Eugh, think I went too far in the wrong direction... pulled a chunk of Flashwicks cotton exactly in half... (i think it started off a little thinner than a cotton bacon strip) and rewick and it was perfect. Juice coming through the middle when squonking, no dark line up the middle 3 days later when it usually shows within about 5mins, not even a darkening of juice! Was going so well until midday Sat I randomly just got a couple of hits JUST on the verge of burning out of nowhere, nothing changed at all. I turned it down a wee bit and took slightly shorter hits and it was fine. Just coming into work this morning and as I took that one last quick hit before going in it was a full on dry/burnt hit, my first on mesh... awww man, not nice at all! :(

Still looks perfect, theres no burnt or dark spots at all, must just be not quite enough cotton and it sagging slightly. So if cotton bacon is thicker than this then half a CB should be bang on.

My last line above is correct, Cotton Bacon is a bit thicker than Flashwicks so half of the CB was perfect! been a week now and no dry hits, sag or burnt hits at all. (that was CB Prime, not sure if the normal V2 is different)

But an extra wee tip for the RDA... i just pulled it apart to put a stronger spring in, Got one from a pen that was far too long but strong so used my wire clippers to cut it and got 3 'Profile size' springs out of the one big one. But the tip is when swapping it and unscrewing the ceramic block i noticed when I tighten the srew holding the block in the ceramic plate actually sits quite far down. However, the threading on that screw is wayyy more than is needed, so i unscrewed it 2 full turns which still holds everything in place no problem at all but the ceramic block actually sits a little higher. So that combined with the stronger spring should mean the cotton should (in theorey) never sag. Fingers crossed.

You and I are gonna get along friend. :)

I have been thinking this very thing with a stronger spring, but haven't gotten around to trying it. I LOVE highly effective and inexpensive ghetto solutions. Good stuff.

I have 5 Profiles and it is by far my favorite Squonk RDA using mesh like it is intended.

But that being said, I'm always experimenting.

I was gifted some notch coils, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but I decided to try one in the Profile and I am honestly impressed. The flavor is great and it wicks great.

But wait, there's more!

I always wondered what the Profile would be like as a dripper so I put one of the 22mm conversion caps on one and a solid 510 pin and it's an awesome dripper as well!

I put those wotofo mesh and re wicked my profile last night. Took almost 3/4 of of a cotton bacon, folded it double and then stuffed it under the mesh. Cut the cotton diagonally right alongside of mesh and boy o boy it has shown me what it is. the flavor that I’m getting is phenomenal. I was not able to put it down since then.
It is back in my first row of preferred rdas.

This thread has legs..........

My work profile recently began growing a cancerous tumor on the SS mesh after, I swear, 195 mls. I don't count mls, days, puffs, weeks....I don't care. But this one I know is correct.
Rayon with cotton tampon combo. Clear but sweet juice.

That looks nasty...

I just got some mesh spools delivered to try in it. Got the SS316L in 200 and some Ni80 in 100. When i am bored one day I am going to sit and cut it up into ready to use strips.

Anyone tried both, which one would you recommend?

I've only used the Vandy Vape 316L 200. I like it better than the Wotofo or even the ORF mesh. That's subjective of course.

The only thing I can think of is maybe a teardrop pool was gathering in that spot while squonking and it was cooked over time?

With all those mls who knows, just trashed it. Couldn't believe it made 100. Ran out of juice one day at work and just vaped blueberry funnel cake peachy rings until it changed over completely. Then it did this:

For whatever it's worth,
I seem to like the SS with certain flavor profiles like fruits and A1 nexmesh with stuff like cornbread puddin, bakery, etc. But my nexmesh builds have not been as successful as my SS in the long run.
The SS is thinner, more flexible, and seems to adjust to the wick shape, making it more forgiving. The rayon and cotton tampon worked well for this, not as good for the more rigid nexmesh. So I needed to change up a bit.

