Hey fellas. I haven't posted in a while, been vaping on boring 22g naked coils. I got a oumier vls, and made a fralien for the first time in weeks. I was out of 36g so I did 40g interlock. Was very happy it came out alright since I'm out of practice. Wish the picture was better, but my clip lens won't fit on my new phone.
2x28g, 8x.3r, 2x40g interlock fralien.
Ss316l cores, ka1 fuse, 3mm id, .17ohms

Finally got the staggered framed staple coils correct today it took me three times to get it right. This one of two is 6 ply.4 ribbon between two staggered fused clapton. Have not put it in a rta yet, but I think it should ohm out about .27 with 6 raps. Does anyone know before I install them. Forgot to tell you that the frames where 26 gage and the wrap was 36 gage . All kanthal.

have a look through the steam engine thread. its got a quick write-up on how to use all the tools over on steam-engine.org, including how to input your wire specs to get a resistance calculation. theres some screenshots of different builds set up in steam engine a couple posts down as well, and a quick look at how to use the ohms law calculator below that. between wire wiz and the ohms law calculator, all the basics are covered. once you get them down, youll be in a great position to start building crazy stuff. have a look through this thread of tutorial links and other build related topics as well. theres threads for just about any build you want to learn, or any question you might have

6 wraps on a 3mm ID should get you around .3 per coil. And I'll even throw in a super easy quick start guide for the wire wizard.
*Coil Setup in the top left is self explanatory.
*Wire Builder -
At base line all you need to get resistance is the cores. Claptons and fusings don't contribute to the resistance in any tangible way. Set up as a parallel build. Input your alloys, wire type (round/ribbon) and gauges to the right. For ribbon stacks input the size as a stack: 6 pieces of .4 ribbon should read like .6x.4.
*Results -
For starters the 2 big numbers will be Resistance and Length for a single coil. For dual coil you'll divide the res. in 1/2 and double the length The length will tell you how long your stick should be prior to wrapping. This helps you not waste wire. Though, I always make about an inch or so more just in case.

How your coil would look -->

Untitled.jpg

That's all you need to get started. As you delve deeper to building there are other useful tools in there. But for now that will get you going.

My favorite coils to Vape aside of Alien Staggs. Sitting in the Golem RDA with a Trinity Zion Glass Cap. I thought I'd feature my favorite build in my favorite RDA with my favorite new Tube and of course my clamps also :D;)
5x28g/36g N90 5 Core Aliens (usually in SS or N90)

I would suggest getting the original glass cap or the crown cap, the Zion and the Comp caps have a TON of airflow and it hampers the flavor but the original and crown caps have a more conservative airflow opening. The crown cap looks cool btw, it makes your build all kaleidoscopy.

Look at how wide and open the airflow is here, its similar to rocking 1 and 1/3 holes open on the Golem cap:

I do however think you should check out the Copa Tips, they feel amazing on your lips and the flavor seems "cleaner" than with delrin or metal tips, it IS noticeable and they match pretty well with the RDA. The Magnum Tips are no where near as good, they dont seem to give the same flavor effect - they are almost the same as the stock goon tips.
Copa and then the Magnum Tips:

Yah I really don't like the look of the crown ... it's just to much for me. And Yah 1 1/3 golem hole is a fuk ton of air. 1 hole is to much for me on average. If I plan on using it for anything other than series I put the KTX cap on it. But damn that Zion is so damn perfect for it. I do, however, really like that copa tip. I may have to go shopping and have you sgive me feedback before I purchase ;)

Latest build for a Grab Bag Sale. 36g over 3x26g Nichrome 80 Alien 4.5 wraps. I'm posting this for my buddy @bx10r because of the background. See, bx10r likes shoes. The background is my newest addition. In 1989 a 13 year old Vaperoxx worked odd kid jobs to save up money. May 4th 1989, on their release date, young Vaperoxx gave old Joe here in town $115 for a black Nubuck pair of Air Jordan IVs. Thirty years later, Nike re-released them and a 43 year old Vaperoxx forked out $225 for an exact reissue of those black Nubuck Air Jordan IVs (branded as AJIV Bred) again on their release date. Most stylish, comfortable and durable shoes to ever reside on my feet. Happy 30th anniversary AJIV! No comments from the peanut gallery about my sexy legs either!

I am getting all kinds of help here. Hello guys I was not looking for the ohm values. That's almost to easy because the wraps on the wire does not change the resistance much at all. I was looking for the total area of the wrap. And that is where things change a lot depending on the style of the wraps.

Funny thing about coil builds to me is the pretty to look at coils usually are the ones that snap crackle and pop at you. I get the best hitting vape from something clapton like a framed staple. But I like to build. Today I have started my first pitchfork. Today my back screaming again so who knows how it will go. The staggering is intense on this one so straining my back to get a good look at the winds may take a day or three. That is if I don't blow a gasket before then. Take care all and vape friendly.

I love 5 Core Aliens 28g/36g SS or N90 with 4 Wraps/3mm ID and 3 Core 28g/40g 7 Wraps/3mm ID Aliens for Series and that's really about it. Everything else is for show and tell and the fun of building. It all comes in time and you can always do better, its a game of precision, once you get to where you believe is the top of the line of skill then you can expand into photography....which is a useful endeavor in itself.

The building community is great, everyone seems to be helpful, caring people who have similar habits and interests - many of us are like minded and humble and have a great sense of humor (Ill spare you of my own dickish style humor)....I havent found many communities within my hobbies that have the same type of mentality. BTW, Welcome to the forum. :vino:

That is mostly true ... All of the alien variations are bad spitters, anything where the fuse jumps off the cores. But, A) There are some people that enjoy that kind of vape, and B) There are some more intricate builds that are still a great vape and yet different than their counterparts. For example, a Framed staple an SSFC and a Staggerton have the exact same base and almost exactly the same amount of wire (just a tiiiiny less fuse) yet they all vape a little different. And in the case of the ssfc you can make all sorts of cool looking stuff that vapes really well

But in the end you are mostly right ... all the bells and whistles are for fun and show. That's why it's a hobby ;)

It seemed like you where asking for confirmation of the resistance. So we responded accordingly. :D

3 core 28/38 Ni90. First time runnin N90 and I must say I am really pleased with it!! The coils where hurriedly spun and quickly shot cause I was in a rush to get them on a little sumthin sumthin I picked up.

@raymo2u How in the name of the mother of all that is good do you take a picture of a polished finish and not just end up with nothing but reflections?!?!? I mean don't get me wrong ... at first glance it's really cool looking but A) once you realize your just looking into the inside of the box you can't unsee it and 2) I would like to get a more clear view of the beautiful black polish on it.

Edit: I'm going to leave it but I had to laugh at myself for using letters and numbers in a list like that

Angle the mod so the reflection is either an all white area or a black area, use a sheet of paper and curl it around most of the mod and shoot looking downwards at the mod with the mod leaning around 20 degrees ;)
There's a reason I started shooting shiny stuff outdoors, its just easier and it looks good. Shooting inside for shiny stuff isnt as easy.
