Premixed base?

OK, I'm late to the party. I admire everyone who can create great liquid, mixing all the ingredients, but admittedly wouldn't be here if not for the approaching regs.

What about the idea of buying premixed base, such as 3 nic and 6 nic with 70/30 VG/PG? Can this be done economically? What about shelf life? Are there reputable vendors? What about getting flavors to add, how much, etc? Same vendor or different?

Can those of us who aren't chefs get by?

You're gonna need a pretty big freezer to store 3-6mg Base in any kind of decent quantity.
Being that most likely it's the NIC that's gonna be hit the hardest by regs, it's more economical to buy the 1 Liter bottles 100mg NIC in PG or VG.
You can buy the PG & VG in 1 gal sizes anytime without any worries.
Flavorings and brands are many and may take some time to find your favorites.
And lots of recipes and examples are found both here and elsewhere.
Takes a bit of trial and error at first when creating your own recipes but lots of help is available.
Not really hard, just seems intimidating at first.
If your gonna DIY, best to just jump in "whole hog" IMO.
Most use BCV & ECX for flavorings.

If you can follow a recipe you can DIY. You'll finds lots of help here and this sub forum is perfect place to start reading. As far as base is concerned I would start out with 100 mg nicotine base as it will last you longer plus some pg and vg. Then find some recipes in the recipe forum and buy the flavors to make those recipes. You will need a calculator, most are free. If you are on a windows system I use ejuice me up. Get it here: http://ejuice.breaktru.com/. I know there are android calculators out there, and since I don't use iOS or MacOS I'm not sure about those.

BTW I also prefer my NIC in PG base, mostly for easier handling, and it doesn't seem to settle out so bad in the freezer.
Using the lower 2-3% NIC myself, so it doesn't really impact the PG/VG ratio very much.

I cut the 1L,100mg down to 50mg and dispense into various smaller bottles, 250ml, 120ml, 60ml, etc., (and be sure to mix well).
All go back into the freezer except for 2x30ml drip tip Ldpe bottles that I keep out for mixing.

Thanks everyone for all the info. The other concern is that I travel extensively for work, and I really don't want my family or friends to check on the house, and wonder why there's an e-liquid lab in the freezer. Also, we have the occasional power outage in our area, old electrical infrastructure.

You could just lock your freezer up when you travel, (forgot most freezers don't have locks anymore).
It's not so much that thawing the NIC would hurt anything anyway.
The problem comes mostly with heat for extended periods of storage.
Even a cool basement might work for shorter term storage, in a locked storage cabinet.

I started DIY and bought one of their starter kits which had 2 bottles of 500ml, 70vg/30pg @ 3mg nicotine from Liquid Barn about a month ago. So within a month, I already went through the first bottle and started on the second one. I store them in a cardboard box in my closet so it's plenty dark in there and maybe a little warmer than room temperature. After a month, the contents of the second bottle has a very slight tint of brown but still vapes fine, still no taste or anything far as that goes.

I am thinking the next order I will get from Ecigexpress same 3mg with 100% vg and see how that works in my sub ohm and how that effects the recipes.

I'm using ecigexpress' 100% VG base @1.5mg nic, and liking it a lot. It has a slightly sweet flavor on its own.

If you can follow the directions to make a cake from a mix, you can make your own juice. The only thing you MIGHT need to keep in the freezer is the nic base, and if the power went out, it wouldn't hurt it at all. It doesn't "freeze" anyway, the freezer just keeps it cold. Your PG and VG you can buy in gallon jugs and they can be kept anywhere. The flavors should be kept away from heat and light, but they can be kept in a box or a cabinet. It's NOT hard, and there are tons and tons of recipes out there that are wonderfully delicious. Browse around and find a few that sound good to you and have good reviews. Not everyone's tastes are the same, but if everyone says one recipe tastes like toilet water, it's probably not going to be very good. Then once you've found a recipe or three you'd like to try, get the flavors to make those recipes and just do it. You'll be glad you did!
