that looks wonderful. I cant see why some are saying you cant see the liquid levels. Seems sheer enough.
No its tough to see whether or not the juice flow is open. I'm swapping out for the clear once my SS Merlins get here. I don't think the black chimney helps.

It is hard to see the juice flow holes on the black. But I just had a thought. I wonder how the smoked glass would look on the stainless? Might be easier to see on that one. I may just try that, when both tanks are empty.
Exactly what I was thinking. Gonna try it when mine arrive.

I'm wrong! I just read somewhere else that the black color comes off the glass (someone put it in a UC and it started flaking off)!

Hopefully whatever tint they are using is on the outside, not in.

So, DTL or MTL? Which would this tank better suit?
For me, I'm happiest using a Crown or Bachelor with AFC and JFC wide open.

And, as self proclaimed 'King of Leaks', the leaking has me a little worried.
Sure looks good, but I've learned to look before I leap.

I love my Crowns and this tank has a little bit of a tighter draw when wide open. It has a piece to restrict air flow for the Mtlers but I haven't tried it because I really don't vape like that. I bought 4 Merlins and I just started building. If I can wick this thing with no leaks then anyone can. My only complaint is the glass on the black tank is too dark. I love the drip tip. Just a great all around easy to build on tank. IMO. Oh yeah the machining on this is top notch, some of the best I've seen so far.

Most of the people that have had leak issues (very few) have been able to resolve the problem quickly

You're welcome, and your spelling is just fine. I had no idea English might not be your first language

My first language was German. Spell check is a godsend for me!

Yup, and I think both of us are being kind here. I have the feeling he's not the brightest light in the night sky :giggle:
My boyfriend is half German and he grew up there (military brat). I'm also of German heritage (my Grandmother was half German half Lithuanian and left Germany after WWII. My Father was First Generation American)

A few months back I dreamt I fended off a shark attack while scuba diving with my vape
We. Need. Underwater. Vaping. That would be AWESOME!

I want to dive with sharks again. Sure they were only bonnet heads, but they WERE sharks. I love The Keys. (Florida Keys)

Got my 2 Merlin's and I am in love ! They are beautiful! Don't think I ever felt that way about an RTA or any other tank. Thank you so much @roxynoodle ! I'm just admiring their beauty for the day.

Just some factoid, @roxynoodle said the "8" was a lucky number in China. And it is! Because in Chinese "8" rhymes with great fortune & prosperity. What ingenious minds at Augvape putting it on an RTA for a logo! So your Merlin can be your lucky charm as well! Symbolizing great fortune & prosperity!
8 and 13 are my lucky numbers ^.~

Do you have a Sally's Beauty Supply near your home? You should be able to get it there, just be sure it's 100% rayon, NO cotton in it.
I go to Sally's all the time. (I change my hair whenever the whim hits me) but I've never looked for rayon. Why the fuck would Sally's have it?

It has more airflow than the Bachelor, but less than the Serpent. It's similar to the Crown with the RBA. I only vape DTL and this tank is perfect.

I know what you're saying. My first build on the Merlin leaked. I just removed the deck and repositioned the cotton to put a little bit more in the juice channels. Hasn't leaked a drop since, and I've rewicked it twice without any issue. It's so easy to wick. Literally only took about 5 minutes to get it down. MUCH easier than the Bachelor.

Definitely closer to MTL. You can DL on it, but its very tight and restricted if you like wide open airflow. Its cool to just change things up once in a while, but its not my every day vape. Would LOVE to be able to get a deck thats more wide open airflow wise. Any possibility of that Roxy?

.2 ohm notch on a Dos, about 80 watts, 90VG Diy, chain vaping wicking keeps up, flavor is fantastic, this juice never tasted so good, airflow wide open restrictor boxed. Have quite a number of other single coil atties, this thing has made 99% of them obsolete. another SS, and a black one on the way.

Cotton is fairly tight in the notch otherwise it under-saturates, tails thinned about 1/3, puffed & fluffed, fanned on the deck, anything going down the holes is consequential. No leaks/flooding, perfect vape

Suppose I'll toss this on a regulated box to see where it goes, but it really is nice on the Dos.

What's up with notch coils? I've never used them, are they all hype or equal to/better than, say a clapton?

I'm running dual Notches in my Boreas and I like it. I know a lot of people shit on them but I'm enjoying them. Super fast ramp up time and nice flavor. For someone like me that's new to building they make life real easy and provide a satisfying vape.

