Is vaping safe with kids around?

Hi! I just posted in another thread about my setup, but I have a question that doesn't seem appropriate in that thread. So is it safe to vape with kids around?

I have a juice that has a low nicotine content and I'm wondering if the exhaled vape is safe with kids around the house. Mainly, I'm worried that the exhaled vape still contains traces of nicotine that my son my inhale?

Also, do these vapors stick to furniture such as couches, beddings, etc?

no one can say with absolute certainty if "second hand vape" is dangerous. the studies I have seen, and no i dont have links, suggest the likelyhood of it being dangerous are extremely low. One study actually showed there were less nasties in exhaled vapor then the normal exhaled breath of a smoker.

I vape with my children in the room and car. they do not inhale the "second hand vape" I do not vape at children's events, except in a smoking area

High VG juice will fog up your car windows like crazy

I have two setups, one with low nic juice and one with 0 nic. I use the one with 0 around my daughter and the low nic one outside or in another room. I would love to know the real answer but to be honest it will be awhile before there is confirmation either way.

The vapour is safe, a kid getting hold of an unregulated sub Ohm mod and holding the button down is not.... most safety issues are associated with the devices and access to juice bottles, or especially if you mix your own juice the nic can be lethal if injested. If you are insane enough to have pure nicotine skin contact alone will kill. Keep your mods and juice secure!!!

...the vapour dissipates in seconds, unless you are blowing high nic juice into your kids' face all the time you are not risking them inhaling any significant amount of nicotine.

Secondary smoke issues with analogues aren't because of nicotine it is much more to do with tar, other toxins and combusted matter (the smoke). It also lingers for hours and sticks to everything.

Good input, makes a lot of sense!

Let me find some studies as there has been some scientific progress in this area.

More interesting to me though is how you find the 0 nic? Does it still satisfy? 20 a day ex smoker for 15yrs here...

I DIY the Ejuice so for 0 nic i just do not add nicotine to it. It satisfies but not the same as the nic setup. Its better then nothing and I am sketchy about exhaling nic around my daughter

I wouldn't subject the kids to my clouds and neither should any other vaper regardless of the size of the clouds. It should in that aspect be looked at as the same as smoking. I try to conscious about the people I vape around not only out of respect that they may not like it, but also because I don't want little Jimmy telling his mommy that he wants to be able to blow a cloud like that. Should be the mindset of every vaper.

I'm the illegitimate love-child of strategy and creativity. Now neither parent admits to having me.

I think it's better not, because we still aren't sure the the vape is 100% safe, especially vape with nicotine:)

Not trying to be difficult but who died and made you King of All Vapers? Who are you to tell people what they should and shouldn't do? Vaping in front of children or not is a personal decision that every parent makes on their own. I don't need you, the government, or fellow vapers telling me or anybody else what I SHOULD do. Just saying.

Would you smoke your cigarettes in your kids face? I'm not ordering you to do anything. But set a damn example and don't look like trash by blowing clouds into children's faces. "Just saying."

Nobody said anything about that. In fact if you read my post again you will see that I didn't take a position on either side of the argument. My point was you have no authority over anyone to tell them what they should or shouldn't do. Lol you're just like every other lame liberal. You want to tell everyone how to live their life and when they protest you cry but its for the children. Raise your kids the way you want and let others do the same.

First off... I'm not a liberal at all. I'm just conscious of other's emotions especially children.. of whom we should set an example for.. It doesn't set a good example throwing vapor all over the place while they're in the room. Ask anyone with a right mind, it's just not commonly accepted. It looks bad and you're setting an example for a small child that this is something to do. Then they pick it up and possibly before they're even allowed to. It's a ripple. Should I pull my vape out and use it during a sermon tomorrow at church? No.. because that's not commonly accepted and looks bad. Don't look bad.. be an example. I'm not telling anyone what to do. I'm telling you what's going to make you look like an asshole.

Again here is your op. Read it again. It's not yours, the government, or anyone else's business what parents decide to do in front of their kids. Your disdain for vaping in front of children is your opinion. Other opinions vary from person to person. That's the beauty of being an American.

You keep missing everything I'm posting and tell me to re-read your posts? It's an opinion based discussion. I gave mine and reasons as to why I have my side of opinion. But you're going after me for having that opinion. Which it's a majority opinion. Any normal person seeing a parent blow vapor in their toddlers face will look like a douche and for the person witnessing will relate that thought to every vaper they see. You can tell I'm not the only one that thinks this by almost everyone's previous post thinking as well that it's not ok.. but you single me out for whatever reason.. or were you too lazy to read those? Put your reading glasses on. I **PERSONALLY** don't vape around ANYONE that isn't a vaper or smoker indoors. Or I do what I can to avoid it unless they say they don't mind because you may not know this.. but plenty of people are allergic to Propolyne Glycol. Be respectful to all others around you is my thought. (Added emphasis just for you, bud)

And it's not a stretch using your argument, to allow parents to decide if kids should smoke, drink or refuse them modern medical assistance if their religion dictates they should.

