I'm about to make an order online and I could use some suggestions on what's worth buying for DIY and don't forget to mention the maker as well

In my limited experience, these flavors would be on my must have list:

Pineapple TFA
Watermelon TFA
Juicy Peach TFA
Strawberry Ripe TFA
Dragonfruit TFA

Started with almost entirely TFA flavors, but just got a delivery of FA and a few CAP. But haven't played with them enough yet to give a good recommendation. You could make some pretty good stuff with some combination of just those flavors listed. Probably even a good recipe with all of them together. Koolada is a pretty neat thing to have too.

Had I known then what I know now, I would have bought bigger bottles of each of these flavors listed on my first order.

I like the taste of "fennel" Just a few juice makers even try to mix it though.

When I first started DIY I just ordered a bunch of flavors - mainly TFA and caps. I ended up selling most of them a few months later once I discovered recipes I actually loved! You'll save money (and frustration) in the long run if you pick recipes you want to make and buy the flavors for those!

I agree with this. Would be a great way to start. However, there are several flavors I have bought and thought I'd really like, only to be (highly) disappointed. Kinda have to live and learn a bit. If anything, maybe get flavors for a couple recipes you are interested in, like AmandaD suggests, but get each flavor from 2 or 3 brands to compare/ mix and match.

Amanda is absolutely correct. Nobody knows exactly what you like. My all day vape may not be anything that you even find remotely appealing. Go through the recipe section, find a few recipes that you want to try and that have been reviewed favorably. Order those EXACT flavors, make sure that you are measuring correctly and experiment to see what it is that you like. Go through the DIY section and look at all of the tips, tricks, vendor links..etc While it's easier to start a thread saying "give me all of the answers"..it's not practical because everybody is different. Plus, you will learn and retain a lot more by doing your own research and actually gaining an understanding of what it is that you are doing. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

This list is if I lost all of my flavors and had to make another order to just replace the flavors I use the most. I do try and limit my selection to flavors that are diketone free but there are some which are known to have them but I use then in such small amounts that it does not worry me much, I will try to note those.

INW Shisha Strawberry
INW Pineapple
CAP Cake Batter (has diketones but I generally use 1% or less, usually 0.50% in my recipes to great effect)
FW Yellow Cake (just read that it contains Fructose, have yet to read about the dangers of fructose in vaping)
INW Two Apples (Just slightly edges out FA Fuji Apple but if I had to pick one then this one is it)
CAP Vanilla Custard V2 (Never tried the original version)
CAP Sweet Cream
CAP Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
INW Cocopilada
CAP Sweet Watermelon or Lorann Watermelon (This is a toss up for me, I would be happy with either one)
TFA Caramel (not the original or DX version, there new version with Triacetin)
TFA Dragonfruit
Lorann Banana Cream Colorless
FW Natural Butterscotch
FA Cookie
FA Marshmallow
CAP Graham Cracker V2
FW Whipped Cream
TFA Vanilla Swirl
TFA Bavarian Cream DX (I do have a small sample of the original version with Diketones and I personally don't smell a big difference)
FW Natural Orange
FA Fresh Cream
TFA Brown Sugar
One-on-One Sweetener (different than TFA or CAP sweeteners that are based on Sucralose, this contains no sucralose or Stevia but is best with fruits)
Ethyl Maltol 10% (most Mfg's it is the same, sometimes known as cotton candy)

The list above is just what I would need to keep myself happy vaping for awhile. The list below is flavors I really like but don't use as often and could be without for awhile and not suffer:

INW Peach (not a big peach fan but this one is delicious)
TFA Kiwi Double (goes with the above INW Peach for the Peachwi Cream recipe which is real tasty)
INW Raspberry (is great is small amounts to make strawberries pop more in cream or custard recipes)
CAP New York Cheesecake (has diketones but what you gonna do when it tastes this good)
CAP Lemon Meringue Pie V2
FA Nonna Cake (new flavor but I am really liking it so far)
On-on-One Sweet & Tart (if you like the candy then this is the one to get over the TFA version)
INW Peanuts (just like the peanuts you eat at a baseball game, salt and all)
TFA Apple Pie (only use it in one recipe but I happen to love that recipe)
FA Passionfruit
INW Pear
FA Meringue
INW Bubble Gum
Stevia (my second favorite sweetener)

I heard from a friend that INW Shisha Vanilla is excellent, I have there Vanilla Classic and wasn't impressed. I also hear that INW Lemon Cake is great as well, both of those will be ordered next month to try.

Everyone has different tastes but you definitely came to the right place, all these great people helped me out a lot when I first started 6 months ago. Good luck!

I wish I liked strawberry vapes, that sounds good. I love strawberry candy.

I have too many flavors that I really love, so I'll just list my most used: They have their own little compartment in my flavor stash.

