maybe I missed it, but I am seeing a whole SLEW of Kick-Ass DNA200 boxes hitting the market lately, and I was hoping to get some sound advice and experiences from users to better understand. Iordered on from Militia mods last week and am waiting patiently for my Box to be built. I have also learned (from all involed at Militia Mods) that if you "mess with the settings" i may inadvertaly void the warranty. That being said, lets see them, drop some user knowledge and lets have some fun discuusing this new standard in regulated mods!!

Just got a hana 200 production model in red today. Build quality is superb, some people complained that the buttons rotate, but i don't care.

You may want to find out more about the warranty as the majority of available settings for the DNA 200 aren't configurable on the device directly and requires you to make a lot of changes through Escribe via PC. The board by itself is very limited until you utilize the software to access it's features.

I'm considering pulling the trigger on a Militia mini. One of the smallest around with 1300mah batt. The white out has me curious, but it's pretty big. I don't think I want the VS. Decisions decisions.

Had the VaporShark last month, ended up returning it due to hardware issue seen on other devices AZ well. Was going to wait, but could not. My top pick is VS, but was very close to Militia mini or Lavabox. Lost Vape I think same size as Militia. Militia is either 1 or 2 on list. Just can't beat the VS size, will get extra lipo for $20 just in case.

Ya, that's how picky I am... I want small. I want short more than wide. The mini is shorter than both. The width doesn't bother me. I just think the screen on the bottom is silly.

The lava box is nice. Taller, and o lyrics standard 900 may cells. It's not like the 1300 in the mini is so awesome... But it gets it to reasonable territory. I don't really get why it's not standard.

I just hope the militia is well made. It's pricey, but I don't mind supporting a guy that does good work.

Right, on Militia Modz Facebook, looks great and everyone happy, he also seems very responsive. With VS, looking for second but either make my own or something on cheaper side. Was fine with 200+ for first, something to toss around will be ideal for me now. Retire the iJoy and VTC with the others.

Ive had a vsdna200 for a few weeks, and all I can say, is the board is kick ass, especially in tc mode.
The ability to dim the screen and change the duration before timeout is a kick ads battery saver, it let's me get 7hrs on a 900msh lipopack at 50-60w
I came close to popping on the militia mods or the big dog; because, of the battery size. But, I opted to preorder a whitecloud and go for the portability of the shark instead.
The board is what makes the mod though, and being able to go from tank to RDA with three clicks of the button is a wonderful luxury.
Congrats dude, you'll love it!!!

Autocorrect bit me, I meant 'the portability '
Ie, the small size, form factor, easy to carry.

Ya, the VS is the next best for me. So... trigger - pulled!

The Militia Mini is about the same volume, but a little shorter, a little wider. I like the centered 510. I thought hard about the CMT Whiteout... but it's pretty big. I'm sure soon Yihi will put out something similar. I know in time plenty of sizes and options will be available. But right now, it gives me what I want... SS in TC. And the size isn't going to be terrible. Battery life should be reasonable with 1300. I'll sell one of my D2s to a friend. I will still have a portable, and my fav. I'll probably just run the D2 in power. It's just a lot better than the nickel. Can't wait to try out the DNA 200.

I have a Opus 200 and have been enjoying it rather well. The Opus also has a smaller footprint. I was thinking about the Whiteout but I figure I might as well wait until they are in ppl's hands before jumping on the wait game.

Just got off the phone with Paul at Militia Mods. Had a couple questions. Nice guy. Can't wait to get it. Black mini. 2 weeks. I've never been much for early adopting, but I'm looking forward to trying the 200.

Ya, I wish. I ordered a SX mini yesterday. It will be here Monday. Tomorrow is 3 weeks for the MM. Another guy is still waiting and it's been 6. So maybe 3 more? That's what can happen with custom stuff. Can't wait to get the SX. That will help. I really can't wait for the MM. I know I'll be happy when it's in my hand.

Are you on their FB page? When did you order.

Has anyone heard anything about the Hotcig DNA200. I like the idea of the swappable battery. From my understanding, they are a clone company, but made a DNA 200 box. It's reasonably priced and I watched Mike Vapes review on it and he was raving about it. Another good option. I thought I wanted a VS, then saw the Lavabox and liked what they had to offer, then I saw the Hotcig and that seems to be a great value with charger included as long as it's durable and will hold up. I'm also thinking about waiting for the Tug box. Just too many decisions. I guess I could wait to see what else comes out. Gheesh...

