Howdy VU friends and family. Hope you all are doing as well as possible with the world going crazy. With all of the craziness gong on I haven't been online as much. Come join me. If you just want to unload so stress or just vent about all that's going on, do it here. Please try to keep the politics in other threads. Have fears about where we might be headed? Let's hear them.

How is everyone holding up?

Hey, Don. Good idea. Gypsy started a check in thread, so maybe we can use this thread to vent a bit? People could prolly use to let loose a bit about what’s going on.

We’re dealing with Deeming coming up in May, as well as corona. It’s like everything is falling apart now.

Missed you, bro. You must be off work now?

Oh yeah I'm out of work and looking for anything. Yeah, I'm still a bit worried about deeming, but with the virus I'm sure deeming is the last thing on most people's minds. I'm as prepped as I can be for a while.

I looked for another similar thread but didn't see one. Can you provide a link?

Was really bummed to hear about your lack-of-work situation - gotta be stressful AF

Both my daughters are also out of work and worried hard core

I worry because oldest is married to a nurse, and my youngest is severely immunocompromised and has very weak lungs - trying not to stress, but as a mom, it's almost impossible not to

Closed right in on our comunity. Several reported by health services in the town where I took my wife to hospital today, told unofficially but totally believe, its in our small town of just several thousand right now as we are just 70 kilometers away from there. We are now, my wife and I, self imposing isolation. Its here for sure.

Right now in NY. We are in an apocalypse. Im sure many are but we went on to take the title of "epicenter" within a few weeks. I work for a hospital so layoff isnt happening. My clinics aren closed but ill probably reassigned wherever they need help. My daughter manages a gym. Shes out of work...wifes dept was sent home(thank god) cause they were being assigned to the border but then a team of volunteer agents stepped in they got the job. Its a scary situation and i hope the best for all. This is serious...

No idea what's up at work, haven't been there for 5 days, so I guess I'll find out in about 5 hours. Couldn't sleep, woke up at 8. Stalking the mail man, hoping it's my regular guy. He's like clock work. Only thing vape related is a few silicone bottles.

Anyway... I sit here with a cup of coffee, TV is on, but not really paying attention. Phone and ipod are charging, for work, just realized I forgot to charge batteries... oops. Doing that now.

Thanks Huck! I've mainly been staying away from the computer ( I don't VU much on phone). Too much depressing news. School resumes for kiddos today after a two week spring break, but it's all online. Wife is still able to work at her office but I feel certain she'll be moved to work from home soon. About the only thing I look forward to is my daily trip to the grocery store to play the what can I find today sweepstakes.

There's going to be a lot of stressful times ahead for many. I have a deep fear that all life as we knew it in January 2020 is over and we will be experiencing a dramatic change.

We aren't quite at apocalypse, but can see we are headed there. IT won't be long before people are getting murdered over basic necessities. I absolutely hate this mentality but but while people were hoarding TP and sanitizer I bought ammo.

Isn't that the truth!? Kinda done the same, just not daily. Not crazy about going up there that much, but haven't had much choice. I've kept a bottle of sanitizer in my jacket pocket, I always have one in the door of my car, too. Simple tasks seems not so simple anymore.

I wish I was quarantined. I think between co-workers and drivers and haulers in and out touching things, I will probably come in contact with 2 or 3 hundred people today. I feel absolutely awful for the people out of work with no income coming in, but then again if you are dead from this thing, what good is the money?

Yep same here on the sanitizer. Will likely be going to gloves while out as well.

Welp, I am selling off a huge chunk of my collection to make up for the severe reduction in income. I'm an artisan broom maker and sometimes calligrapher and I rely on tourist traffic to our picturesque little town, but there ain't no tourist traffic, so... ugh! Being self-employed, there ain't no unemployment, either. Double ugh!! Other than that, there's plenty to keep me busy. Between the sheep, the goats, the chickens, the garden, selling off the collection, making brooms in the hope that normal will come back some day, and practicing different scripts with my pens and inks, I don't have much time to worry about the rest.

One good thing about all of this. I got to tell the wife she was grounded and got zero flack from it :)

Look for the little good things and spend time bonding with family during all of this. You will all emerge stronger for it.

