@CaFF do you cook like that every night? My dinner looked really UNphotogenic but it was nice

Yes. I make things all day.
That's not cooking however, that is 30sec in the microwave with some leftovers. I ALWAYS have leftovers. :D

I found his ramen recipe a few years ago, my family loves it so much that we make it at least twice a month!

Nice! I love Ramen. :)

I have an e-book that's an entire cookbook dedicated to the things you can do with instant ramen to make more than cheap college food. Now I just have to find it in the collection

@Hobby Kid , Here is a movie-watching snack I just made. All from stuff I had in the fridge and freezer. Took about 5 minutes. :)
The patties in gravy I get for like $3 for six of them: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Banquet-6-Salisbury-Steaks-Brown-Gravy-Entree-27-Oz/10794571

Faux Cheesesteak on a Shingle

  1. Took a lonely last half of Ciabatta bun, spread it with that green enchilada sauce.
  2. Cubed up one cooked "Salisbury Steak" patty, sprinkled with chile powder and garlic pepper salt.
  3. Diced up some onion and previously frozen Cremini mushrooms, added on the top.
  4. Sprinkled on some Mexican 4-cheese blend and sprinkled more Black Pepper on.
  5. Placed plate in a plastic bag and tented it, nuked for about 1min @ 70% power
  6. Done.

Yummy! :D

Wow. That is one hell of a lot of cooking for a bowl of Ramen, but I do understand why.

Ah..THAT David..I watch a lot of PBS and enjoy his show. :)

That's very cool. :)

If I lost 75 lbs., I'd be a corpse, quite literally.

Decided I wanted a semi-traditional breakfast today.
Even did the classic French fold on it for fun. Just because it's fun and easy. =)

I cooked it in a really big pan, so it had room to spread. It's so thin, it's like a crepe and cooks super-fast, thus keeping the veggies fresh and just somewhat steamed.

Spinach Omelet with Genoa Salami and Olives

Ingredients: 3 eggs, fresh spinach, thin sliced Genoa Salami, a Trinity variant of onion, garlic and Habanero chile, black & green olives and Queso Oaxaca cheese.

Also, a nice pat of Butter for the pan...that's why it has that wonderful color too.

Now, THAT is a breakfast!

Its been acting like fall here a lot lately, sorry @CaFF that you've had our heat and we've had your Pac NW weather. I have a quest for the perfect baked potato soup recipe, and having lost a filling and broken a tooth on Friday night its looking like I'll get to have an excuse to eat an entire pot of soup by myself, in under a week. Now to find the recipe and make it before I have surgery to yank the tooth.

There's an Egyptian guy at work. On occasion he brings in some fun and quite yummy food. Today he brought in Macaroni Bechamel. Forgive the bad pic..... just my phone, outside at a picnic table. It's not green food, lol.

Made a late-night snack: Cheeseburger.

Grilled up a couple of beef patties (pan fits two, may as well...so I can have one for later) in the C.I. grill pan, meat sprinkled with garlic-pepper salt on both sides first.

Heated up some Ciabatta buns with Colby Jack cheese, onions and pickle on one side, mayo/stone ground mustard on the other. Baby Spinach got piled on after the heating.

Patties got some diced onion and pickled Jalapeño after the flip and a bit of extra Sharp Cheddar cheese.

(sorry about the crappy pics, sleepy me used wrong settings)

I had toast for breakfast, and will likely have toast and soup for dinner. Unless I can think of something else I really don't have to invoke actual chewing for.

I understand that one.
ATM, I can really only chew on one side and carefully at that. Fortunately, my front teeth are in "OK" shape.

I've decided on an entire box of kraft mac & cheese. I can taste it, so its at least edible. And its warm, which makes the rest of my mouth happy.

Oh cos it's sooooo easy it's not even really like cooking haha!
Boil 2 chicken breasts, shred with two forks, dump in a bottle of bbq sauce, stir it up and suppah's ready!
(I do add some seasonings to the boiling water but it's probably just for show, I don't know if they even make a difference)

I finally got around to trimming the eye of round I got for making jerky.
Not one to waste anything, the trimmings got cooked down to became a nice broth. :)

Some water, Mirepoix, dash of red pepper flakes, dash of Worcestershire, garlic pepper salt, rosemary, basil and marjoram for flavor with S&P to taste.

Not pretty, but man it tastes/smell good.

When it was reduced by half, I turned it off and let it cool a bit.
Strained it, sorted out the good meaty bits and veggies and ready to go in the fridge.

Colby Jack cheese and the remaining patty from the other day slathered in Pastrami on a Sourdough bagel.

Fixed up some Pre-NASCAR nomz....

Deadly Bacon Dawgz with Cheeze!

Bimbo bread (no HFCS, etc), hot dog relish, thin sliced onion, colby-jack, pre-heated bacon hot dogs with a swipe of Dave's Insanity just because I can.

Stuck 'em in the toaster oven at 300F until slightly toasted and the cheese was all melty.

