Vegetable glycerin: soy or palm derived

Hello all,
I wanted to order more VG and PG from essential depot but now I'm stumped! I have a choice of soy derived or palm derived vegetable glycerin. I thought I better ask those of you with more DIY experience ( that's about 99.9% of the people here) what is you opinion. I ordered from them before but there was no mention of soy/palm derived. I guess, in this case at least, ignorance is bliss....and I'm a blissful DIYer

I've seen arguments for and against soy, mostly the possibility of the soy being GMO. If that is not an issue for you, I think the soy is cheaper. Your choice, your lungs.

The difference is $6, the soy derived being cheaper. Genetically modified soy beans? Never really considered that. I was mostly wondering in the properties/ flavors they might impart to the juice.

I've only used palm based so I cannot comment on the properties/flavor of soy. There was a previous discussion here not too long ago, but I don't remember the consensus on the flavor of soy.

Personally I prefer Palm or Coconut derived myself, just because at least I've got the choice now, to use something that's Non-GMO.

Just went over to Essential Depot and it says the soy based VG is Kosher which would imply that it is not GMO. ymmv etc...

I spent some time today, searching and reading on this subject. RTS Vapes is the only vendor I could find, even with Google searches, that specified "derived from coconuts" and at a reasonable price. (On sale right now). Bought a gallon for $19+ but shipping was $14+. You get had one way or the other

Far as I know all the commercially grown Soy is GMO, and the Kosher part is a tricky one at best.
If you follow the Hebrew food laws of the Torah it's hard to say as they didn't even have GMO food in the Old Testament times.
My interpretation would be Kosher does not necessarily mean it's non-GMO.

All kosher means it had some dude in a mini hat pray over it with the added cost being passed onto you the end user.

It means about fuck all as Halal and natural in labeling and safety.

Liquid Barn sells Palm Based VG........Real Flavors sells Palm Based VG.......I use Palm Based.....For me, it has a cleaner taste/a little sweeter, as well.......It is not as thick as the Soy Based VG that I have used in the past......Mixes well and due to it being a little thinner, it wicks well also....

Since it is of thinner consistency, there is no need to use distilled water (that some mixers use) in order to enhance wicking, which allows for more liberal use of VG for those who prefer Max VG juices

I just received my order of soy based vg from essential depot today and on the label it says non-GMO

Edit: I apologize I apparently ordered the palm based ones after thinking I was going to go with the soy based ones but went with the free shipping offer instead. My mistake.

Let us know how it tastes compared to the Palm VG
This is the e-mail I got from them today:
"Thanks for your inquiry! You previously purchased the Palm-derived VG.
The soy is a newer offering, but as I understand the Palm-derived is preferred in the E-liquid industry."

Actually, they did have GMO's.. It is just that we used to call it selective breeding. All GMO means is that there were test tubes and Labs, more involved with the processes than farmers and barns. So what we have to decide is, do we use the NON politically correct GMOs or only the ones activists like. As I am not sure if there is a genetically pure organism on this or any planet. At some point they all been modified via evolutional and forced genetic mutation.

GMO definition

The abbreviation for genetically modified organism. A GMO is an organism whose genome has been altered by the techniques of genetic engineering so that its DNA contains one or more genes not normally found there.

Note: A high percentage of food crops, such as corn and soybeans, are genetically modified.

Well the bugs won't eat the stuff, but we humans are supposed to be the more intelligent species, go figure.
Man made GMO's I suspect are far worse than any evolutionary processes, except for maybe the radiation and pollution and pesticides, and...

As I am not sure if there is a genetically pure organism on this or any planet.

But some may be more pure than others, well, as long as mankind hasn't mucked them up yet.

Think I'll stick with the Coconut & Palm derived, if only because they've been in the ground far longer than last years soybeans;).

My apologies ahead of time for the Necroing of this topic, but i wanted to add for any other who might find this topic, that there is in fact a good reason to steer away from Soy derived products.
