View attachment 131742 There is nothing that beats the feeling of holding some good hard wood in your hand and just polish the hell out of it!
It takes effort and the deeper you get the colors look more vivid and alive....... And I haven't waxed her yet......

I have to work a little longer......make the edges rounder..... Before the wax......

Yes, this is the way stabwood mods should look. That is absolutely beautiful! But the hand job to get it to look like that would add another $500 or more.

The most I ever spent on a Mod was $8,000. It was a Mech though. 26650 batteries I like too, don't get me wrong. However wait until Mooch tests them. They grossly inflate claims. No way 5K to 10K MAH is 60 amp period. It is an outright lie by Chinese. It is physically impossible with todays technology. 5K might be 15A which is barely okay under 75W. 10K is no doubt 5A battery. Unsafe for us here. I look forward to it though. Even in my flashlights some can draw 200A. I have 16x Cree 45,000 Lumens. Runs 7 minutes lol.

Manny, any way I can polish acrylic finished Mod? Do not want to go through the acrylic though. A mess than. Perhaps "buff", not polish.

Acrylic is tough.....

And at above 4000 to 12000 you aren't going to damage anything..... Specially by hand..... With a power buffer .....YES......

The friction of the high speed buffing is what damages the wood and acrylic........

I have some yellow Maxo cells..... But love and use mostly the IJoy cells....... Batteries are the least of my worries.......

The ThorII is by no means a big Mod. It is a bit tall of course. It fits in large hand great. Manny, seeing you I imagine your hands are not tiny. I am sure you can handle it LOL. Lustro is bigger. It is the only Mod I know that has no gaps whatsoever on the battery tube. I hate that. Maybe you just don't like exposed tube? Ultroner/Asmodus is the best built period. Of course that does not mean everything. Although you are still buying Asmodus after you own custom jobs. That speaks volumes. You want the best quality for the least money it is here. Although $300+ is a fortune for China. It is akin to $2,500 in Pinoy or especially Poland. Al are so-so countries but China has the machines no one has. Million dollar Lathe Vs. $5,000 one or yet chisel? I have Pinoy, Poland and other stuff too. Don't get me wrong. Just not as well built IMO. That is not the only thing that matters though. My $13,000 Mod has gaps in the frame! Yet, everyone and their dog wants it from me. German Mods great if you can find them. I have one made in some odd country you would never guess and I can't even remember where. Still Ultroner remains the only ones that are flawless. You cannot count the bad Evolv board I just got LOL.

stupid question = you guys take the mod apart to sand/finish, correct ?

Hardware room? I am pretty sure they do not take it apart. However, if you get ANYTHING whatsoever in the USB port= dead mod. I imagine they tape it, or they should.

Just ordered DPM Sierra. Very nice IMO. Although like everyone else(except Ultroner) he is not great at making an exposed tube Mod. It is the hardest to make and actually shows their true capability. Or lack of Million Dollar machines :) He does not make an exposed tube 75C anyways so does not matter to me. VA charging $500USD for non 'C' chip it ridiculous to me honestly. Just my opinion. Not everyone wants/needs the color screen. To be frank no one needs it but I do like it very much. I do not like SX350J. Talk to me about SX580J! Which no one but YIHI has at the moment anyways. I feel the ThorII is the best Mod currently but again just my opinion. It is also "cheap" if you feel $300+USD is "cheap". Well, it is very cheap for Stabwood 75C not to mention the level of build quality.

Amazingly still not a drop from the Crown IV. If you run it nearly empty then it will leak a bit. This is great because so far my fire button has maintained what little wood grain this one has.

As Manny said I make no qualms that these are indeed expensive. I do not mean to upset anyone. If you simply cannot afford them there is nothing wrong with that either. There are more important things. In fact I would trade every single one to make just one cat live longer. Manny, I do not mean to be a jerk but your business is obviously doing very well. I had no idea that career made that type of "disposable" income. Well it actually doesn't. I take it you are very good at what you do and in high demand. Hats off to you! I mean shit, Alice Cooper? You are not the "average" home inspector LOL. I know a guy does it makes like $80K. Once I was a big time Attorney. Lived in Chicago. Yeah, I retired well but happy to be retired. That job honestly sucked. Getting off criminals and if I did not, death threats. Later I gave up and programmed computers. I had a good run but glad to be done. Retired long time now though. Shit I am 81. Plus as I have discussed I moved to an impoverished area so I could live like a king. No one here despises me though. I help anyone I can. Again, did not mean to be a jerk. Just telling where I personally got the wherewithal to buy all these. We already know what Manny does. Anyways as I said there are much more important things in life. I buy them because I can. I would not fret if I could not. I know, "sure you say that" but if you knew me you would know it is true. I do not give a shit about material things in the end. Life, of all forms is what matters to me. Just figured I would tell this. What I want everyone to take from it is life matters. these things not so much.

