I'm rocking an IPV D2, and I just got an uwell crown tank with stainless steel coils. I wicked the shit out these coils, and I'm still tasting a burnt hit, it's gross. Tried multiple coils, still same thing.

I usually vape my arctic tank, and it works fine, never had an issue. I'm worried that maybe I'm not in the right mode on my device? Maybe I have to switch something up on the IPV D2 when I switch from my arctic to my crown?

I'm kind of hardware challenged..

I use those all the time on my D2. My favorite are the 0.25 at around 60 watts in power mode.
What do you mean you 'wicked ' the coil - do you mean primed, like this?

I think these are faulty coils from an old stock.. The supplier WetWicks sent me some new coils. Super cool dudes.

I've found that the cotton is quite tight in those coils. I went through quite a few at an alarming rate initially.
I have to poke a hole in the cotton through the juice holes when I replace the coil, just before priming. It seems to let the cotton allow more juice in faster. I tend to use a safety pin, you don't want anything bigger, as you will end up flooding them out.
