Dear Jimi

If you are serious about your health, I want to invite you to the Balanced Body Hormone Summit. It is a free online event on February 22. Space is limited, so sign up now.

If you struggle at all with inflammation, chronic fatigue, weight gain, infertility or serious illness, this is an event you DON’T want to miss. Click here to register.

It is hosted by my friend, Dr. Mark Stengler, and he has assembled a “world-class” panel of experts. In fact, I am included, and I just spent an hour with Mark being recorded for my contribution to the event. I spoke on the role of omega-3 fatty acids and other non-CBD approaches to impacting the endocannabinoid system. It is an area of hormonal health that I am especially excited about. And if you are taking CBD, please read this entire newsletter.

The human body is complex. In order to regulate function, the body has an intricate network of interrelated regulatory systems. One of the most critical within these systems is the endocannabinoid system (ECS). An important point to realize is that while the discovery was due to the cannabis plant, the ECS has little to do with cannabis, and more to do with compounds that our body makes from fats known as endocannabinoids (eCBs). Other factors in food and medicinal plants also impact the ECS.

While the current focus in the marketplace is on cannabidiol (CBD) to impact the ECS, in the future the focus may involve manipulating the intake of dietary fats and supplementation of fatty acids to produce even greater benefits. For example, the long chain omega-3 fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) found in many fish and fish oil supplements have been shown to increase brain and body levels of our natural endocannabinoids (eCBs) as well as sensitize and enhance endocannabinoid receptor binding.

In my opinion, foremost in the nutritional approach in enhancing the ECS is having a diet rich in the right type of fats. In particular monounsaturated fats found in nuts, seeds, and olive oil and the long chain omega-3 fatty acids DHA, EPA, and DPA from fish or fish oil supplements. Low levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet and in body tissues are quite common in North America and as high and 95% of American adults and 97% of Canadian adults consuming less than optimal level. This insufficiency is particularly harmful to the ECS. Omega-3 fatty acids increase brain and body levels of endocannabinoids as well as sensitize and enhance endocannabinoid receptor binding. They also get converted into compounds with direct binding to ECS receptors.

Just like CBD, omega-3 eCBs are being shown to produce beneficial effects in different models of disease states, especially those associated with pain and inflammation. The omega-3 eCBs are primarily ethanolamides. For example, the primary eCB for DHA is DHA-ethanolamide (DHA-EA). Interestingly, this compound is also referred to as synaptamide for its ability to promote the formation of new synapses, the space between two nerve cells where nerve transmission takes place. DHA-EA is 10 times more active in this action than DHA and likely produces enhancement of learning and memory functions much greater than DHA. At very low concentrations, DHA-EA promotes the regeneration of brain cells and improved nerve cell structure.

Why Everyone Taking CBD Should Take it Combined with Fish Oil

The biggest reason everyone taking CBD should take it with omega-3 fatty acids is how critical these fatty acids are to the functioning of the ECS and the fact that low levels of omega-3 fatty acids are common.

While taking CBD may exert some beneficial effects on the ECS and subsequent health benefits, if the levels of omega-3 fatty acids are not sufficient throughout the body and brain, CBD simply will not produce as optimal of benefit. Good responders to CBD are likely to have good levels of omega-3 fatty acids and lower levels of omega-3 fatty acids may explain why some people do not respond to CBD.

Practical Recommendations for Supplementing Fish Oils

Using a high-quality fish oil supplement is the perfect solution to people wanting the health benefits of fish oils without the mercury, PCB's, dioxins, and other contaminants often found in fish. To support the ECS, take a dosage of fish oil sufficient to provide a combined total of 600 to 1,200 mg of DHA+ EPA+DPA daily. I like the ratio of DHA 4: EPA 2: DPA 0.5. If the product does not contain DPA, I would choose another. If you have one of the 60 or more health conditions shown to benefit from fish oils, especially inflammatory, autoimmune, heart, or brain- related conditions then bump up the dosage to 2,000 to 3,000 mg DHA+ EPA+DPA daily.

The specific fish oil that I recommend is Aqua Biome. Not only is it the best fish oil on the planet, when you buy a bottle Enzymedica donates $1 directly to a reef restoration project. Go to www.aqua-biome.com for more information.

Anyway, please join me at the Balanced Body Hormone Summit.