Sorry if I shared too much LOL.

don't be ashamed of what you built for yourself (I know your not, i'm just say'n).
your not a braggart , so nothing wrong with "just say'n". Hats off to you, and Manny :)

I could buy $5000 in mods and such, right now, cash. but I am a humble dude. and as you say = there are other things in life.
on top of that, I do not see my furture being good = some day I will "need" that $5000, for food and things, so.
hell, that $5000 may well go in my teeth, very soon.

I missed my "calling" many years ago, I didn't know then. I suffer for it now = low'ish income.
Oh-Well. like POPEYE says (in my best popeye voice, that I am actually pretty good at) IT ISK WHAT IT ISK !

If the mod has a black frame, or gold I would cover the metal parts with blue painters tape or masking tape of any kind..... If it's regular Aluminum or Stainless Steel is not necessary since you are polishing the metal at the same time.......

That's why I buy only mods with Stainless Steel nothing Gold or Black...

My Duke SX is the only woodie I Own with a Dark frame......

I’m addicted alright! Stabwood Sickos Not So Anonymous :giggle: !! Too bad I really can’t afford it lol!!
That Dremel is a good idea if I’m careful enough. I may even have one in my basement. I’ll have to get some polishing /buffing pads. I’ll look into it. Thanks
View attachment 131741 I just started with a coarse grit, like 1000, to get the surface imperfections off, then gradually worked up to the 12000 grit for the final polish. I did have to start over with the Asmodus, because while polishing with 8000 grit I started to see imperfections that I had missed the first time over (I have been called anal retentive but I prefer the term fastidious). A sanding tool may help on the flat parts but would make the rounded areas more challenging.

The colors just pop and have such depth!! Thanks I think that’s where I went “wrong”. I didn’t start with low enough grit so I’ve been struggling to even out the surfaces. That helps a lot!

Are you use renaissance polish or something else? 2 coats of whatever?

We do good work...... And once an investor gets an inspection and a report from us...... They tell everyone....

We do big dollar inspections for grow houses in the medical **** business.... They require amazing amounts of power to run power compacts (12) to (18) hours a day and to create indoor sunlight to cover a football field of plants ..... Indoors

So the power loads and amperage melts insulators, creates arcing and overloads panels.

An 150,000 SPF roof that needs repair and resurfacing can be $300k to repair.....

We do buildings with 150 heat pumps on the roof.... Buildings with prestressed concrete ceilings and roofs and tilt walls.

Buildings with Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels....

If I'm not making $500 bucks I ain't getting out of bed......

Some inspections take (2) of us an entire week and days to complete the 50 page report.....

We just completed an inspection that we charged $35,000 to complete.

And in the report we found $370,000 in repair costs and the property was lowered $500k from the original asking price......

I have 3 or 7 days off I better enjoy it because sometimes I work (45-60) days straight.....

thiss mod would be AWESOME all polished up.

Yeah, but those oshmiums mods I see for $80 bucks everywhere..... They are new $189 and are sold for $80 bucks

That's not a good deal to me..... I buy a $700 Viscious Ant use it, polish it and keep it...... And If I decide to sell it and get $750 for it..... That's a good deal......

I have (4) Vapedroid X1C2 mods.... They were between $179 and $250 dollars each...... They are now worth $550 to $1,000 each.....

People say you can't buy mods as an investment....... Well they are wrong ...

You have to have patience and find the correct desired mod ..... Wood, plastic, Ultem, who cares..... It needs to be unique...... And special........

Before I buy a Minikin V2 Kodama I look what's inside..... Open the door and look inside with a flashlight.... What I see in there is what's going to shine on the outside.....

I have bought more than (10) Minikin V2 Kodama's and only kept (2).......

Sorry buddy, never had a stabwood and they normally out of my price range, so this was too good of a deal to miss out on :)

As said, never had a stabwood, so any advice from anyone who has one on polishing and what to use to keep it protected would be appreciated.

