OK, maybe a dumb question, I'm new to this type of thing.
friends and family only
I don't see an option for this. Or is that automatically how it sends it as long as I don't check the box for goods and services?

I doubt you'll find any, will probably have to have pieces plated. And you'll need to find someone who does it correctly. Don't know if the increased resistance to oxidation will offset the cost. But if you do find a source I would be interested. There might be a slight increase in conductivity vs. the existing contacts also, especially if they are not clean/oxidized.
Oh for sure. Unless rhodium plating is added to the design specs, it's very rare that anyone would spend the money doing that unless they were trying to sell add-ons like many "high-end" modders do. ($50 for a plated screw? Nah...)

I've been looking into Rhodium for quite a while as I have a few mods that have rhodium pins/contacts. It does add quite a bit to the conductivity, but most importantly the corrosion resistance keeps the contact clean and smooth. 99% oxy-free copper would be ideal, but due to corrosion, and buildup from batteries arcing (the REO is notorious for this) that conductivity gets worse and worse, resulting in misfires. This happens in very short order, so plan on cleaning those at least every couple days. The mods that have rhodium plated contacts however require very little maintenance, and certainly no resurfacing.

I'm currently researching the best places to get custom plating done, and it looks like the best bet is local jewelry shops, unless someone knows of something better (I would love a good priced online shop with quick turnaround, lol). Because it's an electrochemical plating process, there are some very nasty chemicals involved, and high powered power supplies. Kits are like $1000, otherwise I'd do the plating myself. =) If I get some parts done, I'll be sure to let you guys know, and I will be doing a decent quantity of them (20 or so) to make it worth the trouble. I suppose you guys could get half of them if they are decent.

And DO NOT check the goods/services box, otherwise Dre would have to pay the fee!

To remove gap you'll see two dots under the 510 inserts. Get two small rods(like glasses screw drivers) to turn the insert counter clockwise to lower the Atty

The Google doc is officially closed. So all orders are final. Now we we wait..... From the day I pay we should have the mods in our hands in a week. I'm hoping Friday I can pay. If not then next week sometime.

Does this mod have a adjustable pin?

You can also place an o ring under to 510 pin to raise it for attys with very short 510's. Somebody linked to one of Todd's reviews which covers it, I think it was in one of the GB threads.

I didn't realize they were requiring payment in advance of the mods even being made ... no worries, I'll get this to you in short order. :)

I hear this mod has a reputation for being a hard hitter, but I'm not getting the flavor I'm used to or the same performance that I get off of my other mechs. I've got a .23 dual coil build (32g/24g claptons) in my Velocity clone. Everything is right, contacts are clean, airflow is aligned properly with the coils, not too much wick, etc.

I've tried tightening and loosening the contact, making sure the 510 is making good connection, and double checked that my battery is good. Should I try a smaller gauge round wire build? I was think maybe 28g parallels? Anyone have any other tips?

You could try polishing the contact area between the body and top cap. Don't remove any material, just want to get rid of any oxidation, visible or not. dre uses what he calls a "nail buffer", still unsure as to what that is :teehee:, I used Mothers Aluminum Mag Polish.

Every device is different, but if your other mechs are also made from Aluminum and it's an identical build, it should be similar, though the Velocity is not what I would consider a "flavor atty" anyway. Other things to keep in mind are that the positive contact (button) is not flat, making less contact with the top of the battery, which can sometimes reduce performance, as well as oxidation on the copper switch plate, and the material or surface area of the 510 connection.

It's all about learning to build to the device with mechs, and it's very hard to get identical results between mods. Claptons aren't good on mechs IMHO due to the ramp-up time from the increased surface area of the coils, so I'd reccomend something more simple like a dual parallel (28ga may be a little high, I'd go 6-8 wrap 26, should put you in that same .2 ohm range) or dual singles with 24ga. I'm personally running a Hobo v3 on mine, with a dual parallel 24ga 6 wrap, and it's pretty awesome, but make sure you're using good batteries.

I just did mine the other night with metal polish, and it made a little difference. Gotta make sure to get those threads in and on the battery cap as well.