In good health,

mail

Dear Jim,

50-70 million US adults have a sleep disorder, even MORE worldwide!

According to the National Institutes of Health, lack of restful sleep causes a long list of issues, including obesity, certain cancers, depression and anxiety, lack of focus and energy, higher accident rates, decreased sex drive and more!

Alongside nutrition and exercise, Harvard Medical School considers sleep to be the third pillar of good health.

Without good sleep, our bodies aren't getting the digest-repair-restore time needed to heal. And without enough restful sleep, our mental health tanks — the important emotional reserves we need to deal with the stressors of life get depleted, and compliance with any healing protocol can feel overwhelming or even impossible.

Ask yourself these important questions:

● Want to sleep after eating?
● Do you fall asleep while reading or watching TV?
● Experiencing decreased sex drive?
● Hit the snooze button every morning?
● Sometimes "crash" and sleep for hours?
● Rely on caffeine and sugar for energy?

If you answered YES to any of the above, you may be sleep deprived.

Fortunately, there are things you can do to end excessive daytime sleepiness, like...

In her work with women facing chronic health issues, your host, Misty Williams, has found that many are struggling with their sleep, and that their #1 desire is to regain their energy.

She has gathered some of the world's foremost health experts to help you recognize and understand your sleep needs, and what you can do right now to improve the quality of your sleep.

Join Misty for the Your Best Sleep Ever Summit March 16-22, and change the way you sleep.

To Better Health,

P.S. - When you register for Your Best Sleep Ever Summit, you'll also unlock early access to interviews, free guides and helpful eBooks about sleep health.

How to Love your Energy in 2020

When you compliment someone on their energy, or even notice someone else’s energy, what are you really saying?

You’re alluding to an intangible — a force, a feeling, a figurative quality.

You’re going to keep hearing that word — energy — all year in headlines, in articles, in documentaries, on podcasts.

That’s because everyone is trying to get at the same point.

Everything we do in life — from thinking your thoughts to wiggling your toes to the managing of your career — takes energy.

So everyone has the same question on their minds. How do we enhance our energy? How do we remove the restrictions to it in the cells of our bodies? How can we restore the energy that we spend all of our time — commuting to work, binging TV, getting drunk at happy hour — draining?

The thing is, there are as many answers to that eternal and persistent human quest as there are people to consider setting out on that path.

But for me, it comes down to this.

Jing, Qi, and Shen

In taoism, there are three main elements. The jing, the qi, and the shen.

Think about them like they’re three corners of yourself.

Jing is the essence of you, the you that you’re born with, the you that never changes deep down. The you that you can recognize is missing from your daily doings in the world.

Qi is your energy. It’s the vibe you live by, the drive that pushes you or crushes you, ever-changing and ever-flowing power of your moods and wants and impulses.

And the shen is your mind.

The shen is the crux. It’s the part of you that decides the direction of your qi and your jing.

It’s vital, because your qi follows your mind. And the essence of you is most alive

when your energy is flowing well.

So if you feel like you’re living in a world of chaos…

It’s because you are. The world is in a state of chaos because the energy of humanity is creating chaos from an unsettled collective mind. Our collective attention isn’t focused, isn’t moving toward a common goal. It’s lost in reruns, in policies that serve cash flow and not energy flow, in the blocked and misdirected qi of a distracted population.

Because most of us? We’re making our choices with tense shoulders, frightened thoughts, and an overall sense of helplessness.

Thousands of years of developing humanity hasn’t solved the problem of survival. Our bodies think we’re fighting and flighting all the time…

Instead of resting and digesting.

You Already Know the Answer

And the irony is, everyone knows how to fix it.

Everyone knows what good choices look like. Everyone knows that big dreams and big peace take sacrifice.

That goes for every person. Me too!

I’m writing a book. I’m making films. I’ve got babies.

And even though what I love to do most is meet people and connect with them, see the difference that the practices I practice can make, I have to make sacrifices to power my life forward.

Like right now… because I’m writing a book, that means I go to bed earlier. Then I get up earlier. I don’t have cocktails with friends if they come over. I don’t eat food that won’t support the vitality.

And you know these answers already. Most of the people who come to see me are there because they can’t make themselves do the things they know are right.

They really want to most of the time. The intention is present but the attention is wavering because there’s blocked energy. The hose isn’t connected. And without a steady source of power, you can’t fuel the change to your brain chemistry — your shen — that’s required to redirect your shen.

