Started working on the Celtic braiding technic tonight. I used 3 loops of 36g N80 which ended up being too flimsy to hold shape in the coil as I tempered it so no color shots. 2.4mm ID came out to 1.06 ohms. Will redo with 28g tomorrow I think. This type of braid seems to lay flatter and wider than vertebraids and braidiators so it might vape even better.

Maybe after I get this one down. Braids are good because I can build them in the condo when the baby is asleep. No drill required.
The tubed viking braids are interesting, i made one a long time ago but got put off as soon as the thing disintegrated after cutting the ends lol

So decided to try a type of a braid tonight. Felt like trying something other than wraps until I have time and peace to concentrate.
This is what I have come up worth so far. 5 strands or 32k folded over making 10 strands total. I have to figure out his many wraps and what diameter I'm going to go with yet.

nice braids guys. i still have to try some of those techniques. in my experience, twisted and braided builds seem to be very hot and spitty. how does that celtic coil vape @MR.G. ? it looks like it fires like a fuckin volcano (on a series box).
that radiator build got me thinking its time for another retro vape build day, so i hit the early pages of this thread for inspiration and saw @BUDKISS post his first ever claptons on page seven. youve come a long way dude i wonder if im going to find a young ray or chef back there struggling to become the masters they are today...
i didnt find anything to build though....anyone got a good retro build to revisit with a modern twist? anyone want to join me in a retro vape? im still a bit undecided, so im gonna try to warm up by making a framed multistrand alien while i think about it...

I think I saw that on the other side? It's a 4x 4 strand right (1 over 2, 3 over 4, 4 over 1, repeat)? Killer build. I was planning to do 4 strand next.Did you ever see this

So 5 loops equaling 10 strands total? Nicely done. It will be hot, but tasty.
5 24" wires folded over on themselves with one end connected to my swivels leaving the other end to make loops. I guess 5 sets of parallel wire.
I figured this side will be warm. My plan for it is to drop it into something and toys it onto my hohm wrecker g2 in xXx mode. Feed it the lightning but keep it cool. I'm not sure if I should throw this into and rda or an rta...

It can spit a lot if you drip onto the coil but if you drip down into the well instead its quite a bit calmer, in a 30mm atty its quite tame but in a 22mm its a little hot But i'm planning on doing a dual but with 5 sets of 3 wires instead of the 4 and maybe drop the gauge to 0.1 ...we shall see.
One of my fav braid's is the fishtail, it's quite a flat braid but the flavour is awesome..

I was building before I joined the forum, I think my first input on the thread was around the mid 30's if you look back there...My first build was a Dual Coil 28g 6 Wrap/2mm ID on the Hobo RDA, I was also rebuilding Atlantis heads. technically my first build was a rebuild on an atlantis coil too. almost all my first builds are in this thread in the last few months. i think my first clapton was 24/30, and it was the only single core clapton i ever made, until i started doing aliens. wire is always in short supply here so i usually try to do a new technique every time i get enough to build something. i have prolly made ten feet of fused, six pairs of staples, one (out of two tries) of framed staple, one pair of tsuka coils, that one stagger fused, 10 sets of aliens, and a single coil of alien framed staple. before that i tried all manner of twisted and basic builds, but still i bet you guys make more in a day than i have in my whole career so far.
its cool seeing everyones progress. this thread is a very cool archive of coil building in general to be honest. sometimes i go back and look at the early pages and it feels like the dark ages...then i see it was only a couple years ago lol.

I finally found an iOS app that does focus stacking, but is limited to stacking 3 photos. It works ok I guess, but a few images didn't align too well. Camera may have wiggled though. I'll keep playing with it. The "penny shot" is the only one that wasn't focus stacked.
(Damn random hair...)

I've been meaning to try a braid, how does it vape? Looks super pretty that's for sure.28g N80 3 line celtic/loop braid. 2.4mm ID, 0.22 ohms.
I finally found an iOS app that does focus stacking, but is limited to stacking 3 photos. It works ok I guess, but a few images didn't align too well. Camera may have wiggled though. I'll keep playing with it. The "penny shot" is the only one that wasn't focus stacked.

my go to build for series is 28/36 or 38 but since i got 40ss316l i decided to do 28ss/40ss 7 wraps came out to .28 fuckin rowdy as shit on series... next time ill add a wrap or two to simmer it down.
using the 40 was harder than expected since the shit wants to spring off while wrapping, so end result was spaced like that... still vapes nice though.

I use a 30g core all SS (2X30g/40g 316L SS) for my NC build, love that thing. .48Ω
I want to say 8 or 9, it's at home so I can't count right now. Wrapped around a 3.5mm rod I do remember.
I just recently threw my nc out of my car because the button got stuck. Not positive the batteries were venting but i wasnt gonna take the chance since the thing would not stop smoking (yes, smoking) and i was getting on the freeway. But i was running a .4 setup and that was an angry vape, cant imagine a .2