I could take or leave the Alleria.
You could leave the Alleria at my mail box, I'll be more than happy to give it a good home:D Of all three, I love the Alleria best! The Merlin is good but I still have to work with it while the Boreas.....I damn near ran off the road because of the fog in my car. I received the replacement Merlin from STS- a great place - but the little devil still spits back at me. Both the Merlin with the jammed JC and the new one (which is flawless) are in second string until I have the time to figure out the best built for me. Meanwhile I MTL on a Melo 3 mini with a 1.8 ohm coil and a Bachelor nano with a dragonskin coil at 1.3 ohms. I'm waiting for the accessories kit for Bachelor nano from FT and see if the air restriction screws will fit the Merlin. If they do, I will post it here for the few other people thad would like a even more restricted draw on the Merlin.

I'll trade you an Alleria for a Merlin.

Is the jammed JC were you have to rotate the top of the tank to adjust JC? The JC ring is so tight that it is basically unusable to adjust JC from there, just turning the top of the tank is how I adjust JC.

Please let us know if it is better to return our Merlins for a proper working one, I know a lot of others in this thread are having the same problem.

The Alleira seems to be between the Boreas and Merlin as far as airflow, I like it though. Have had all 3 tanks for too little time to pick a favorite, the Boreas is at the top for me though as I like an airier draw.

I was doing exactly what you are, rotate the top part of the tank, the problem was that after a couple of turns It started to reward me with a very slow leak. It is more like very substantial condensation around the AFC ring and the base. It is not that much of a problem but I didn't want to mess up the Treebox mod I had it on.

This problem is being addressed and is likely linked to an o-ring problem according to a little bird I know. There is no reason to return.

I think I'm starting to understand what folks are talking about in relation to the juice control. Once the tank is screwed on to the base adjusting the JC by turning the top and/or glass is the way. Other wise your screwing the tank off or on the base which appears to adjust (which it does but it will probably leak some). Then again maybe I still don't understand the complaint.

How many days did it take STS to send your replacement? They told me after they go through about 200 tanks weed out the bad ones & take inventory they will send me new ones.

They're close but I think the Boreas has a cloudy more airy vape. The Merlin has more flavor. I have proved that the Merlin is pretty much idiot proof. I wicked her fine the first time around. I've been vaping this Mango Lemonade for weeks and it has never tasted as good as it does in the Merlin.

I honestly can't believe your merlin gives a better flavor than the boreas. My boreas overloads with both flavor and vapor. And i know my merlin is built and wicked proper, 0 leaking and vapes nice . But the bachelor has a much better flavor than it does imo

I just got my Merlin setup and I'm loving it! I don't have many tanks but this is by far my favorite one now. My first attempt at wicking was a failure but the second one is holding tight. I always try to use the least amount of wick as possible so the first one leaked a little.

I using a 3mm 2x28g/38g N80 Clapton coil ~6 wraps @0.5ohm with the airflow wide open on a SMPL mech mod and it's killing it:cool: I usually vape MTL with a partial DL mixed in and this setup is great.

It's been a long time since I've used an atty with a single coil and with the ease of building and wicking this one... my life just got a bit easier:cheers:

I would rather this be a little tight than it be loose. If you turn the tank clockwise you will not loosen the tank from the base. My JC seems to be loosening up some. I can turn it by the ring now but I have to be careful not to loosen the tank when turning it counter clockwise.

I just communicated with Robert from STS. He is a stand up guy as @roxynoodle as stated. This loose jfc/AFC has been a nightmare for him. He's been up mostly since Thursday going through his inventory of over 200 tanks one by one to check which are good or bad and making a list. Sounds like Santa lol. He's going to try & snooze for 2 hours at the warehouse then ship out what he can from his good inventory. Augvape has not sent him any replacements until he can give them a full count.
As stated by our members: Robert from Subtanksupply is a trusted & responsible vendor.!

@ShowerHead, you should look after your leap too....see where you landed! To me, the Merlin is a tight-ish DL or a airy MTL. It is not a kayfun tight draw.

Usually it's a pile of stinkin' crap. So I prefer to keep my eyes closed after landing.
Hmm, this ones seems to be on the edge, some say MTL, some DTL. After the bad units are out of the chain, I guess I'll try one.
I only use single coil, so kinda limits me on what I buy. Good for the wallet I guess.