So How Do You Connect the Hose?

If you don’t, you’ll always be suffering in the now.

And because you’re suffering and dissatisfied and worried and stressed and nervous, your body reacts to stimulus like you’re in danger. You’re thinking and acting through your amygdala, the emotional impulse part of your brain, and not through your prefrontal cortex, the higher moral reasoning area of your brain.

There’s no reason for your brain to concern itself with the long game when you’re trapped in the amygdala mindset. It’s just trying to make it through the short term.

In order for your body to rest and digest, it needs to feel calm and serene about the status of the things in your life garden — your self-esteem, your career, your marriage, your kids, your passions, your hobbies, your physical capabilities.

That requires balance, and that requires energy flow.

That’s what my qigong practice does. Qigong promotes energy flow through the body through precise and specific movements in the body — coordination of the eyes, mind, body, and breath that link up the disconnected parts of you and make you whole.

I write about this all the time. It changed my life and I’ve watched it, stunned every time, change the lives of thousands of people I’ve worked the qigong practice with.

Suddenly there’s an energy overflow. Suddenly you’re unstuck. Suddenly you know which tools to use to clear the stagnant, stale air you’re recirculating every time you falter on a personal commitment and can’t get yourself started.

And from April 24th through the 26th, we have a chance to start at the beginning together.

I’ve taken out this amazing space at the Snowbird Mountain Ski Lodge. And for those three days, I’m teaching level one (which I’m forbidden from filming, by the way. The Grand Master requested that it never be taped before he died. This is a direct transmission kind of system.)

And maybe this isn’t your year to get yourself together. That’s alright!

But maybe it is. Maybe it’s that’s the weekend you’ll look back on next April 24th, and marvel at all the things you’ve done that you thought you never could.

Qiqong is the practice of lightness, of levity.

Gravity can feel awfully heavy… The weight of your decisions, your feelings, your trauma, your history, your limitations. But levity is stronger.

And you find levity by moving your energy.

Hi Jimi,

When most people hear “hormones” - they think PMS and mood swings.

But your hormones play a much larger, less understood role in your body. What many people don’t realize is that hormones aren’t just health enhancers—they run the show.

What do they do? Hormones are your body’s communication system.

They are the messengers that regulate virtually every function of your body from blood sugar, heart function, energy levels, fertility, calcium and potassium levels, digestion, stress, rest, organ function, red blood cell production, the list goes on.

Simply put, your body can’t work properly without balanced hormones.

So how does it happen that something SO crucial to your body’s health is so misunderstood? And what can you do to balance your hormones more naturally?

That’s why Dr. Mark Stengler is hosting a free, online event (you can watch from your living room) on Saturday, February 22.

It’s called the “Balanced Body Hormone Summit” and it will change your life!

Why?

Because hormone imbalance is causing millions of Americans to be needlessly sick.

You’ll learn the simple methods to drastically improve your health, fight disease and even save your own life.

>> Register HERE (it’s FREE!)

Dr. Mark interviewed Ty for this summit, and we think you’ll really enjoy it … and all the other valuable information you’re going to learn.

We look forward to seeing you there!

God Bless!

Have been doing OK my friend. Back has blown yet another disc I think.
Much reduced activity and Kratom seems to be holding it ok.

How have you been doing?
Sorry to hear about your back that will sure slow you down. Kratom works good for me too most of the time, glad to see you using that instead of pharma opiates, hot soaks in epsom salts help me quite a bit and even CBD can take the edge off.

I've been doing pretty good, I have had a cold on and off lately but nothing serious, thank you for asking my friend.

I would be using opiates but the addicts and knee jerk politicians have made them nearly impossible to get on a maintenance basis here in KY.
So I get by with Kratom.

Yeah they are cracking down everywhere and some people who really need them pay the price with their pain. They really don't give you much choice and they don't consider just how how much suffering is going on.
Nope they attack the drug and not the real problems of pill mill doctors the addicts and such..

oh well been off of them for 9 years I think since state laws cut me off.
did not have any withdrawal just more pain since I took them as needed for pain not for entertainment.
And I had taken them for 12 years or so.

Peoria is right across the river, fair sized town, and in it and including all the towns around it I haven't seen one addict here, I am sure there are some but but if it was as bad as they are saying then one would think they would see one every now and then.
