People are ditching cigarettes for vaping for reasons other than their health

Good article.

There’s some new shit going down related to the Deeming with child proof juice bottles. People here should be aware, since it affects everyone. Think you could post something about it? Thanks!

Not new since I have not seen bottles that do not have them in years.

I heard that there was a stricter ban thing happening now. But it came from someone at ECF.
Yeah, a lot of bottles have that now, but I think ALL juice will be required to have them.

I think she's talking about this?:

https://regulatorwatch.com/brent_stafford/stop-sale-e-liquids-threatened-by-surprise-regulation/

looks like effective immediately all ejuice is supposed to have orifice reducers (kinda like the original Capella's 13ml bottles) and no glass bottles with droppers anymore either.

I believe that is why we have been seeing crazy juice sales lately....

Yep, really depressing. I hate to think of all these small companies possibly going out of business from this.

I wish someone in charge had their orifice reduced!

That is why dropper bottles are disappearing...and if you have tried to fill a tank lately with a new bottle it takes a lot of sqeezing.

I know. They could make them out of softer plastic! It comes out of the bottle like one drop at a time. Hope it’s not the wave of the future.

Wife pressured me into switching to vaping over health concerns for me.
I soon realized I could save a bunch of money over smoking and was sold.
Well that and feeling better and not stinking or having a stinky car :)
I vape around 120 ml/week and spend less than $20/month on vaping.

And you mentioned that you were vapocalypse ready, too. That’s cool. I’m hoping to spend that little on gear and juice too, eventually. It’s great to be prepared for whatever goes down. :)

Until last month, I hadn't made ANY vape related purchases in over 2 years (maybe 3) with the exception of flavorings and the random bottle of juice. I'm down to my last liter of nic now though so...

That is cool. I really want to get in the groove with not spending so much (and being self sufficient with juice and coils.) I try to get the best prices but like on the 4th with the sales, I bought stuff I didn’t need. But it’s only @4 months that I’m vaping now, so it’s still new to me. Even though we vaped in 2013 for a while but totally different now with sub ohm and tons of gear.

If this was a disaster movie, unprepared ppl would be coming to you (and the other building/mixing ppl) for juice and coils. Just without zombies! ;)

When the Deeming Regs were published, I always assumed that if the FDA didn't kill vaping, taxation would

So we’re screwed either way! Sigh. It’s making me realize I’ve got to learn to DIY and build. I’ve got about four 120mls unflavored but they’re not nic base, they’re juice. I figured I could learn basic DIY with some one shots but now I’ve gotta hold off buying for a while.

Feeling pressured like this sucks.

Taxation would only injure, not kill it. People still buy cigarettes despite the outrageous taxes on them.

Personally, I decided I'd never pay a dime in "sin tax" for vape stuff, and I haven't, despite the 40% wholesale tax in my home state of PA. I finished my preps a few months before that tax went into effect, so I haven't needed anything since then. The few things I've wanted, I've ordered while spending time down in FL.

This is why you get called a veteran! Hey, it’s early here.

Seriously, I hope it’s only taxes, at the worst. We had smokes almost double in price here with federal and city tax. Bans would be hard to live with.

Taxes may be the only thing that partially saves vaping.
I mean they will not ban cigs becuase of the taxes...

True, I never thought of that. So there’s always an upside, thank God. I just wonder how much vape gear prices will go up.

My prediction for vaping a few years down the road is.
Highly taxed sealed pod type systems with built in batteries and such to be only approved devices.

Actually look for them to go down with going out of business sales in the future if things continue as forecast.
As to prices on any approved devices?
I think they will fairly closely track the cost of smoking considering price + taxes.

Gah, I hate pods. I know everyone loves them and all, but I don’t need stealth. Govt approved pods, yet.

It’s almost $14 a pack here. It would be pretty damn expensive especially for juice. Cripes.

Invest in a few RTA/RDA, mix your juice; own a mech or 2; check out PWM..

Government can only screw with the HW - which you can build.

Vic, I only started vaping again a few months ago. It may take me a while to build and mix.
What’s up with mechs blowing up? Kinda making me avoid them, although they look great. Mechs are good for post-Deeming since it’s just a tube with a battery and a button?

Mech issues are user error. Usually using hybrid's where the battery contacts the positive connector of the atty coupled with not so good batteries and dumb practices.

People probably get bored with me posting Aussie prices, but:

I think they are increasing tax by 12.5% again in September.

Crikey. For how many cigarettes?

I love the quit smoking message to go with it. We’re thinking of you folks, that’s why they’re so expensive!!

So two positive things coming together makes it blow up?

That's a 25 pack

Our dollar is about 70 US cents though

So the AUD is less than the £. Wow, that’s really a bitch, as they say. They give you more ciggies per pack though. We get twenty.

I hope employment is steady in Oz now.

We can buy packs of 50. But I figured the 25s would show international better.

No

A positive and negative, with no resistance or too low resistance between them

Torn battery wraps can cause short circuits too

I quit while I’m ahead with this...Science was my worst subject, along with math. No mechs for me in the near future. I like life and vaping too much.

As DogMan stated. Or using an atty not designed for use with a hybrid mech where the positive of the battery contacts pos+neg shorts it out. Battery gets hot fast and vents. If the mech doesn't have proper venting, pressure builds and boom!

But $35 is over the top expensive. No wonder you’re vaping. It’s like a dollar a cigarette, i can’t believe it.

My guy Legion Vapes mentioned that. He was P.O.’d about vape shops selling advanced gear to newbs.

i smoked chop chop which obviously avoids tax

in 2013, border force had a few big successes intercepting illegal tobacco, and my supply dried up (i used to buy it from a store with a front as being a school uniform shop)

i tried commercial rollies, but i couldn't get used to the change, so figured i'd try vaping to at least cut down

BUT, when calculating savings, i use the $1 per cig figure

If you say girls school uniforms, it’s quite a mind picture! Lol
It’s like prohibition in Chicago there. Wow.

At least I hope you’re not scoring vape gear from some guy in a dark train station or something.

So vaping is a bargain in AU. Too f-ing much. Quit now. $35 a pack. It’s like the flick They Live!

And because there would be 30 million very angry people who would create a black market the likes of which hasn't been seen since the Volstead Act was the law of the land.

I do not think that vaping has as strong of an attraction to humans as does alcohol.
There would be some black market but nothing like with alcohol during prohibition.

One reason being not the massive profits as with bootlegging and illegal drugs.
That and the fact that vaping is not really addictive like those other things.

The context above was cigarettes, i.e. smokeable tobacco, not vaping. To see about the black market for that all you have to do is check really high tax jurisdictions like NYC or Australia. Cigarettes remain legal there, but already half or more of the market is "informal".

As for vaping, I'm not sure how I would react if I were cut off from it. I don't intend to find out either. ;)

Sorry, just woke up and reading news. ️ needed now! I was paying the cigarette tax in NYC. F*cking crazy.

I assume anti smoking goes along with anti vaping, my bad.

You ain’t kidding about being cut off from vaping. I cut out every other thing I liked to do.