Thanks folks. I felt I told it like it is. don't feel bad if you can't get one. It hardly matters. Although that mod I bought for like $750 a few years ago I had no idea people would be offering me 13 Grand for it now! I do not buy these as investments but I had no clue. The Asmodus stuff I doubt ever be worth much except for Manny's polished ones :)

Manny, thanks for explaining what you do. I figured I was being nosey. jinx'd don't worry. It is all good. Don't even be tempted by this stuff. As I said and you agreed there is more important stuff. You will pick up something nice for $80. don't worry about it. You made me feel bad though. Not your fault at all. Just puts in perspective reality. I wish you the best.

yes, interesting.

I do worry, I have much to worry about. that is one reason why I like vaping, it is an escape from reality.
yeah, it is my fault, kinda. among other things, I hung out with the wrong people, I "thought" they were friends .

The Squonkers might loose 25% of the original price......

It takes patience...... Looking and looking..... And look for very specific designs and colors and the gorgeous wood......

I know it's hard to come up with several hundred dollars for a mod..... But I used to save and save..... Man saving every cent to buy (1) mod....

But when I buy one believe me.... It's a sweet mod...... And taking care of your baby is a must..... You can use it but don't abuse it......

I don't see buying a mod and keeping her in a box...... That's why they are nice......

They get polished and oil in them..... When you use a Stabwood mod you give her what she needs..... Moisture and oil from your hands...... Wood loves hands......

Imagine saying that...... Yeah I grab my wood every day because my wood loves the oils and grease from my hands.... And I polish my wood all the time......

Some people will say man what a wierdo.........

I have polished the fucking thing so much that where the round areas where they are like gone......

It takes one form and you can't even see round anymore......

The first picture was my first week......

The second picture (3) weeks in.....

There has to be a way to get an alarm or at least an email when someone posts something for sale......

That way the shit is sold immediately......

I bought a Rebel DNA 75c from Fuseryder....... I mean he had that thing in there for weeks for $135 bucks......

I saw it and put a in PM sent...... I'm talking within several hours (20) people wanted the fucking thing.....

And even though they communicate with the seller......

He told me Manny you sent me a message and paid me immediately so you get her......

No. I’ve just been using masking or painters tape on the exposed metal parts.
Your doing good Sara keep it up...... Now remember it's not rocket science......

As you mentioned before learning by reading and information then doing it yourself you are learning and observation is the best way...... To get good at it...... But I can tell that mod is a great example to see what's below that grain.........

Remember you can drop down to 1000 grit or 1500 but follow the process up again......

1000 grit then 4000 then 8000 then 12000......

You can bounce back and forth until you finally find that sweet spot........

Thanks Manny. I was too nervous to try anything below the 6000 grit micro mesh. But now I’m going to start over again on the EOS II since it has the more ridges than the Minikin V2 has. Plus if I’m going to screw up I don’t want to screw up the Minikin V2 lol! It’s my “fave” mod. So far !!

Bananas, wood? This thread has more references to the Phallus. Of course having nothing to do with such LOL. It would be hilarious if someone compiled all the unintended references to such completely out of context LOL.

ThorII is my "fave mod now. My daily driver. It has but one small issue. The handle for the battery cap in the erect position(yes, I just added that to the list). It will not stay up LOL. Short of Viagra, Manny do you know any way I could stiffen it? I thought a little glue just for friction even though the bond will be broken. However I absolutely do not wish to accidently cover up the hidden vent holes. Any ideas? They did think of everything though. Closed position is magnetic! Yes, I love this one best. Well, love is a strong word. "like", okay? I swear it is flawless. I will hit it with 12,000 or 20,000 Emery cloth for extra shine. Again, you just cannot make the exposed battery tube to this tolerance without big bucks machines. To be a broken record here. I do like many others but this is my daily driver. They had to machine polish it for 5 minutes because under the acrylic coating no one could do so. It looks the business. I am hard pressed to say if I like this one or the defunct one before it better. This one suits me fine. Wonder why I picked the other one first. I cannot say I liked that one better though. Plus light shining through resin is a nice unintended plus.

It turns out this was a limited run of 30. Not 50 as I had mentioned before. It only has number on the COA though, not on the Mod itself. Still, just being Chinese I doubt it ever appreciates but who knows. Stranger things have happened. People just bash china but case in point they can bring it if they wish so. Amazingly with my new tank not leaking the fire button has thus far even retained what little wood grain it has. Nice.

