I don't understand what's up with my Merlin. The tank works good (no leaking, juice control is easy to move, etc). My problem is I get almost no flavor. I have three different tanks set up with the same juice, coils made of the same wire (SS430), same wicking material (JOC). The Aromamizer Supreme has great flavor, the Billow V2 has ok flavor, the Merlin almost tastes like I'm vaping unflavored juice. Something is wrong here.

PS I've tried positioning the coil higher, lower, and everywhere in between and nothing seems to help.

Cheers,
Steve
My merlin is the same, no leaks, lots of vapour, but no taste.

I know I mentioned this somewhere... I ordered an extra Merlin from efuntop a few weeks ago before all the issues with mine started happening. I ordered the SS one, it showed up today. The spare glass is the black version. :wait:

I'm just really bummed about all of it. I was so excited for this tank to come out from the beginning. Augvape really needs to up their game on the QC stuff. I can live with the black spare glass, but honestly, I don't even know if I wanna put this one together now.

I'm venting.... sorry. But really, don't think I'm gonna bother with this one.

That's interesting. I have a few AR V1s and vaped them for months before I got a couple of Merlins. At best, at around the same watts I can't get as much flavor from the ARs with dual coils as I can from the Merlins with a single coil. My single coils in the Merlins are quite different than the ARs with duals. I'm using 24 gauge Kanthal, 4mm, around 0.75 ohms at around 38 watts in the Merlins. The ARs are generally 27 gauge K, smaller ID, around 0.3 ohms combined between duals and they like around 41 watts.

OTOH, If I don't wick a Merlin or an AR right its flavor will go down at least for a while until everything settles down. But I never get almost no flavor from any of these.

Obviously, with Kanthal I'm not doing TC so what I set is what I'm vaping. If you're using TC you have that to consider too.

Not much help I know, but maybe you can get something from it :). Best of luck with it!

^^^^^^^^^^^ that, and it's on my mod, too. If I don't see it quickly, it runs down my mod. I take a tissue inside the 510 and that part is dry.

I used to do this, too. I close off the JFC, fill it, recap, turned it upside down.... leaks. So I was trying it without turning it upside down. It stayed dry for 2 fills then started up again.

Huckleberried, the next time you notice it leaking try tilting the mod horizontal so the atty is sideways with one air slot low. I'm curious if some juice will flow out of that air slot. Beware, it can be quite a bit.

It has. I've picked it up to vape it while reclined a bit and it poured out onto my shirt, LOL. I know exactly what you mean.

Try stuffing more wick into the cups. If you put too much in you'll start getting dry hits. Too little and I think you may get leaking into the base from the tank.
I've been taking my wicks all the way into the cups, so I'll just make them longer I guess? Then I can stuff them in there, LOL. Worth a shot, thanks!

Put the 3 x 1 mm o-ring into the hole in the 510 as far as it will go, place the two 2 x 1 o-rings on the exposed threads of the copper screw. It works for me.

Nice ! My silicone insulator fix had me worried that I'd burn it. I used your better idea, but added 1 o-ring inside the 510. Then inserted the insulator and tightened the pin very tight. No leaks and I feel better that it will hold up. Thanks.

I let my wicks lay ACROSS the juice wells, then long enough to go into the base area around the wells. If you are getting leaking out the air flow, it would seem that it is coming down the air vent under the coil, then into the AFC area. Dunno. Just a thought.

Yup, nothing to lose :)

I'm using a 4mm coil and rayon so I have a lot of wick to play with and have to thin the ends. If you're using cotton in a small diameter coil you could well be at the other end of the range.

Let us know what happens. At worst it will be one more thing eliminated.

Well, maybe that's the issue. I'm using a smaller diameter with Rayon. Maybe I should use a bigger coil. hmph.

I will be the first one to say my standards are probably too low....with that said...

All my rta's seep a little juice.... merlin..bachelor..charon...z4....kanger subtank...ect.

I use 2.5 mm single coils.

When I refill I wipe them off. Is this what is being discussed here?

