i was watching the news yesterday, Fox I believe, out of Chicago. They were hyping this vaping story coming up so that peaked my interest. It was a 17 year old and his mother talking about the teen’s vaping addiction. His mom talks about how she noticed changes in her son and he became withdrawn, and grades slipped. In a move of despair she sent him to rehab for 32 days to help him. He’s says there he came clean and admitted to vaping nicotine for the last two years that started when fellow high schoolers peer pressured him in not tryin it. After that he was hooked, it was all he could think about, everything around him fell by the wayside. Friends, family, academics, all became secondary to his terrible nicotine addiction. He ended the interview saying if he didn’t get sent to rehab he’d “likely be dead or in jail,” or sucking dick. I added that last one but I was flabbergasted that this nonsense was on the news. Are you fucking kidding me??!!!?? Dead or in jail????!!!!!! WTF is going on here, millions of teens just like him smoke and drink and even such a benign thing as vape without having such life threatening consequences. They looked so ridiculous reporting this nonsense. It reminds me of the classic film Half Baked where Dave Chappelle’s character goes to rehab and everyone is testifying their addictions like ***** and ******. They get to Dave and he’s says he’s addicted to ***. The crowd goes crazy saying you can’t get addicted to *** and the famous quote “I sucked dick for cr*ck, have you ever sucked dick for *** man!!”. He basically gets kicked out after that but this story is just like that. This kid either was doing other things and addicted but blaming vaping or the whole family is just drama queens. Only other possibility is they are hired actors paid by Big Pharma @ Big Tobacco to go on the news, but my tin foil hat is in the wash so I don’t want to think about these things without protection from the government reading my thoughts.

Wonder if this is the same family of clowns that was featured in a NYT hit piece about a month ago

They sent their son to rehab (insurance paid for it  ) after their teenager got "hooked" on Juuls - they made all those claims - and also said their son was pawning shit and selling his stuff to support his $150 a week Juul pod jones

Was so hokey and dumb and I wanted to laugh, if it wasn't such a serious issue

It looked to me like everyone was so eager to blame vaping they overlooked the boy's serious drug addiction to something else

I didn’t hear anything about pawning stuff but everything else seems similar. It was so pitiful when they were wrapping up they zoom in on his face and I swear he was trying to work up a tear for when he said “I’m just lucky to be alive.” “If I didn’t get sent to rehab I would be in jail or dead.” I’m mean underage kids have been smoking since the beginning of time basically and I’ve never seen anyone die after a few smokes. Then again our cigarettes weren’t as strong as one Juul pod. I mean Truth has told me one pod is equal to a pack of cigarettes and I’m 4 times more likely to smoke because I vape. Never mind the fact that one Juul pod lasts about the same amount of time as a pack of cigarettes and a vast majority of vapers are vaping to get off cigarettes making them much more likely relapse then a non-smoker in the first place but I don’t want facts to get in the way of their manufactured “Truths”. I just can’t believe the news in Chicago dedicated like 5 minutes of their broadcast to this BS story. Christ almighty it’s Chicago, I’m sure there was a few murders they could have reported on but why would they report on people being murdered when they can talk about a white kid who would’ve died if not for his loving mother’s intervention. Why report on what’s actually happening when you can speculate about what could have happened to this poor white boy. #vapingkills#whatif#livingontheedge#Ishouldbedead

The whole story was just so stupid. Opiates, our vets committing suicide, gun violence, just about anything else would have been a better story to run. The story ran March 31st, maybe they had the days mixed up and thought it was April fool’s day. It was that ridiculous, I kept waiting for the kid to start laughing but he said he’s lucky to be alive with a straight fucking face. I very seldom watch the news and the only reason I watched it was because while flipping through the channels I heard something about vaping coming up so I stopped on the channel to see what they had to say. I learned my lesson and next time I’ll know to change the channel because the news has officially became irrelevant.

Winter b4 last on 7 news chicago i believe. There was a story about kicking homeless people out from a train bridge They were living under to get out of the direct weather (during sub zero weather mind you). Anyways they spent all of 35 seconds on that story. Then switched to a story about (i kid you not) taking proper care of your dogs paws in winter. This topic lasted for 4 or 5 minutes. So f u homless people go freeze n die. But heaven help the dogs paws. I basicly stopped watching news after that. Alexa tells me the weather and sports.and that's good enough 4 me.

But We have a huge opioid issue in Illinois West Virginia.

