Just received 2 of the 4 Merlins I ordered. These are black and beautiful. I dropped a Raymo2u coil in it and it's one of the best vapes I have ever had. Rocking some Mango Lemonade and it is a righteous vape. So far out of the Merlin, Boreas, and Alleria I have to say I like the Merlin best but the Boreas is a close 2nd. I could take or leave the Alleria.

You really think the merlin is better than the boreas? Aww man my merlin can't show up fast enough. I was gonna order another boreas but now I'll wait to get the merlin because if it's really better I'll just order another merlin. Or both..lol

I love them both, but they're totally different vapes. I use the Boreas for a very powerful vape, and the Merlins for something more gentle! Both are my favorite tanks to date :)

They're close but I think the Boreas has a cloudy more airy vape. The Merlin has more flavor. I have proved that the Merlin is pretty much idiot proof. I wicked her fine the first time around. I've been vaping this Mango Lemonade for weeks and it has never tasted as good as it does in the Merlin.

I have a similar view in ranking lol

I do like the Alleria though. Just not in my top 5 RTAs though

The Merlin is a tighter draw and now more expense when you see this deal at Eciggity , just ordered a black Boreas, can't help myself at that price:

The bottom ring is so tight it barely moves and I have to hold on to the top of the tank or else it moves as well. Pretty much when I turn the top of the tank the juice control turns with it as it is super tight.

I think I read about one of the assemblers using the wrong oring, I guess that's my problem then? It still works fine and I am not having any problems besides that. Would it be a good idea to get a replacement from eciggity or is there a fix for this?
Better too tight, then too loose, perhaps with use it'll loosen up. Mine are too loose, wobbly. Subtanksupply said they would replace once they get a count of the bad ones.

Well i used the Merlin for the first time today and love it,my first ever RTA. First two builds it leaked after about 15 minutes but i just used more cotton and been good for about three hours now.I like the drip tip but i wish i could find one smaller all my other ones do not fit.Anyone found a more MTL drip tip that fits good?

Too tight as in I can't turn it without a lot of force, it is just easier to turn the top of the tank which then turns the juice flow control. I am going to contact eciggity about this but will use the tank for the next couple of days to see if it is even a problem, works great so far but the draw is a little too tight for my vaping style/

That's the only way mine turn - I thought that was the design intent?

I thought so too until @JuicyLucy told me it wasn't. I might actually like it better this way unless it might cause problems in the future, the only downside is having to unscrew the tank from the bottom.

OK.. My first wick earlier this week was to little and leaked most of the tank. Wicking #2 today was to much and was dry hitting. Wick #3 just now is good so far. Ribbon wire with 3/32 dia. , 6 wrap @ about 1 ohm. 40 watts is nice, 45 watts is good if I don't chain vape, 50 watts is too hot. Think I'll up the dia. to 3mm next time and maybe put the coil a little higher. I will not be leaving it on the mod tonight. Cleaning the juice off my Fuchai 200TC was a pain. Dammit I need another mod.:)

Only thing I don't like is the little o-ring at the top. Wonder if I could run a little super glue into the bottom of the groove with a toothpick? Has to be some way of making that thing stay in place.

I owe you an explanation apology Mjag

I have been adjusting the juice channel by grasping the bottom ring - in reality that was turning the top but didn't realize that is what I was doing so I said it wrong.

When you said "Mine just continually spins on the top if I keep on turning as it turns the juice flow control, have to unscrew the tank from the bottom to take it off."

Mine easily unscrews from the top without having to grasp the bottom.

But! When I just tried it just now , it spun like you were talking about.

This had me baffled.

I fiddled with it and discovered that I can easily unscrew the atty from the mod from the top ring when the air vents are closed. If I unscrew it with the air vents open, it spins and I have to grab it from the bottom like you described.

You might want to see if that works for you.

I'm very sorry if it caused you problems - I try to never dispense advices or state something unless I feel I really know what I'm talking about.

No need to apologize and thank you so much for the detailed response @JuicyLucy , looks like mine is like everyone else's. I did try closing the air vent but mine still just spins from the top, not a big deal though.

