I was still smoking, it is not fun and I made sure it wasn't going to happen this time. Please remember I am not a dentist or doctor, this is just what I did.

I know it is nasty, but rinsing your mouth and spitting too much is one of the biggest no nos. The first couple pullings I had got dry sockets, probably from all the spitting I did. I spat so much cause it was so gross.
I found that I avoided dry socket by avoiding rinsing for the first day or so, then to pretty much let the salt water fall out of the mouth. No spitting at all for a few days. I still smoked gently that time too but wouldn't recommend doing anything that sucks your mouth in.

Buy and keep a ton of paper towels nearby for all the bloody drool if you don't want to swallow it. lol

Edit: Oops necro thread?

id say make sure to keep the sides of your lips open when inhaling so its more like youre taking a breath. Im missing 2 molars, i hated the feeling of eating for weeks until i got use to it.