This seems epidemic. I have a script all legit & legal for an opioid pain medicine. Had my wife get some knock off Tylenol yesterday. The GP I now see told me to stay away from NSAID medicines as it might be them causing some trouble with my kidney/s. I cannot even take aspirin as it is considered an NSAID due to the sodium in it. So, acetaminophen or an opioid it has to be for me. I avoid using the opioid until pain becomes extremely bad. unfortunately I still feel that responsibility stuff, @The Cromwell says we're all supposed to not have any more. This is why the GP had no problem giving me the script. I showed him on his little smiley face chart, ... "my number 4 is ten other people's number 10". He grinned, "the nurses told me you're a masochist." Shook my head, "just don't feel it until it's too bad."

In KY for opoid pain medications for chronic pain one MUST go to a proper pain clinic and spend thousands to have them eventually say that you need them after many tests and trials of other medicines that you have already had.

So unless you have terminal cancer opoids are pretty much out legally for a chronic pain sufferer in KY.
Doctor does not have a choice here.
Legislature is practicing medicine.

So I take up to a gram of Naproxin per day to cope with the pain, somewhat...

That sucks man, drives me nuts that lawmakers are going to go over my doctors head and decide they know what’s best for me. My doctor is pretty good but they keep adding more and more hoops to jump through to get my medication. It’s just to cover their ass and have the ability to show that every measure was taken before medicine was prescribed. Drug tests every couple months, dna test to assess likelihood of addiction and pain tolerance, yearly visit to psychiatrist to assess or determine something, I don’t know. I don’t mind for the most part but they just keep adding requirements before they will prescribe painkillers. I had one doctor tell me that morphine isn’t really effective at reducing pain. No of course not it’s just the placebo effect makes people think it’s working. Doctors are treating us depending on what the government decides. I prefer to let the doctor decide what’s best for me. Hell I once had a pharmacist tell me I shouldn’t be taking what I was trying to fill. I said oh no why not? Because those are addictive and dangerous. Oh really wow good thing I ran into this clown. What should I be taking? Anything but these. Oh what am I taking those for? I don’t know he says. Now how the hell can you stand there and determine what I should or should not be taking when you don’t have a clue what I’m taking them for. Anyway that shut him up and I asked for my prescriptions back so I could go somewhere else. Drives me nuts when these glorified pill counters try to tell me I shouldn’t take something with zero knowledge of why I’m taking them. Who do they think they are??the government? These are the same guys who will deny the plan b pill because they think they’re more important then they really are. Can’t wait until they are replaced by robots, they will be one of the first replaced. My current pharmacist is actually a good guy it’s just these clowns who think they are the gatekeepers of moral values. Sorry I’m ranting and sleepy, great combination, so I’m gonna hop off this soapbox before I fall off it. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

On opoid addiction.
I took them for over 12 years... As needed and never a full prescription worth.
I have degenerative disc disease..
The new law cut me off cold and I had no withdrawl. Just more pain.
But that has nothing to do with nothing as far as the legislaturalists are concerned...
They are knee jerk response types with no consideration for the results of their actions.

Yep there are some bad doctors that over prescribe and THEY should be smacked down.
But to hurt all those that benefit from opoids in the effort to curb abuse is stupid.

The politicians used a sledgehammer approach vs a precise one.
As I said stupid.
And why they should not practice medicine without proper training.

Its fukd up. Its Easyer for me to get s big script of opioid meds than a lil script of say minor muscle relaxers. Pharmacy techs give me shit. But 100 big pain meds... here ya go. I don't do any meds from big pharma. If it isn't natural than odds r i don't want it. Even worse they string people out. Get em as addicts and cut them off. Of course they turn to iligal drugs. Its easier to get. Then pharm techs look at u like your a no good junkie when you go to get meds to help you get off shit. But they had no issue giving obserd amounts of addictive pain meds on the other end. Pisses me off.
SORRY BUT THIS TOPIC HITS A NERVE WITH ME AS I HAVE LOST MANY TO THE EPIDEMIC.

State legislators are practicing medicine without a license - they did similar shit up here and it is messed up for genuine pain patients

