Squonkers are Bonkers

Now that i think about it,your mesh may have hot spots in it.I did have that issue when i got my first profile.Take out the wick and dry fire the coil at around 20 watts ,it should glow evenly all across the mesh.If it doesn't try brushing across it with a screw driver or something, just make sure your not pushing the fire button when you do it,that would be bad haha. But anyway, that should work out the hot spots,if not then try the other piece of mesh.My first one i had to replace because no matter what i did it still had a hot spot.
I fixed it I rewicked now she's hitting smooth vaping @ 65w and the flavor is do good. How much better are the other mesh coils I forget them name of them..I'm using the wotofo mesh.

Any dripper can flame up, with enough juice , cap off, and way too many watts.
Juices that contain alcohol are more susceptible.
You have to be a "professional" vaper: 2:05
He just didn't know what the hell he was doing though ,
and couldn't vape at all
just trying to sell a product that was out of his knowledgeable use

Good to hear you got it.As for the mesh, the others i haven't tried, but i know a few people who like those better, they are lower resistance,i think like .13 ohms or something. The only other mesh i tried was some Vandy vape SS mesh that i had to cut to size,i used it for about a day, then went back to the Wotofo mesh because i liked it better.

So looking at this its not the usual bright and multi coloured blanks
it more of a camo type blank
whats thoughts do you think would make a nice dna 60 mod, or not ? For some small unusual little mod for 22mm RTA,

This is my 1st mesh RDA I like it for the flavor its a good buy. The ohms are .18. Iv been looking at the voopoo drag 2 177w for when I wanna blow a cloud or 2.

I put plenty of juice on it. I made a error in the wicking I guess, I really don't see how because before I wicked I made sure the mesh was seated all the way down then I tightened the screws..
Right when I got my profile I took the spring out and stretched it a bit to make it more stiff. but lots of good advice here. I've never had a dry /burning hit with my profile @ 55 - 60 watts with wotofo mesh.

I really hope that's not a do or die situation, seriously. Take a step back, let some videos and some advice sink in and then go back to the drawing board. Mesh can be one hell of a lot more problematic than regular coils. My personal attitude with mesh coils is....when you think you have too much wick, add some more. I may have been among the first ones in this thread to try the first mesh rda to come on the market. I don't use it anymore because it takes a LOT of juice to keep the wick adequately moist and in general it needs lots of airflow (a thing I don't enjoy) otherwise things get hot quick!

If you want to get a better idea of what that block will look like when finished (polished or whatever) swipe a bit of water or mineral oil on it.

Yo WTF...my coil gets cherry red then it turns into a lighter..

I don't think my cotton is touching the coil in certain areas. I ended up using all the wick..
Operator error

I got the top cap off and I'm firing it on 20w for like a second to see if I see red, I do see red when I fire is that normal on mesh coils?

Damn....coughing my brains out on 90w dang man, my cotton is touching the mesh but the mess is still red as I fire...great flavor on 30 up to about 65. Is this thing Kent to fire on 90w?

if your seeing red with a wick in and juiced up,no that isn't normal.Your wick is not tight enough against the mesh,or there are spots where the wick isn't touching.Mesh is very unforgiving when it comes to the wick not touching. When i got my first profile,i put the wick in too loose and got the dry hit from hell haha,i felt like i was breathing fire.Ever since,i have made sure my wick is pretty snug against the mesh and no problems anymore.

I recommend you stop what you are doing right now and re-educate yourself before doing one more thing with a vape ever

Yeah I actually breathed a flame just a sec ago! Guess I'll stuff some more cotton in there. I just learned a lesson.

Dude - you seriously need to step back to square one on vaping - you are not taking the danger very seriously here

Did you dry fire with the cotton in it? Gotta make sure the cotton is tight enough that it doesn't fall away from the mesh when juiced up. I've got all my profile rdas no more than 50 watts. I was however vaping it on a mech earlier with no issues. And it was definitely higher than 50. Watch some videos. Try again but you don't have to vape at 90. Mesh heats faster than regular coils so you should be able to cut it back some

You went way over what Wotofo rates their mesh. You shouldn't be firing it that at 90W. Keep it low until you can trust your wicking technique is solid.

Good point,I run a couple on mechs with no issues,on a fresh battery they will hit up close to 90 watts, and no issues,so i think he definitely has a wicking issue,or not enough juice soaked into the wick before firing it.

Well...not really but it was close. Just because I didn't get it the first timendoesnt mean I need to sale it or go back to pen eciggs. Out of all the videos iv watched on the profile not one mentioned anything about the mesh catching fire if the cotton isn't pressed up against the mesh. This is my first time using mesh. I might not have gotten it right the 1st time but by gosh I'll get it right the 2nd time..

It takes a lot of wick, period. I can't answer for everyone but I think we all started with a lot and thinned from there. Stuff it and hose it down with juice. By all means find a safer place to start.

Alright, many questions were given answers in all of this discussion regarding using mesh. Not ever claimed to be the brightest crayon in any box here. Something I learned when little though has stuck with me. When I was a little boy I hung out with the grandmas, paps, and old Joe what was in this war or that with a pap or paw paw, or that Mary from up the way that took in laundry back when it was rough for everybody. The old folk would get together and start telling stories. Well, my Pap told me he liked how I listened and said it was a good way to learn. So that's been with me for a lifetime or so, being an old soul you realize you get a few lifetimes in one life if you work life right.