Seen others have nothing but problems with Hotcig, I admit I liked the look and size, but shipping with old firmware that allows device to drain batteries when off. People are getting device with batteries drained into danger zone, also poor quality where wires not connected, Hcigar from ecig. Com for same price point better buy. The hcigar is ok, it works and feels good will be my beater. VS is best I have used to date.

That is just a firmware issue man.. You are making mountains out of molehills... Evolv is always updating the software and if you are getting a DNA200 hopefully one does update it appropriately. I myself cannot fathom getting a DNA200 and never touch Escribe shoot that is the main reason I got one

I have both the Hotcig DX200 and Hcigar VT200. I like them both but the Hotgig came with the batteries severely discharged. I'm going off memory Cell1 1.8V, Cell2 1.15V, Cell3 1.9V. I had to use Escribe recover charging. It works but I think the battery has been compromised. I'm going to open a ticket with Gearbest for all the good that's going to do.

I personally like the feel of the VT200 better, more rounded. The DX200 is a touch smaller (shorter) and has the rubberized coating ala VS. I do like the fact you can easily swap batteries on the Hotcig better. Oh yeah I tried the included so called balanced charger and it overcharged the pack to 4.22 on cell 1 and 3, 4.24 for cell 2. Not sure if it's the charger or the battery is bad but on Escribe they charged to 4.2V. The problem is when it needs charging, cell 2 is at least .2v lower than cells 1 and 3. That's what makes me think t the very least Cell 2 has been damaged from being discharged to a touch over 1v.

Cheers,
Steve

Man there is always going to be voltage variations.. I doubt very highly there is anything wrong with it.. If there was you would more than likely be dropping charge very quickly since the cells run in Series..

You may very well be correct, but having all cells delivered below 2V and one at 1.15V doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Lets be honest, if we had an 18650 that was 1.15V it would get tossed, at least it would on my end. All I really would like from Gearbest or Hotcig is a replacement battery. I'm going to give it a few more cycles to see how it goes before doing anything. Might just end up being fine, who knows.

PS The VT200 came with all cells in the 3.9V range.

Cheers,
Steve

Yeah there is a huge vaiance man in batteries in general It takes alot of freak them up to be honest ... If its dropping charge fast that would indicate that cells discharge rate is skewed lower and will ultimately wind up being charged as its discharging by the other 2 cells..
I mess with RC and have so many LIPO packs the only ones I have problems with is due to my own mes sups over discharging connecting them hahah straight to other batteries to get a boost haha you get my point..

Good luck. I've been dealing with them for over a month on the VTBox200 that came in with over discharged pack, reverse battery connector, 510 fell out due to being glued in place. They've said a couple times they'd send a battery replacement then change their mind the next communication. This was my first and last order from Gearbest, knew going in they didn't have the best reputation but figured I'd give them a chance.

The site is not taking orders at this time. They need to catch up and his shippment from the battery company has been backordered. He wont get them until oct. 20. Plus, paul has been really sick this last week (ungough to put him in the hospital.) so its gonna be a while until they are caught up. I am going on four weeks now waiting. It sucks, but I cant fault Militia. Its just how it goes. I say his quality is unmatched & is worth the wait!!

Militia Mods are taking orders again. I am still waiting on my box. Its been over two months now. I recomend Mad Modder instead. They, too, do custom work with custom engravings. 12-14 day wait. Its the exact same box as Militia Mods. Its about 10 dollars more. Wish I had ordered from them instead.

Out of all the boxes you mentioned, i would hold out for the Tuglyfe. I have a TugLyfe parallel mech and that mod is very well put together. It practically bomb proof!!. Their dna220 box is very sold as well. my suggetion is this.... Dont go cheap!! The dna 200 is a game changer. Cheaply built boxes will have to be replaced. Quality will last you a long time to com. Get one from somebody who stands behind their work as well...

I cancelled my order. Had nothing to do with wait time. Bottom line is as nice as he is, he isn't ready for prime time. They have a LOT to get sorted out before I'll place another order.