Sorry to hear that man, that totally sucks. I have a fusion that was going to stabilize my vertebrae above and below my degenerative disc but it was made worse. I broke my vertebrae in the late 90’s and the disc was crushed in the process. That caused the degenerative disc disease and 2005 had the fusion which made things worse instead of stabilizing the area and stopping any further damage. I have nerve damage and above the fusion the disc is bulging just a total shit show in the lower back. Anyway. I’ve been taking opiates daily since 2005 with a one year gap where I had no insurance. Worst year of my life and I’m surprised my liver withstood the abuse that naproxen, acetaminophen, and a little ibuprofen no doubt inflicted. Ibuprofen is rough on my stomach I can only take a couple hundred mg’s every other day or so. The other two I took too much off just for a tiny bit of relief I hoped it would allow me. Without the pain meds I don’t know if I’d bother getting up anymore to be honest. I feel for you man that’s a rough situation I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Doctors got greedy along with Big pharma and the folks that need the meds pay the price. I’ve lost 2 friends to opiates and it’s terrible how many people die everyday but in the land of the free we shouldn’t punish law abiding citizens for the misdeeds of others. I’ve never abused my meds but I’ve seen what they do to some people and it’s terrible. Government has no place making these decisions for doctors and patients. This country is getting ridiculous, no one is responsible for their actions so government needs to step in and protect us from ourselves. I hate to see anyone die from their addictions but taking them away from someone else that needs them is criminal. You need to suffer so someone else doesn’t hurt themselves, F that. That’s not the answer, I’ve been taking these for almost 15 years and never had a problem, never ran out early or had them get “lost” or “stolen” so if they were to come now and say I can’t be trusted with them or I didn’t need them I’d have a big problem with that. This crap gets me worked up but sorry to hear how you’ve been treated @The Cromwell and I wish you the best, tough situation.

Shit I may need your house address, not the old stump by the creek. Found it last time and saw the house but got sidetracked by some coyotes. Then, stumbled over some older fella needing a taste tester for the greasy clean water he was making. "Son, you might not see but you'll be alright by morning, wanna help a codger?" "All I gotta do is get drunk?" "Figure that'll be the first chug, but yeah." "Hell, pass it on here."

I had to walk out blind but once I got past the old hanging tree the eyes started clearing up. No, I don't 'member t'all where he was camped, what he looked liked, what he smelled like, the trail I wandered on, nothing from finding that camp t'all. Have to come that way again, leave off a moon. I don't mind sharing. I'll just hang through a little roughness, not a problem. Know where you are in pain. You ain't no need to have that, let some young pup deal. He still got strong back, not broke yet even if big Uncle & Mecha Bank Corp be trying to break it. Nothing else I'll go find some lightning in a jug, keen it as tonic. Dinnae figure ye be keen to guzzling rocket fuel any more.

Always like simplified definitions regarding folks. Professional, somebody that does it like breathing & doesn't need to think about how to do it, forgotten more than ten experts will ever imagine knowing. Expert, somebody who can tell you they know all about it, but ask them to do it and they get stuck because it's not breathing to them and they point you to the professional. I reckon Mr. trump is some kind of military general Expert, he said he knew better than them how to do their jobs, same with intelligence agencies.

I love having such expert presidents, makes life all the simpler, just go do what needs doing leave it uncredited to who gets it done, say Nobody did it, Of course, the expert president will claim it but that has its own pros and cons, what if it goes foul? Ah, Mr. Expert President did it ... yep, works fine. Legislature playing docs, well that's the same bowl of soup really, now we can start putting Governors & Senators, Congress People on the hook. "Hey, the dope you guys put us on killed ten children. We were fine with the other dope the docs give but it didn't suit you. Dead children does?"

Whole big ass bowl of shit soup just waiting, yep, yep. Be funny watching government go bankrupt from class action suits filed under civil law. Figure they'll find a way to avoid criminal law so none of 'em actually owe any skin. Well piss, lemme step out of that conversation. *hug* @The Cromwell Hang tough, a way comes along with a will. I'll drop the poly ticks over yon way in that big old sink. Just makes me blood wanna eat tack nails spit out barb wire fence. I know better, let a little and wound too much, apologies.

The shine reference made me laugh. My old man went to visit a friend outside Harlan (in WV.) They kept the stuff in the freezer. He burnt his lips taking a swig! But he had fun. Lol

Ohh well once I destroy my liver and kidneys with the Nsaids then I can prolly get opoids?

Ask around for a “croaker” who takes insurance. My hubs was on pain meds for a while for a back injury. It’s a legal doctor who will prescribe the amount you actually need for pain relief. Without acting like you’re a hard up dope fiend or something.

Sorry to hear about this, Cromwell. Be careful with the NSAIDS.

Nope a Kentucky law prohibits prescribing opoids for a maintenance use. Only 30 days or so.
One can theoretically go to a pain clinic and get them after paying several thousands for diagnostic work that has already been done on me.
And paying for office visits and such every 30 days.
Insurance coverage is very poor for such things.

