All my.goods showed up today, minus the kenthal and cotton, GRRRRRR.
My Kanger Mega setup is on the far left. My batteries are currently sitting at 3.6v and 3.8v.
Should I even bother with a build using the stock wire and braided wick, or should I just wait for my cotton and 28/30 gage to show up?
Also, how do I lock the Nemesis? Screwing it all the way in would leave it constantly "on" no??o_O

DO IT! My first kayfun came with two pre wrapped silica wick coils. The one I used was 2.8 ohms, but it vaped well enough, and my kanthal came and all was well. Give it all a good clean and vape away! Nice setup btw.

Use the stock stuff untill other comes in. My first Kayfun had the worst looking coil prebuilt on it with silica wick. Surprisingly it was a decent vape. It blew away my mini protanks and Nautilus even with the crap stock build.

QFT. I was amazed, and then I built a 1.2 ohm micro, ooh, I'm excited for you man!

My first ever build, 1.82 ohm.
My batteries are only at 4.0v so I'm still waiting.
Any wicking suggestions?
Links appreciated, this braided wick looks very thin and tigjt. Where Would You recommend I set my airflow at?

Looks very neat. I personally prefer to bring the wrap 'over' rather than 'under' to the negative post, just to give myself that little extra clearance and assurance that it doesn't touch and short on the positive side.

I take the screw completely out of the air holes btw

That will work, back the airflow screw almost all the way out. If you have some organic cotton slam that in there, if not use the wick that came with it. Honestly if thats your your first kayfun you will be amazed with any thing in there, it's going to be so much better. I love cotton but the stock wick will be great too.

Look at kayfun build vids and pics. Ideally you want to have that coil kinda at a 45 degree angle, but I'd leave it if it's reading well. You want to fire it and make sure it's glowing evenly from inside to out with no hot spots that take longer to heat. Ideally you then tweez it tight after pulse firing it. Then check for hot spots and ohms again.

Wicking is easiest to just look at a vid or pic. For the silica I assume it came with just do the tuck method where you tuck each side like an s almost, thus the 45 degree angle ;). Again, look for tutorials, there's a kayfun build thread on this site, too.

Fuck it, triple post. I really can't stress enough to check ohms repeatedly including after assembly, and after filling. It might be paranoia by me, but I don't fire anything new on a mech without OCDing on the ohm checks.

Cool, thanks everyone for the great feedback, I'm gonna let these Sony 18650 batteries charge a little longer and then dry fire, squeeze the coil, then check my ohms and wick by this bitch. Can't wait.
VaporDNA and Vape Royalty crushed it, got everything in less than 4 days. Ordered the cotton and kenthal from amazon.

Ooh it's that last .1 volt that takes forever to finish charging on new batteries :D

Lot of people like to dry fire and pinch their coils with a weaker battery. Not to overthink the whole thing though. :)

Juice that beotch up and keep us posted.

EDIT: What tank have you been using?

Don't know what you paid on amazon, but Temco sells 100 ft. Spools of kanthal for 5.50 or so with free shipping. You probably got enough to last a lifetime, but if it's cheaper and you want a different gauge they're the place IMO.

Ok, got the build wicked and dry fired and crimped, looks a tad sloppy but seems to heat evenly.
After wicking and test firing it was producing vapor. ohm read about 2.0/2.1 so maybe to many wraps... I think I may have made my wick a bit to short...
And I'm getting some nasty tastes...I rinsed in piping hot water and cleaned with a cue tip. I guess I will re wick and post some pics, but I feel good considering I am an utter noob and am pretty much winging it. How many volts do you think this 18650 is firing at on the coil?

You won't be drawing too much current on a mech with a 2ohm coil. You need to get it down to 1ohm to get a decent draw / *for it to hit

So maybe less wraps? I did about 8 wraps to be on the safe side.
Also, these silica wicks are sitting pretty lose inside the coil and seem to be pretty stiff even after wetting with juice.

Also, I hit my Kanger Mega on the Nemesis and it seemed like I got less vapor than with my vision spinner battery. It also seemed to make me want to cough a bit more...
Not sure what to think, good progress for me today, I'll keep at it and feel I'll have better results with cotton.

It hits better on your spinner because it's a regulated device and can be set to run higher resistance coils. Your mech is unregulated and therefore reliant on the coil build itself to draw current/amps from the battery. It's probably hitting at around 3.8v. A low ohm will draw more amps and it'll heat up and vape. A high ohm coil setup doesn't have the power.

Idk what guage the wire is with your stock coil but it's usually 32 - 34awg. If you undo a few wraps it'll lower it. Or if you had a dripper you could dual coil. Adding a second coil would halve the ohms (providing both could are the same ohms)

I would take a 4" piece of wick and fold it in half. Wrap your wire directly around wick snug. Secure coil onto post. With your fingers hold wick leads so they are pointed straight up, now screw the base of your chimney down so wick is sticking out top of that chimney base. Get scissors and cut off the excess wick about 1/8" above the top of chimney base. Now take small screw driver and gently push the wick down the sides of the chimney base where its sitting on deck but not jammed in juice channels. Lube your wick up with juice. screw top of chimney on, put Kayfun together the rest of way, and fill.