I wanted the mini. Mad Modders, regardless what is on their Web site doesn't make one. I might just get the big one for the battery, but I don't like the changes done to the box. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on a good custom DNA. The Whiteout is too big..
And who knows when Hobo will ever have anything to look at let alone buy. Sighhhh

I wouldn't do business with Militia Mods on a bet. A friend of mine just cancelled his order (and got his money back) after waiting 50 days for a mod that was suppose to be delivered within two weeks. He dealt with lie after lie and excuse after excuse and finally got fed up with those clowns.
There are way to many other DNA 200 mod makers that don't screw with their customers like that to choose from. Why bother with slow crappy service and liars? Mad Modders and Militia Mods are connected at the hip and both are staffed by buffoons and idiots. Chose your vendors carefully, folks. P.T. Barnum was right. "There IS a sucker born every minute".

I landed a Psyclone EVO shortly after that. Flippin awesome box and the CS is excellent. Right now demand is high and production is low. But he puts up a batch and you get one or you don't. 3 days later it's in the mail box. It's been my go to since the day I got it. No BS drama. What more can you ask for?

A box is a box right? DNA chip is DNA chip. If you want a DNA box, tons to choose from. But the EVO box.... it is very very well thought out and made. It's not just a hollowed out chunk of aluminum. Craftsmanship is great. Panels and other colors are already coming out. It really is very nice. I was concerned with it being thicker, but that is nothing. It's great in the hand and 25mm tanks are right at home on it. Mac is really doing a LOT of things right with this product and company.

Not currently looking for a dna200 but have been noticing the Psyclone. I have an Opus 200 and it is a solid device. The opus has a smaller batt than the Psyclone but the mod itself is pretty small. The Psyclone seems cool to me though for panel options.

STILL trying desperately to get my hands on some panels and buttons, everyone is super backed up at the moment. Hoping Mac sends some out soon!

I still use my Vapor Shark as my back up. The VS is very small and light. Really nice for what it is. And 900 mah is not bad at all. See as a single 18650 mod. Small. The VS will easily get me through half a day no problem.

I only say that because the VS is perfect for what it is. But there is not much difference in size between 900 mah and 1300-1400 mah batteries. IMO, no DNA should come with less. The difference in power isn't huge either. But my Evo can easily get me through a 10 work day. Nearly a full day if I run it to zero. So it is plenty useful and reasonable.

I will usually throw the Evo on a charger at some point for and hour or so and use my VS. It's not much of problem. With no charging, both would get me through the longest heavy use day I'll have with room to spare. I have zero issues with lipos.

The panels are all very nice, but I really love my plain Jane Evo the way it is. Not sure if I will get another one. Maybe.

VS is best lipo in my opinion because of 2 amp charging.

Screen on bottom is less of a issue than I thought. I bought a vt200 instead and got lucky and traded it for vs. The shark charges in half the time. Vt 200 was on charger ALOT.

If you are concerned about time spent on a charger the VT133 is a great option (2 x 18650), but is limited to 133 watts (I never need more than that, but you might). Another option is the Hotcig DX200 that can use either Lipos (900mah and 1300mah packs are available) or the 2 x 18650 battery module. The Reuleaux DNA200 uses 3 x 18650 and finally the Efusion Duo (2 x 18650 or Lipo) which I unfortunately don't have.

L to R Hcigar VT133, Hotcig DX200 (Both are using 2 x 18650)

love these mods I like using lipo's but 18650 are great for on the go. I still use my ipv 5 some times but i found myself using dna 200 alot more. The lava box 1300mah, efusion duo , vt 133 an my vt 200 have been great mods so far.

Just got a hana 200 production model in red today. Build quality is superb, some people complained that the buttons rotate, but i don't care.
I have the last production model of the Hcigar VT200 DNA 200 1300mAH mod and it's fantastic. It's the most solid feeling and ergonomic mod I've ever used but sturdy without too much weight to it. I'm convinced my model is 1300mAH or close enough that I don't constantly think about the life remaining. I just didn't know DNA mods were basically made specifically for TC users. I absolutely am only a VW mode user. Kanthal and Clapton coils are my thing. I just think I rather buy a coil, pop it in, and enjoy without much pre-vaping nonsense. I like Escribe and it's a great software, but I think the mod burns the coils I use in wattage mode more quickly than when I use them in 18650 VW mods. HCigar makes the 133 model. That's probably great too.I wouldn't get a Lipo AND 18650 powered mod ever. That's rediculous.