Thanks again, I really appreciate your response.

I assume the answer is NO but I will ask anyways... (tried google first)

Any way to remove the smoke color from the glass on the black merlin?

I've been using the dt from a kf4 clone I'm not using - it fits perfectly.

About half the regular 510 DTs I have fit the Merlin, about half don't.

This is going to be completely off subject and random, but I like your name! Maximum Vapors used to sell a bottom feeder named the "Lucy Juicy" lol

just got the one I won .
now I can play to find out why I had intermittent leaking .everybody including me suspected wicking ..it was not !
even changed the lower o ring but after a while same thing !
just cleaned it and inspected and played with the bottom ...the juice control is extremely tight just short of having to use a pliers . grabbing the posts I was able to move it from stop to stop. I did not realize when I adjusted the jc before that I actualy loosened the tank a little doing that
just redone both of them taken care to tighten the tank to the base . had a problem when adjusting jc again ! so made a little index with an perma marker to confirm that the tank unscrews , it did . the tiny little sliver above the jc ring is hard to make stay in place . for now used a little strip of fine sandpaper to to grab it while opening and closing for filling.
I think that was my problem so far both tanks dry as powder . and maybe that's why some peps having leaking and others not

Keep us updated because I'd be crying my head off mine was leaking. Mine accidentally fell over in my pocketbook last night on my way home from work and not a drop - much to my relief

Welp, there is not going to be an end to this fucking mess, and the thread will be in the Mud Pit.

I am no longer going to be a participating member of this forum. If you have a problem that requires my assistance, PM me. I will check PMs at least once per day.

I really hope you reconsider this. I got to ask who wins if you do this; some piss poor excuse for a reviewer or all the new users who need your help in this thread?

That seems to be an issue with all black tanks..... You can't see shit , specially if the chimney is black....

Yeah, my only complaint about my black Merlin is the glass. When my 2 SS ones arrive from FT the first thing I'm doing is swapping out the clear glasss. You really can't see shit.

I don't very many after market tips (only one to be exact and it doesn't fit the Merlin, lol) to be able to point you in the right direction :(

I routinely rob dt from old stuff I don't use anymore - especially because there are very few of the honking dt that come with most attys these days that I really like. A good drip tip is essential though - just because a dt has the right draw doesn't mean it can still deliver the best flavor - it's so hit and miss - for me anyway.

Good luck - I feel your pain

With the silver chimney the black tank you can see the juice level and everything is cool..... But black chimney, it's simply too dark...... I experienced this first on my VCMT....

I also have to turn the tank to open the JFC.Way to hard other wise.
that's exactly what I mean .
the juice control is so tight that the tank will turn ( loosen ) to adjust the juice flow
which was fine on the aromamizer unscrew a little to align the airholes with the coils .
but this tank has less thread and o ring thickness . so it must be tight to the tank to seal reliably
and that's where all my leaking problems came from . and that's why it was also so intermittent . fine after filling and then again after playing with the jfc.
so what happens ..you turn the tank ..the least resistanc is the tank threads but it should be the juice control .
well , cant be to bright it took me a month of frustration
now I can say ...that's it ... absulutly no leaks powder dry since yesterday on both !!

Nice - this issue seems to be the biggest problem folks are encountering. Glad you got it going because its such an amazing MTL atty

No leaking on the Merlin last night. Tried a couple coils today and didn't like any but my .8 ribbon. Currently a .8 ribbon >3mm dia.> 6 wraps @ 1.25 ohm > 40 watts. Still not sure if I like the drip or not. It's a bit wider than I prefer. Time will tell.

I remember @roxynoodle saying a few pages back not to disassemble the base cos it had too many parts to it & will risk damaging it.
well roxy would know
but the knowlage how to do it will eventualy come out . I can see where it is a secret but I would bet any cloners will know that already !
if they want to clone a very reasonable priced original is another qwestion .
I for one will sacrifice one if nessesary and fix it . I will order a couple more ..just to good a tank to give up on .