When I've tried cotton cut at the 45 degree angle on the top I get a much cooler less flavorful vape. I think cutting excess from the bottom and creating a wick "shoulder" that takes up space and reduces chamber size makes a big difference in performance. Don't think cotton would work as well this way so I stay with rayon. IMO rayon rules the roost here.

I used to clamp one side, cram in wick then clamp the other side, sometimes I would distort the nexmesh, even just a bit will jack it up.
So I doubled up the stock springs. Set mesh nice and even. Work a full rope plus about 1/2 of another through the mesh. Fluff the ends and cut about 50% at an angle toward clamp. I think some others have posted a similar build. Aware I have not reinvented the wheel or anything, just thought I would share.

So far best wicking for the nexmesh I've had at 15 mls in.

Well I just tried cutting a little stip of my Ni80 (100) mesh spool... wow! Its like going from the Wotofo up to the Nexmesh all over again but up another level! Loving this thing, have my own Apple Chewits in there and it literally like drinking the stuff, sooo much flavour.

I do think the Profile with mesh suits fruity flavour a lot more, seems to bring out and enchance fruits and menthols in a way no vape has ever done, drippers, tanks anything. I think its just because it remains quite cool, which is what you would expect when eating fruit or drinking juice etc. Whereas the cakes/custards etc suit being a little warmer.

As for wicking... I have done 3 builds that have been perfect since I started using half a strip of Cotton Bacon Prime. So from a full chunk in the packet... rip (the thickness) perfectly in half, then cut in half lengthways and you will get 4 bits perfect for the Profile. Just thin enough to let the juice come through the cotton when squonking but still thick enough to pad it out and always keep contact.

I also (as explained above) use the strong spring from a pen and unscrewed the ceramic clamp 1 ful turn so it sits a little higher.

I have an idea that will either be brilliant or an abysmal failure.

And the winner is?
The first shot at it was an abysmal failure. A lot to think through. More than I thought.

I don't want to sound so cryptic and secretive as if it's the most important thing in the world, but I want to make sure if I'm made complete fun of it can be done up right :)

My experiment w/ ss316l mesh today is a success ... A while back I tried 200 mesh, good flavor but I got alot of dry hits... today i tried 150 mesh and works great in wattage but TC is chasing the coil (ohms)...

I see that a lot with bakery/dessert type flavors, or flavors that are really sweet. That seems to be the gunk pattern the mesh gets. Cleans right up with a q-tip dipped in vodka and a couple short low wattage dry burns.

Yeah, I think I will be listing for sale every RTA & RDA I have that isn't a Profile. I have the RTA as well. They're so damn easy to build, fantastic flavor.

The reload is worth keeping if you have it or worth getting if you don't. I am really loving this Unity RTA. I am going to list my goon 1.5 and my Drop dead rda for sale tonight. I think I'm going to throw up a steam crave aromamizer v2 as well. I am moving towards all RTA and just profile RDA I think, though I will keep my recurve RDA on my Therion BF because I like it a lot.

I'll be keeping the Reload X & S. Everything else will be up. Axial, Aromamizer Supreme 2.1, all of it. lol

Is that rayon? Looks like it. If so try thinning the bottom and leaving the too long. It forms a shoulder and takes up space in the top of the chamber. Flavor is better and vape is warmer. I fluff my ends and angle cut 1/2 off the bottom. Give a go, might like it.

It is rayon, 3 strips stacked, and I trim the top two to right up against the mesh and leave the bottom long. What you describe is my build but flipped. I'll give that a go on my other Profile

That's the mesh I use. Works a treat!

I am thinking about trying some of the 200/300/400 mesh, slightly higher resistance, my thinking would be better battery life?

My experience with the 200 mesh was very unstable TC and dry hits when in wattage mode.

How the hell do you get 3 pieces of Rayon in there? I used to use 1 with a chunk of cotton on the bottom. Then I doubled the springs and use 1 1/2 rayon.

I don't understand why these notch coils have not caught on. Dropped one in an Intake and the flavor increased twofold. Next up the rebirth. Great idea @gadget! .
