Dead display on a relatively new vape.

Hello,

I started vaping two weeks ago to replace cigarettes and haven't picked up a cig since. :)
So you can safely assume I don't know anything and if you can, explain it to me like I'm five.

Problem is, my display just died yesterday mid drag. I brought it to the store, the dude assumed it was in "stealth mode" (though the manual doesn't say it has one, or even an options menu for that matter) and clicked it a bunch of stuff, removed and reinserted the same battery and it worked... Until I brought it home and it died again after two drags. Otherwise the vape works fine, there's just no display. It fires properly, I can still manage the power output I just don't know what it is. I haven't even burned through a single coil yet.

I kept fiddling with it, sometimes reinserting the battery would give me this: https://i.imgur.com/UUJEijS.mp4 -- which looks like some interruption in some connector inside. The unit itself isn't leaky externally, yet there was liquid in the battery slot and so I assume there's liquid in the circuitry of the mod (what you call the main box, right?). I've still been using it without the display on, can I kill it by being impatient to fix the issue?

I have the OBS Cube-X starter kit. Is this a bug or a defective unit? Can I fix this myself? Is it what I feared and I have to go out and buy some hex screwdrivers, disassemble it to see inside?

Cheers.

Sounds like it could be leaking through the 510 connection. Bring it back for a replacement and show the guy the liquid on the battery. If they won't replace it then try this.

Congrats on switching to vaping!

Typically attempting to fix would void most warranties, so I would go to the store you purchased it from and see if they have an warranty and will honor that. If that fails, I would reach out to the manufacturer.

I hate to say it, but that looks like it done for.

If the place you ordered from does not have a warranty, I would keep an eye out for places that do have a good internal warranty, if not extended warranties for purchase. They can be real life savers in cases like this.

I've noticed as well that it's two lines of liquid between the mod and the head (whatever you call it, where the coil screws in), there's nothing but just flat metal...

I'm gonna bring it to the shop tomorrow and post an update if they replace it or not.

It was never dropped or anything, always kept upright as it should be. There was a bit of liquid over the airways as well one day, but I just thought I got some liquid on my hands and didn't notice.I think there's a tiny bit of moisture under the ring that adjusts the airflow.

Congrats on making the switch!
When you take it back to the shop, you may want to consider seeing if the have another option for brand.
I would hate to see anyone have to get burned more than once by the same product.
Definitely sounds like a manufacturer defect.

If you see this tonite, take the battery and charge it . leave it out of the mod till morning. try it . If it comes on and works it may just be a digital glitch. if it does not come back on or fails again return it to the store.

I left it at the store, the dude couldn't do anything without his manager. They should call me by tomorrow evening.

With this being their policy I feel like they wont honor shit and will manage to blame me for it. Pretty much any smaller business is like that here, so it wouldn't be the first time. Anyway, I'll drop an update once they give me an answer.

Wishing you good luck~

! When I had a problem like this my vape shop needed to check with his supplier. 2 days later I got a full refund and bought a different setup.

I got the call and they replaced only the mod, everything else is the same. As f1r3b1rd said, looking for a different brand would've been better and I would've liked to, but oh well. At least I got the mod replaced and the display is working perfectly. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with the whole tank/head/whatever it's called and it ain't gonna leak.

Just to be cautious I'll be monitoring it and actively unscrewing it from the mod when I'm not using it for longer periods of time.

Thanks for your help guys. :)

Edit: I did have a cig, but I was really put off by the taste it left. 6 years of smoking ain't shit when you find an alternative you like. I was never able to quit cold turkey when I tried, never had the willpower to gradually lessen it either.

I don,t have the x but do have the OG Cube. It will be a great backup mod later on when you upgrade.