I don't have any issues with a seeper now a leaker that would be an issue for me. But like I said my standards are probably lower than most

I wiped this off about 20 minutes ago. I took this pic after I read your post, to see if it had happened again. Usually I don't check it at 20 minutes. It sometimes runs down my mod if I don't catch it sooner. or the pool is bigger than this.

I do get condensation from another tank, but it's not the same color as my juice

Now my obs ace is much wetter. I still use this atty as I really like the vape it produces. I am sure one of these days juice will seep into the electronics and ruin my mod but the mod costs 30 bucks I can live with that. To date I have not killed a mod and I have been using this obs ace atty for about 4 months

Everyone has their own standards to what is or is not acceptable. I understand that and agree to it. Jimid and I go round and round about that (lol)

My seepage or leaking whatever you want to call it stays on the 510 plate does not leak to the outside of mod. I just wipe them out when I refill them. If (or when) it kills the electronics of my mod I will buy another one. Probably why I have 4 of my favorite mods (knight v1).

I could probably lower the seepage if I wanted to but what's more important to me is the end vape. I do use thinner juice 70 pg but that's what I prefer.

I have also noticed when using my sbs mods my atties seep more juice... I think its because they are caged in

I too have had leaky attys in the past that I just ignored because I loved everything else about it :)

That was a lot of juice though, lol

It was a little deceiving it was more of the picture. All the juice was on the bottom of atty none on the 510 plate of the mod

It was impressive!

I agree very much with what you said here btw.

It really makes me mad when people imply my vaping isn't "good enough" or I'm "vaping wrong" if I'm happy with it by my personal likes

Have you tried setting up your merlin per the pic's included with your merlin? I had never setup a rta that way before. It is my driest rta but remember all my rta's have a little bit of seepage..... so don't follow my instructions.....lol

And there does seem to be some qc issues with the merlin.... so no matter what you do its going to leak too much

I have zero leaks with both the SS or black - so not everyone has the issues with their particular Merlins.

I have 10 of them coming next week, 5 stainless, 5 black. So I will be on a Merlin marathon to see about leaking issues. I have no idea if I'm getting V1 or V2.

These 10 are a gift from my excellent husband who hates the government and fears what it would be like to be married to me without access to my favorite RTA :blech:

I am an oring junkie and happen to have a bag of each of these. Just set up one of mine that has been seeping. Will let you know if it works for me. Just filled the tank. Will vape it down and see what happens.
OK, it still seeped on me. Not as much as usual. I will check to make sure all the orings are sitting correctly and I think I will rewick it and try again. By the way, I am using 55pg/45vg juice with the blocker in place. Coil is 3mm 26ga. I have been stuffing a lot of cotton into it. May try with not so much.

Now you have to apologize to Augvape!!!!
For what?

No, my first base had 3 post holes and some weird line down the middle of one post that Roxy pointed out to Leon.. STS sent me a new one, asking for half of something, maybe shipping, after they had initially told me they would just send me one a few days later, since I included the pic, which Augvape saw anyway, by PM. 2 weeks later I had to keep reminding them, asking if they were sending it. I got the new one.

Both bases have given me this problem. I've tried heavier wicking, but not longer wicking, I'll try that one next. So, after a few weeks of hassles, I ended up with a completed Merlin that still leaks. Now, this new one shows up and I don't even know if I want to fool with it, or just trade it not knowing if it'll work as it should.

So, yeah, I didn't know that the newer Merlins come with the opposing color spare glass than you order. But, I don't think I owe Augvape an apology.

BELIEVE me, it's never been my intention to rag on Merlin. I was excited about this tank before we even saw pics of it. I love the flavor it gives me, but it's been so much more of a hassle to be able to enjoy the vaping experience from this tank. I think it's ok that I'm frustrated. No tank I have is flawless or perfect, I just want it to work better than it is, and I've been willing to try different methods.

I did it the way the pics showed it still seeped
I also tried wicks at least an inch long still seeped
I tried raising the coil still no go

I love the flavor and the air flow is great for me so all i want to do is stop the seep