Do you have a website for your brooms? I’d love to see them, and maybe one day buy one. Stay safe and careful.

Having a hard time getting motivated to get off my ass today

It's raining hard and gloomy outside - still plenty to do inside, but supremely uninspired to do any of it

Me too. My allergies attacked me last night and I woke up really miserable and muzzy. So all I did today was vape, post, vape some more, and read.

Stay well, Lucy. How’re your new chicks doing?

Definitely growing - started working on a small-scale chick tractor yesterday with an old walker as a base, lol

Too wet out there to work on it today though
We tried the chicken tractor routine. Got old... now we just keep 'em in a coop until we get home from work... when we worked... and then let them run free. Ah, the Joy's of living fairly rural...

In some ways, yes. Maybe even most ways. But, shopping at any store other than a Walmart means at least an hour drive, and we're paying nearly $100 a month for our landline/internet at a whopping 6Mb/s

That’s so expensive! Can you shop online at all? I’m not sure how the postal service is by you, though.

Still, you’re on your own farm and you’ve got food you’ve grown or raised. That’s an amazing thing to me, being able to have a trustworthy source of fresh food.

I’m getting farm food delivered through Local Harvest, but it’s expensive and the quality is up and down.

Yeah, we shop online a lot, but there's something to be said for hands on... and changing rooms...

Just watched our governors daily corona Virus update.
yes vape shops can remain open with drive thru or curbside delivery but no walk in customers and no congregating outside them. Same with tobacco shops.
He is also working to try and get independent contractors unemployment benefits.
he is also staying VERY non political about this. he as asked about the 14 day thing that Trump has been tweeting. He avoided any political play but said this thing would extend far beyond another 14 days.

I don't even know how fast mine is, but phone/internet recently topped $150 a month here, in my rural paradise. Add to that another $150 a month for satellite TV (and not even a really good channel lineup).

Speed seems ok mostly, I play streaming audio and video all the time and don't have problems as long as there isn't more than one more person in the house doing the same thing. I do notice once in a while that the activity of my neighbors seems to affect us, times like snow days and such, when you know everyone is at home.

The redeeming factor is that when I stand in my yard, front or back, I cannot see any structures that don't belong to us, even in the winter. So yeah, hubbs can take a leak in the yard and no one sees it. I can knock around in my nightgown if I want to. We're right in the middle of about 15 acres of trees. And the house and land are paid for, thank heavens.

We get groceries and some basic stuff locally but as far as "shopping?" It's all done online.

I dropped satellite years ago and went to just antenna. I realized we were only watching a few hours of TV a week.
At that time I only got 4 stations.
Now with digital I get 35 stations.
And still only watch about the same amount of TV. But for free :)

Speed also depend on how many people use the same Pipeline as you do. All has to do with the provider. The Backbone is the key to it.

The satellite TV would be off before bedtime tonight if it was up to me. Hubbs just won't have it. He's addicted to his programs.

Things get too bad, he might just have to get un-addicted pretty soon. YouTube TV at $40 a month sounds better all the time.

We're a little more packed in than that. We have neighbors on both sides... just 5 acres...

Our area is so hilly we get zip, nada, zilch with antenna. We stream everything. Only paying about $20 a month for Hulu and CBS and whatever Amazon Prime costs now days. There's a huge amount of free, legal streaming available, too. Tubi TV, Crackle, Pluto TV, Vudu, etc.

That kinda cuts down on browsing in the vape shop. The news has just been bad for us as vapers since the “vaping illness”.

I thought about getting that too. I’m paying for cable and internet, and I’m mostly using WiFi. I could prolly just cut out the television and get paid YT, but we’ve got a package where they throw WiFi in for free. But it’s also $150 a month for our package. :eek:uch:

I haven’t been to a vape shop in years, but I know a lot of non hobbyist vapers use them. Corona and the Regs are going to rock their worlds hard!
yep kind of a perfect storm thing to pretty much wipe them out.
Sad. Even though I do not use them and really never have. and have no need for any more regulated vape stuff at all.