There are laws covering this, and you are wrong. Being "free" doesn't give you the right to harm, or otherwise fuck someone else up. Even your own kid.

You decide for YOU. Unless there are laws telling you that you can't.

Your point of view and opinion is fine. To call someone a a douche because they Vape in front a kid is a little extreme especially since there have been zero studies that show second hand Vape is harmful. Again I don't give a shit either way what a parent decides to do with their kid. It's really none of my business. Ohh and Freemind disagrees with me? Now that's a shocker! Lmao.

Dude... I'm not going on anymore about this. I know there's no harm ever shown from second hand smoke even from cigarettes.. That's NOT THE POINT.. You look like a tool! Would you take your kids into the smokers section if you were somewhere for your fix? No I'm sure you would have them wait away from somewhere that there's tons of people smoking.. because it's not for kids. It's for adults so do it away from them. I would say only 10% of people would have a mindset like you and not care about what their kid is around or influences they're around. Rant done...

How do you look like a tool? By doing something healthier than vaping? Again, most parents don't need anyone to tell them how to raise their kids.

No.. from the way I see the kids growing up.. parents do need to care more and have someone tell them the way they're parenting is raising more a-holes.. And I've said it so many times.. It's not about what's healthier or what isn't. It's that it's not acceptable to use something that's intended for adults right next to children. I can't believe you can't see this.

Funny how a safety thread turns into a cultural one. I don't "blow clouds" into my daughter's face, but will have a short vape across the room. I only use quality regulated mods and safe handling of the devices and juice, and to be honest she is just happy that am not smoking (outside) anymore. Our questionable habits don't always rub off on our kids.

Exactly, no thinking adult is standing their child in front of them and unloading plumes of Vape in their face. It's just a ridiculous scenario.

I'm not trying to argue, and I'm also not trying to "out" myself and line of work. I do, however, deal with children and parents on a daily basis. Many of them. Many, many of them.

And this statement you made, I can attest, is absolutely 100% not true whatsoever.

People need to stop saying not to vape where you cant smoke. Stop letting media convince you its the same or worse than smoking. I see a lot of people roll over to all these ignorant ideas the government and media wants everyone to believe. Its not smoking, its vaping and theres a huge difference... its not even comparable, maybe only aesthetically.

Exactly right! The Op asked a question that many people answered. I have no problem with people giving their opinion about vaping in front of children. I do have a problem when people make statements like you should do this and if you don't then you're an asshole or a douche. That is no longer an opinion or an answer to the op, that is a judgement. My point is we have no right to judge people on how they choose to raise their kids as long as they are doing no real harm to that child. All the studies I have seen claim that there is no harmful effect of secondhand vape. I am so sick of people and governments telling me what I should do and hiding their controlling actions behind the safety of the children. It's total bullshit. I grew up in the 70's. We rode bikes without helmets, didn't use seatbelts, played tackle football with no equipment, drank water from the hose, rode in the front seats of cars, and inhaled secondhand smoke, and somehow we all survived. Time to stop all this PC nonsense.

I vape around my stepdaughter in an open room and I also will grab a vape while driving and blow it out the window, do I think it's harmful, no more harmful than the shit we breath when we cook, mow the lawn, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Most everyone I know calls me not sure.

Well Disco, according to some on this thread that would make you a bad example, a tool, a douche, and an asshole. Not my opinion just some people on this thread. I don't know when people in this country are going to realize that the least the government is involved in your life the better off you are.

It's ok, being in the field for 13 years as a cable guy walking in piss and shit infested homes, soooo strong my eyes burned. Dirty dander filled dogs running everywhere a cat pissing in the corner, roaches shitting up walls, grandma and billy bob smoking up a storm in the house, cobwebs filled with smoke tar in the corners, all while very young kids were running around oblivious of the environment they live in......I think a little bit of vape that once airborne pretty much dissipates to nothing will be ok 10 feet away from her.

If that's the worst my kid has to deal with I think she's gonna be just fine:)

Numerous studies have shown the dangers of second-hand tobacco smoke (perhaps I misinterpret what you wrote, but thought I'd point out that much).
Links :) It's almost all completely absorbed into the lungs on inhale.

Right, there are more nasty particulates already floating around compared to whats released with your exhale...You breathe in almost a half pound of dead skin tissue every year if you in your house more then 8 hours a day, how clean is your skin?? If you use Aerosol or perfumes/cleaners your making the air more dangerous than your vapor also, and PG is a Anti Microbial...

Last of my problems...They usually give me looks from other things I have on my belt, rather then where Im blowing vapor...Your are never going to make it so everyone is happy, so just care about how to make you be happy. A couple of words that fix most things you could worry about...Fuck'em/Fuck It

Bubble Wrapping everyone will just make it easier for the next new Bacteria to drop mankind like Mice and Mustard Gas. I think everyone should just worry about themselves...they've got enough of they're own issues to worry about anyone else.

Wouldn't trying to avoid blowing smoke or vapor into the personal space of those who don't smoke or vape fall under common courtesy?