One word: Kratom
YEP!

works better for me than Naproxin which has been just sitting on the shelf for a month now.
Of course the FDA is on track to ban that :blah::crazy::xD::gaah::cuss2:

Prepping though have a couple of years worth of Kratom in the freezer.
Must get more.

I read about another case on Reddit. Some hockey kid blew his scholarships because he started "Juul'ing" senior year. He could've been the next Wayne Gretzky but he threw it all away when he started vaping. Bullshit.

We have the best government that money can buy. And therein lies the problem.

To me this sounds like someone has been reading Antony C. Sutton. He wrote a book similarly titled. He explained with validly proved documentation how Wall Street financed Germany in WWII. He also held proof of various other stuff and his writings were at one time blacklisted here in the U.S.. No publisher would publish him at the time except a university press. He produced lots of interesting reading. A lot of it resonated along the lines of "what you're taught as being history is lies". Given the axiom that victors write history his sense of reasoning and logic makes sense.

Hi all, I’m new to the forums. Will be here a while I’m sure. I am DONE buying cigarettes at 9$ a pack! Going to the vape shop that has helped my friend numerous times. Very knowledgeable. .

Anyways, I HAD to reply on this topic because it’s RIDICULOUS, the number of 911/ambulance calls I have responded to in the past 3-4 weeks with (un-named teen ), having an anxiety attack, causing their parents to have Anger/anxiety attacks because they “don’t feel right” and it MUST BE from using their Vape, friends vape, etc. Ever since the news has blown a few select, un researched cases out of proportion; I get a dispatch 3-5 times a week for an (un-named) teen who is “dying” . I run 911 ambulance for a busy suburban township and it just reassured me how powerful the influence of news (even BAD news) can be on people. People hear the first 4 words of a news article..... Teen dies from vaping... ( details never read ).

I’ll be reading all night, thanks everyone for having such a well laid out, clean forum community.

If you got shock/trauma tech certs you might pull off the "handy pill for that" routine. I'm sure you know the sweet results of it well. "This'll fix you right up no matter what ails you. It's our special medicine we carry for such emergencies." Of course, that is also possibly not too advisable either. Can recall how the joke was E.M.T.s were being taught "legal CPR".

1. Stand well back.

2. Stomp on the ground in the patient's general direction.

3. Yell "live".

4. Repeat until patient lives, or coroner arrives to call TOD.

Then, too also saw how effective the human touch is.

Thanks for sharing, it’s interesting to hear how these news reports are causing people to overreact. Unfortunately the CDC knew this which is why they held off identifying the real culprit of these vape illnesses. People are lazy when it comes to news, they read the headline but the retraction weeks later goes unnoticed. Powerful people want vaping killed and they did a good job maximizing the effect these illnesses provided. I’m not one to buy into conspiracies, but if I was, I’d find it rather interesting that the anti-vapers seemed ready and waiting to take advantage of the situation.

I think it’s funny with all these “vaping illnesses” because ever since I quit cigs and switched to vaping I’ve been healthier. No coughing. No shortness of breath. Can taste and smell my food better. Don’t stink. Teeth are white again. Skin even looks better.
I feel like vaping is saving lives. Big tobacco kills you quickly or slowly depending on your addiction.
I can’t wait for the day when they finally admit vaping isn’t the problem.

Were these teens vaping high mg nic salts? If they start feeling bad, it might be that they’re “nic sick”. If so, look up the symptoms and see if it’s that. It could cause anxiety, etc.

The nicotine in regular juice is different from that in tobacco. Anyway, for the most part these kids are vaping counterfeit THC carts. And who knows what’s in them?

Could be all sorts of chemicals

*chuckles* The pure fresh air we breathe is chemicals. :) German alchemists figured out certain mixtures of chemicals created different pigments. With that discovery arose a slogan which is still used even today. "Better living through chemicals."

They were seeking a cheaper alternate way to create the royal blue color. It was found and then the recipe used for creating that color got given out publicly. That meant the royal blue color lost relevance as being the color strictly for authority, anyone could make royal blue garments. That was how it was established, "living can be better using chemicals", or "better living through chemicals."

As Francis Bacon quips, "Knowledge is power." We swim in data, it is data (facts, measures) which is culled together forming narrative, narrative then becomes information. At the point of being made narrative is where intention is most crucial. If the intention is to sell a car let's say, any data that is seen as ill seeming for that car gets "lost" from that narrative. It is the same process to "sell" ideas.

I understand all that, thank you for the information. I’m just referring to the THC carts specifically. Especially with fentanyl being put into all sorts of drugs, you can’t ever be too careful now a days. People selling you products on the street don’t care if you get sick and/or die. They just want their money.