I wondered about trying mesh for myself. Now, I don't wonder about it. Some times it is good a person can realize their limitations. Mine is a lack of patience with myself. From the discussion it seems there was a bit of putting the cart before the horses. Can admit I would probably try the same way. "Let me get this going, right now," I can imagine myself exclaiming. Then, it also looks like using mesh requires a lot more investment of juice, time, effort, all around in general hassle. Ultimately, I'll not wonder because I've decided to not bother with it. Doesn't seem a thing worth my attention when I can use a simple bit of Kanthal wound up on a single coil deck.

I can blow a few or more clouds at times squonking with my set ups. Not going to tell you I win cloud competitions. Never competed, never saw a need to it. Still I can fog up a standard size room once in a while. Also get a potent bit of flavor, that is when I add flavor to my base juice. I also don't go through a lot of juice which can be helpful on a budget. I may roughly use around 4 mL/day of juice. Not really seen how long a coil can be used here, not yet anyway. Been well I say busy but truth is playing around and discovering good, solid builds, swapping this coil for that one and then another and so on. *chuckles* Reckon I'll be figuring out how long one can go next.

No, I ain't trying to shame ya, or tell ya how to do or such. I'm just relating what I do. I'm sure all the standard disclaimers apply, such as void for legal or medical advice, your mileage may vary, there's always more than one way to skin a cat and so on. We're here in the bonkers squonk asylum. Makes me sad seeing folks talk about needing other kinds of gear. I'll overlook it once, after that you might not like me. I don't like being sad or nasty. As Smoky the bear admonishes, "only you can prevent forest fires."

Ah hell, after 2 AM here. Enough medicine in me to tranquilize a raging bull elephant. Ugh, yep I must be getting old, I feel the medicine. Well, reckon I better, ...

Just my opinion, but i think mesh is well worth the trial and error to get it going right.I have probably 50 or so non mesh rda's that some were ok,some were shit, and a few that are great, but after getting my first profile and getting it set up correctly, none of my other rda's matter any more haha. That first draw off of a properly wicked mesh coil got me hooked, now i have 7 profiles, with 3 more on the way, that way i have plenty of mods set up with them and ready to go.I haven't used any of my regular rda's in several months now.

That's part of why I love vaping. It's very perspective. I see allot of people loving mesh tanks and stoppers. I, myself can't bring myself to get one. I'm a traditionalist. I just love an rdawith a set of good, old fashioned coils. Mesh just doesn't fell right to me. I am atm using a pair of series build fused claptons in my Bonza and I love it. But many people love mesh and that's ok. We vape how we love to vape and we share what we are vaping for others to see and/or try themselves. Vape on brother and we can discuss this whole mesh thing some time. Maybe I'll understand this whole mesh craze thing one day :)

Could not be in more agreement with this & the statement below. Perhaps, I may yet am ignorant of how it would be possible. If I'm ignorant on that I apologize, will aim to bettering myself.

Exactly & I'm not going to go out brandishing a fully automatic gun, sword, Abram's tank, Harrier jet loaded with nuclear weapons demanding everyone use the same exact gear & build I use. *chuckles* No, not my idea of fun at all. I like an expression my acid queen mother would spout at times. "We live our lives best we can and let others do the same, we live and let live," she would tell us. Of course, I also saw my mother get a wild look in her eyes like a rabid honey badger when she felt someone was in the wrong to the point they were "treading on us". She raised us three boys mostly on her own, my stepdad being a long haul otr driver. No way she took any guff. :) To this day I still fear thinking a b word, and her in the same thought, fearing she'll hit me with a hay-maker out of the blue, a boy never calls his mom that, never. My mom loves me, I know because I lived. :)

Can i ask the DIY bonkers
Where else sells catchcup 510s 22-24mm
bf and none bf versions
apart from the usual mod maker nano,s
and mod Dog 510s (which id prefer) but xant ever catch them in stock
Although i think will pick up a couple of there 21700 tubes, .is there any other good ones ?

Im UK so uk- Eu side of pond site preferred for shipping costs ,

Still stocking up on a few parts in prep
For mosfet/dna 60 /75c builds i would like to try looking for catchcup so i can sink into the mod and try to mould the wood body the atty,

they are still the best ones

varitube are pretty good, switch em out to manually adjust. The spring loaded way has issues
Which are best ones
mod dog
Or mod makers ?
Or both in general ?

I have some mod makers 510s already in uses and spare. Just not picked up the cupped ring for them
But i have Not got/ tried the new nano version yet?

I would like at least one manual adjustable 510, to try with it being better contac

Mod dog also has own bottle system to use with its nano 510s slot in out design

Where MM 510 can use metal feed tube
For easy slide in out using on a couple mods now,

Used varitube in past for the old RX dna 200 conversion 510 swaps but also looking for option of 510 being cupped for counter sinking and protecting mod sides over time,

Ok, so 2019 is the year that I started going bonkers for squonkers. Most of you probably have tried all sorts of BF devices. Remember when you had three and it was exciting? That's where I'm at. I will have way more than this by 2020 but here's what I'm working with.

I'm just now getting into RDAs as well. Maybe I've mentioned it. I have my eyes on a bunch. I'm still trying to decide what kind of drip tips I like. Do you guys know where I can get an assortment for fairly cheap? I'm not tryin to spend twenty bucks on flashy drip tip.
