hey everyone - I've been trying to nail down a butterscotch

what is your favorite butterscotch? the creamy yummy kind - not a candy taste

I have Flavor west on hand, NF's organic & FA butterscotch

I think I mixed NF at 8% and it just wasnt right yet
I'm about to try Flavor west by itself - then a combo of NF & FW
might add a little drop or few of vanilla cream..

Any suggestions? company? % to us or combo of?

TIA!

LoveVanilla's right about that FW Butterscotch-diacetyl. I used to use it for the flavor of those yellow disc candies in the cellophane wrapper. It's definitely the flavor of candy.

FA's Butterscotch is like b'scotch syrup in flavor and sweetness. It's just too strong and sweet for me as a standalone flavor

I like 2% FA Butterscotch with 1% FA Brandy for Buttershots (butterscotch schnapps) flavor with the sweetness dialed back a little.

2% FA Butterscotch with 1-1.5% FA Fresh Cream, for creamier, less sweet flavor

2% FA Butterscotch, 1% Fresh Cream, 1% Vienna Cream for sweet, rich, smooth, b'scotch with a little hint of vanilla

1.5% FA Butterscotch, 1% Fresh Cream, 1% Vanilla Tahiti for smooth, mild, vanilla-butterscotch (or V.Bourbon for darker vanilla, a little less sweet)

FA Butterscotch with FA Caramel is like combining the ice cream toppings. I prefer a combination to either one alone. Any of the above could use a combo instead of plain b'scotch. It creates a slightly 'darker' flavor, adds some good complexity, and it's a little less sweet.

A little bit (1% or less) of Brandy or Rum in any of the above just makes it taste better. Think 'butter-rum'....yum!

That could be my missing combo for my Uncle Junks! Don't know why I haven't tried it yet.
I have been busy with work, vacation, and now work again but will surely try this my next free moment! Thanks HIC!

Thank you for the feedback everyone!

I will be trying a bunch of samples. I'm trying to stay away from FW & NF however a few of my recipes with multiple flavors have at least 1 FW or NF ingredient. been trying to substitute

I'm working on it as I type.

Just made up a white rabbit, Gummy Dragon, couple of menthols, French Vanilla & now going to make a few diff versions of Butterscotch

I'll post back to let you know what combos I tried.

oddly tho - I got vape tongue so bad when I first started cause I vaped butterscotch & caramel too much. I can no longer taste butterscotch. Well I haven't been able to. I go by smell - sometimes a little taste on my tongue of the flavor before I mix.

This flavor is a little off topic but this thread is the closest to what I'm shooting for... a butterscotch, caramel, custard, vanilla with vanilla being the weakest flavor, just looking for a hint of vanilla.

From what I've read FA is strong and you should mix to about 4% total. Is that a good percentage to use?

Question one is around 4% a good total flavoring target for FA flavors?

Question two is I have patchouli vanilla from NN already so I want to use that up but I think it should be mixed at a higher rate than FA (not as concentrated? ). So maybe at the same rate as the FA flavors to end up the weakest flavor?

Thanx, mixture below

this is what I'd shoot for if i knew what the patchouli vanilla was like:

2% butterscotch
1% caramel
1% custard
1.5% 2% p van

the reasoning behind this is.. you want the butterscotch and caramel to stand out..
adding them all up at 4% will be too strong, and it will make the butterscotch and caramel not the main taste..
the creams will over run it.

Makes sense, thanx.
I have a feeling I will be making a few runs at this to get it right so I don't want to make a large amount yet... any guess at number of drips per ml from FA bottles?

but maybe someone else can tell you.

Ok, maybe I will try by grams instead of drops for small runs. Scale only goes to .1 though...

Thanx again for the help!

FW butterscotch 12%
FW Irish cream 3%

The Irish cream, even though I can't taste it, makes the butterscotch pop. Also, you can omit the irish cream and use butter rum instead.

Another off topic question...
FA bottles, if i leave the dripper top off will the bottle still seal up with the cap? Seems like it will but I'd hate to ditch them and find out that I don't have a seal and have my flavors go bad in short time.
Turns out the 1ml syringe gives small enough graduations so no drip measurement needed.