FA Cookie
FA Vanilla Classic
FA Mandarin
TFA Cheesecake Graham
FA Coconut
TFA Cranberry

I go on kicks with flavors sometimes, so there are many that I really enjoy, but don't use as often.

I definitely agree with you on this one, and I definitely should have done this, buttttttt instead I ended up purchasing 50 or so flavours on my first purchase. You do get a whole lot of options though, which in itself is a little frustrating, so many recipes out there I end up making several a week.

For flavours I'd recommend, it really depends on your palate, some like fruity mixes, others like heavier custardy mixes.

- FA Fuji Apple
- TFA/TPA Peach Juicy
- TFA/TPA Strawberry ripe
- TFA/TPA Dragonfruit (great for bringing out fruitier flavours)
- TFA/TPA Koolada (get that cooling feel without the minty taste)
- TFA/TPA Bilberry

Mix these up for a great cool berry/fruity vape, one of my first mixes that I've kept as my adv :)

When I started DIY I did not like any flavors aside from Tobacco and selecting the flavors was the hardest part of ordering my DIY Starter Kit. I could not use any recipes to try and find the ingredients since I only liked one, Fruit By The Drop Tropical. So I order flavors thinking about what I like in fruits and deserts like sherbet. Now as I expand my tastes in e-Liquids the big picture just gets bigger.

I really couldn't get very serious about DIY until I got off my tobacco fixation. I did manage to create a Virginia vape that I liked a lot... and very shortly after that, stopped liking Virginia tobacco vapes at all! :D Now I only like tobacco flavors if it's mixed in with a lot of other, sweeter flavors. But mostly I like sweet, fruity flavors.

I am finding that DIY'ing is opening a whole new world to me liking flavored e-Liquids! I created a Strawberry Peachy Pineapple (MY Own Recipe) which I am still tweaking. It started as Strawberry Peach but needed something. Like when I could I taste and say it need something.

What is strange is how the old sayings More Is Less and Less is More is so valid with flavorings and DIY e-Liquids.

Sometimes. But I tend to use a lot of flavoring; I think my tastebuds are still more or less comatose.

I tweaked my Strawberry Peachy Pineapple but now I need to up all the rest of the flavors. So just a few drops more made less taste instead of giving it just a little more pop. Seeing that I started a little lower I am within manufacturer suggestions so not going to ruin a whole batch. I like to do my tweakingon half or less of a batch. I have even done it with only a 10 ML sample. That way still have more to work with.

Too much flavor can destroy the whole recipe so you have to do gradual adjustments. Just how I am approaching it and there is no factual data to confirm it. I have found since quitting smoking my taste buds and sense of smell has returned so my world is quite different then two years ago!

That's just one reason I like INW Shisha Strawberry so much; the flavor doesn't go haywire with increasing amounts, it just gets stronger. Yum! I use 15.7%.

Yes, one flavor. This is the recipe I use:

Inawera Shisha Strawberry 15.6%
TFA DX Bavarian Cream 5.7%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4.3%
CAP Sweet Cream 1.9%
TFA Sweetener 2.8%

It's been my ADV for nearly 16 months.

Yes, total about 30%.. but the shisha strawberry is over half of it. :)

Still I think your missing the meaning of what I was saying. Some flavors can cancel the other out completely or partially. That is why I asked is it a single flavor? Hard to cancel itself out.

I think I get what you're saying. a flavor like CAP Cake Batter can take over a mix and be all you taste. I have a mix with 5 flavors and only 1% cake batter, after a week it was well blended, 4 weeks later the cake batter is too prominent, can't taste the other 4 flavors. FA Fuji Apple is another flavor that if used too high it will dominate a mix, not letting you taste the other ingredients.

Yes,More is Less sometimes. I am trying to tweak a Strawberry Peachy Pineapple recipe and I added a few drops of Pineapple to a 10 ML bottle and it did not result in what I wanted. So more experimenting and tweaking needs to be done. I might try upping the Strawberry and see how that pans out.

Yeah, experimentation can be a pain, patience is one of the most important aspects to having fun with DIY. I have some mixes that are on version 6 already.....ohhhhhh the joy.....lol

Balancing different fruits together can be quite a challenge.
I've not had much luck with this as most turn out to be all muddled together.
Or turn into a completely different flavor all together.
Or 1 flavor always seems to dominate.
Easiest for me was Apple + Cinnamon, and I can actually taste them both.
Keep experimenting tho, you might just find the sweet spot.

I am so close to perfecting it I am trying to be careful not to screw it up! But that is what trial and error is. No Total screw ups to speak of so far but actually am trying something new right now, a Single flavor Honeydew which smells good but need it to rest before I can taste test it. Once I see what the single flavor tastes like I might try a small batch of something with it. Trying the single flavors allows you to sort of imagine the finished product. Like mixing two different flavors in the tank for test.