Mmmm, Dave's Insanity and Bacon Hotdogs.....

Yay for my mouth being much better. I finally managed real 'solid' food today. Taco bell was the only thing that was both soft and affordable, so happy I can chew again without screaming in pain!

Made an Asian-style hash browns this morning. :)

A couple of nuked and refrigerated potatoes, two breakfast sausage links with casing removed and cut up, a shaved/chopped carrot (used a veg peeler then chopped), chopped celery and onion, sliced Serrano chile, two chopped garlic cloves and some mushrooms I'd sliced, blanched and frozen previously.

Meat and Veggies stir-fried in the pan with some hot oil.
(meat first with the onions until cooked, then the rest)
Added some powdered ginger, Hosin sauce and Sambal Olek for a good flavor.

While that was going on, cubed up the potatoes and chopped the garlic. Sprinkled with garlic pepper salt and some dill.

Potatoes went in with the veggies and meat and got nicely browned. Added an egg just at the end and spatula scrambled it into the rest for a nice bit of extra goodness. =)

Ended up like this - not too shabby, eh? :D

Ate some, the rest went into a container for future brekky burrito nomz.

Remember that broth I'd saved from the meat trimmings?

Well, I used it today and made myself up a pot of lentils and rice with veggies and some smoked Alaskan salmon bits for fun and smokey flavor

And the menu for tonight's dining adventure....................................

http://www.ellendales.com/home/our-menus-2/

Torn between the Chicken and Waffles (kinda mandatory to try as I am dining in the south) or the Deep Fried Rabbit (Wabbit) with Hunter Sauce.

Thank God I will be back home tomorrow evening as I am getting fat on the road.

Off to a really great brunch buffet this afternoon at 1:45

http://www.the94thaero.com/Files/website_Sunday_Brunch.pdf

I can hardly wait as at the moment I am starving myself just to make sure I can make the $20 bill more than worth it!.
This thread makes me so hungry.
Can't beat a meal in the middle of a Sunday afternoon when food seems to taste it's nicest (possibly because someone else is cooking it).

...as in 'bunny rabbit'? Cos rabbit here or sometimes known as Welsh rarebit is really eggy bread

Talking about real rabbit here. Deep fried with a spicy mushroom sauce served with egg noodles and veggies (AKA Rabbit food)

I have had Welsh Rarebit before, not quite my thing as I am a carnivore by nature and inclination.

But I am leaning toward the Chicken and Waffles as it is a true southern United States delicacy.

And I can get rabbit anytime I want to at home if I like. Just wait on the back deck with a .22 caliber rifle and wait.

At that point it is only a matter of time:D

@UncleRJ That's funny. I can just see you sitting out back ready to shoot dinner. Can any kind of rabbit be eaten? I've never eaten it. My sister once made a rabbit pie at college but no one would eat it. It just sat there on the table till the end of the day. She wouldn't even try it. It's not really something you see on menus in the uk. I like to think though that I'd eat anything if it's deep fried and crispy.

Did you notice quite a lot of steak houses and Chinese restaurants in London when you were over? And Italian. In fact finding an 'English' restaurant is quite difficult here.

Interesting menu they have there.....some rather different combinations. :D

I do like the sound of this though:

Fried Chicken and Waffles

Tempura fried chicken breast pieces served with two bacon jalapeno waffles and Jack Daniels honey syrup.

Rabbit's not usually on the menu here stateside either. Some places when you ask for 'an easily digestible meat protein' they hand you the vegan menu and you find another option. Rabbit is easier for people, and animals to digest its why its sold in some areas as alternative to high end quail or duck based dog/cat food. I remember the first time I went in the grocery store by my last not-online job, and actually shopped and found "bunny" in the frozen meat section, next to the pheasant, quail, buffalo, elk and venison. It wasn't shocking to see the others just the rabbit, and its price was shockingly low. Said grocery store is on one of the few remaining Indian tribal lands and so the unusual assortment was normal, as the store got their meat from local hunters and specific farms that raise the elk/buffalo/venison out of season.

As far as type of rabbit that can be eaten, most dietary rabbit in the US is likely specifically bred Lop rabbits that are fattened up, to produce more meat and more fat, as rabbit is a very lean meat.

Yes I saw on a survival program a guy improvising traps and he said for the amount of work put in to make and catch a rabbit, the nutrition you get isn't a lot in comparison. Duck is my favourite meat I've eaten so far. I'd eat it every night if it wasn't for the 'heart attack' factor haha. Well..

We went to a restaurant on my friends birthday and had buffalo burgers. But I don't reckon they were. They were just extra thick and tasted like dry over cooked beef

I love buffalo, but it's bloody pricey nowadays. Which is lame because it's raised in the region.
It is a very lean meat but rich, so they probably over cooked it.

There is also "Beefalo" which is a cross between Cow and Bison.

http://westernbison.org/health/index.php

I once made meat pies with it...great stuff. :D