Getting close with the flavor, on my 3rd combo of flavors but not there yet. Man you don't need much of that flavoring at all or it gets real sweet.

If it gets tipped sideways at all, the inside of the cap will fill up and make a mess when you open it.

Made a box to hold them in place but I guess if I have to shake them that would still be a problem. Do flavors need to be shaken before use?

Thanx for the help everyone, so far I have made vapable juice, just not what I am trying to accomplish but the first try wasn't too bad.

Yes! Some more than others, but it's just a good habit to get into. Citrus flavors in particular settle into layers pretty quickly.

Finding that I am looking for a more custard dominant flavor with a butterscotch note to it.
Picked up some Cappella custard for a more custardy custard than FA custard (v1&2 to try both, pretty sure the juice I am trying to copy has a ton of diacetyl in it anyway).

I guess I am going to start with 8% Cap custard since I haven't used their flavors and don't really know where to start. Seems like suggestions vary from 5% to 20%... I guess 20% would be stand alone. FA flavors 1.3% butterscotch & 0.7% Vienna Cream.

I was thinking a Butterscotch Custard as well @fq06. I'm going to give this a try this afternoon.

6% CAP Vanilla Custard V1
2% FA Butterscotch
1% Fresh Cream
1% Vienna Cream

I knew I should have put fresh cream in the cart on my last order! Lol.
Got fresh cream on the way among others. Going to try a couple variations when the cream comes in, one with a little Cap caramel too.
Mixed with what I had, smells good. Going to let it sit for a couple days at least and then give it a vape.

How did your mix work out?

I feel I'm getting close to what I want and am trying FW butterscotch (YOLO) instead of FA for more of a candy butterscotch flavor.

Anyone have a guess at percentages? If I used 2% FA would I use 8% FW to get about the same strength? Or 6% or 10% or...

Thanx everyone.

As long as you're "going there" - have you tried Nature's Flavors butterscotch? I understand their Creamy Caramel and Butterscotch are both awesome; they probably would be ideal combined. Nope, I haven't tried it.

I haven't tried that one, probably putting an order in today for a couple vanillas and will throw that butterscotch in the order too. Happy with Caps caramel.

Can't judge it yet, I think with everything going on it needs a few days if not a week+ for the flavors to come together but I did cheat and the FW butterscotch seems to be what I am looking for... a yellow candy butterscotch.

I did change to V2 Cap custard to offset the FW at least  Used 8% FW butterscotch and it was too much, 6% going into today's batch.

Making a batch for a friend to run through the rest of the nude nic so I can crack the VT nic open to try it out

Thanx for the suggestion.

sometimes caramel and butterscotch.. along with maple and molasses needs more than a month to settle..
i have one recipe, made it last year, dirty tank juice.. and well.. made some this summer, and forgot i stashed a bottle..
4 months later.. omg.. it's like a completely different texture.. light fluffy and well..

and i normally do not vape more than a month or 2 old juice.. :)

True, ordering juice online usually takes about a week to get, so that's probably around a week since it was mixed and deserts usually take another 2 - 3 weeks before they start tasting good.

It's so damn hard to wait to taste your own concoction though. You want to know if its good before you make more of that same recipe, or if it needs to be tweaked.

I tried a heat steep before (just hot water, nothing fancy) and it made the desert juice taste kind of crappy so i haven't bothered with that since.
Just date the bottle and tap my toes impatiently while I wait :D

Caramel cream from NF is what I use. friend who has been vaping for 2+ yrs has tried every caramel cream out there. This to her is a true creamy caramel. not candy chemical

NF has their flavors now listed as "without diacetyl"

Hey HIC, made all these butterscotch flavors minus the brandy one. Love the flavor of Vienna/fresh cream combo however the flavor is too weak for my tastes...how much would you recommend increasing it by? Thinking 2x but wondering if the butterscotch will still taste pleasant at that high percentage ?

You're the better judge of how strong will suit you, but I know you'd have plenty of company if you just doubled the percents I post. Overwhelming to me is just perfect for lots of people.