Alright, Kenthal showed up and I did a 6 wrap micro coil on 30g with organic cotton.
Came out to about 1.39/1.4 ohms.
Plugged it into a fully charged (4.2v) 18650 and it's ripping like a beast.
I also cleaned everything with warm dish soap water then rinsed with piping hot water and rubbing alcohol.

So...Great vapor production, and pretty solid flavor. Slightly scratchy hit if that makes sense?
Juicing Adam Bomb Nectar.

Does this setup seem legit? Other than the scratchy hit its close to where I want to be.
I need a better drip tip and those magnets for the nemesis, the button is click for sure.

Nice, might notice some of your normal juices will taste a little different because of the better coil and wick. I had to lower the flavor of my diy juice cause it was so powerful in the Kayfuns,

Well done on setting up your stuff. Setup sounds legit to me. I need to go lower to get a decent hit on a mech so I guess kudos go to you. That scratchiness can be a lot of things. It can be that the nicotine is hitting harder now you're using a decent tank and build. The cotton wick can also improve after a while and can be rough to start with. Have you got a dripper yet? You'll be glad if you get one, with air control, it's the best vape you can get when you build right.

There are many types of kayfuns and many different companies making them. So for example a 3.1 will vary depending who makes it even if buying from the same vendor. Some are quite a tight draw. The best kayfun style I ever bought was the sandblasted 3.1 from fasttech because it's made by a different manufacture from their other 3.1s. The juice channels are very deep and the air draw when fully opened is the best I've experienced. Even better than the a Russian 91. Their sandblasted ones are the only ones I use now simply because of the airy draw it offers and I never get a dry hit and every other kayfun seems an effort to take a toot on in comparison.

Russian 91v2 is a definite improvement for me. And yes, the scratchiness is a lot better after about a half tank in. I think the 12mg Nicotine level is also mildly to blame. When this tank is empty I'm going to pick up some 6mg juices. Any recs? I love Pineapple mixes and some dessert flavors. Ruthless Mandingo was bomb when I had it. Also the Ruthless Orange Cream is an all day vape for me.
Not a big fan of this Adam Bomb Nectar, seems almost acidic with how fruity it is. I can't thank everyone enough for all the help, really nice to have some quick responses when you are first getting going and are anxious to build.
I will fight the urge to rebuild when I get new juice today as I think this is a solid build for a first timer and I know builds can last for weeks.

Well practice makes perfect. As for juice, you can get recommendations but really you have to just try. I know there's ppl who've vaped for over 5 years and they love tobacco flavour or ry4. I stopped vaping that stuff after a month if that. For many, their tastes change. So if you're new, maybe don't stock up too much yet

Congrats! I finally ordered a kayfun lite v2 clone I kept reading about. I came across a navy next build on YouTube that looked super easy. Think when everything I ordered gets here I am trying that one first. The orginal video is in German but there's another guy that does it in English. Sorry don't have the link right here, but sure it can't be too hard to find if you search Kayfun navy nest build

I saw that vid on the navy style. I did try it but tbh I try to use as little wick as is feasible for a kayfun deck.

So, I re wicked and ran into a couple problems. my deck had a short and made my battery/entire device uber hot uber quick...I quickly took the battery out and set it outside. Then I realized that my deck had slightly shifted and was touching, so problem solved.
Then I re wicked and only got good flavor the first few hits and then after a few I start getting "burnt" tasting hits. Did I not leave enough cotton, or am I possibly blocking the channels(seems unlikely)?

^^^I do this too^^^
It takes a few tries to get the kayfun wicked right..
It sounds like you got too much wick blocking the chanel or choking at the coil..
I learned to just lay the wicks gently in there, no need to stuff the entire deck.

Like I said early my solution to not getting dry hits on a kayfun is to buy one that has deeper juice channels. Failing that, occasionally block the air holes and do a couple of strong draws to get the juice up and inside there (too much and you'll flood it).

I'm pretty sure my problem is wicking. I think my cotton is a little to tight in the coil and just hair to short.
What I'd really like to know is can I find a way to work on my deck without losing my entire tank of juice?

Wrap your hand around the base first to cover the air holes - or you can fold a tissue a few times then wrap that around and hold it tight. Then carefully unscrew the top and have it held over your juice bottle ready to pour in. I'm guessing you don't have a bottle with wide opening so you'll have to be accurate. If your juice 'above' the top cap level you have to suffer losing some. What juice is it? Just curious.

It's a serious contender for favorite juice I have tried. Mango and Coconut, very clear and produces STRONG flavor and great vapor production. I'm about to fuck with my wick and get this beast going again. I was pretty frustrated when i ran into this problem last night because everything worked so damn well the night before. I was at a Seafood Boil with some friends for a birthday party and people couldn't get enough of this juice. And my russian preformed perfectly all night with multiple refills....

Yeah I know what it's like when you've got good juice and a good setup. I always take my vape to bed. Old habits die hard ;) and sometimes the vape is so nice I don't want to go to sleep lol. Had many a late night doing that!

Hey I'm good. Thanks for asking mate. Well we're GMT+0 but we're on BST at the mo which is an hour ahead. I don't know how to guage it with you all as your time zones are all different. Put it this way, when mod envy starts on a Saturday night at 10pm it's 3am here.

That puts you 5 hours ahead of me until the time changes late fall.
Considering some of the times you've posted, you must not sleep much!
Either that, or you have an entirely screwy schedule like I do.