I do not mean to be a deouche(different anatomy there) about it since it is not custom but I just really like it. Everyone knows Ultroner/Asmodus is a bargain. They will have lower price when they get it too. Plus their 30% off sales makes it within reach of many more folks. It is the only one I ever saw that has no gaps whatsoever on the battery tube meets wood(yes, I just said wood again). I have much more expensive Mods but I am really digging this right now. It is a tad tall but by no means a big Mod. Lustro is much larger to give perspective. So I highly suggest this one. Manny, with all you get I do not see why not. Of course solely up to you. With 18650 or 21700 the exposed battery tube is the latest thing. DPM's offering was not so great and did not have 75'C'. So I ordered the Sierra which seems very nice. Although even the color is not as good as this without sanding. It is roughly twice the price to boot. Custom is custom. It is nicer solely for that. in reality the build quality of Thor/II is second to none for "cheap". Luckily I know how to use Moto tool so do not have to spend hours.

Well, did I say I dig it? again, not to be a deouche(although I think I am taking this in a whole new direction, Females welcome too!).
No offense of course just joking around.

Man, 21700 just does not last like 26650. Well of course, more MAH but not that much more. So what gives there?

Manny, Hopefully you have a fix for battery plug handle will not stay standing up? Only little niggle with it. Not a huge deal if it possibly involves plugging the holes. Although I am sure a vent situation would blow glue right out of there. For now I will just try kids Elmer's.

I found I have a mod that is made in Japan. only one ever made apparently. bet that does well in the market. Right now If I had to keep but one, you know which one it is :)

Right now If I had to keep but one, you know which one it is :)

.
See if you can replace that small magnet with an Earth magnet.....

No the whole thing is magnetized no magnet. But.... I just fixed it. Tiny drop of super glue careful not to block holes. Checked with toothpick. It is fine now! I am rather handy too but I doubt anything like you,Manny. Just the added friction of the residue fixed it as I had figured.

28.6W is fine for me and it works fine. I am actually blowing nice clouds. Not enough to set off alarms luckily. I could not even stand 90+W. In temp control it works a little differently. It is actually lowering it! If I went say 65W on the 75C the batteries would last 10 minutes. I even have the display on 4 out of 10. This type of battery just does not last. Ijoy is the best though. So no sense in trying other brands. Strange that Tesla cars is going to 21700 then. They have already purchased 15 Million cells. I guess in relation to 18650 it is half the size of the 26650 but 50% more MAH. Even though it is slightly taller. It just does not last like 26650 though which is only 400 more MAH. Odd.

I could swear I saw a small magnet somewhere on the mod.......

@fidola13 I used a couple of coats of renaissance wax when I was through sanding, but honestly it was so shiny from the sanding that you really couldn’t tell It was waxed.
Also, Manny is spot on in not covering the metal bits (except if it is plated gold or some such) as the finer grit polishing pads shine up the metal just fine. Just be careful and don’t try sanding the screen! Also always go in one direction, I did top to bottom and back.
Polishing stabwood is absolutely worth the effort! I am excited to see how yours turns out.

To be fair it what works for you

I don’t go down to really fine grits 3000 and above as I’m removing product I only need to flatten the surface them polish using mops with various compounds

I can lap polish if I need too but I find a polishing lathe is best

But resin mods are different from different countries I don’t use aluminate resin or colours as such nor is it polyester resin

I know a lot of companies use 2 pac top coat but that instals a mechanical bond and can and will flake Off

I certainly hope it does not come off of ThorII. China, they cut corners somewhere. Appears to be polyester. Or less likely 2 part epoxy. Too thin to be that I think. Also too uniform. Bet it is polyester. I had said acrylic but that is probably incorrect too.

Yours are very nice. Seems like good price too for even higher quality. I see you have no gaps in battery tube meets wood. Do you use a CNC lathe and/or router or all by hand? If by hand that is spectacular

Still very good quality presses. I did not know by hand is better? I see you have no gaps on battery tube. Everyone else does. I guess you are just very good! Your price at least on the one priced is extremely fair as well for everything you put into it. I imagine like everything else the ThorII's finish is electrostatically sprayed. I hope. Yes, that by hand I know is better but if it is Electro-sprayed should not peel off either. How much do you want for the one with the DNA75C? I have a feeling that one is much more money? Made in G7 country by hand for good price, well shoot me down.

thank you the gap if there is one may be less than a quarter of an mm 0.20 wood mods and hybrid do expand and contract so you can have a gap and as the battery gets warm it will close I see no right or wrong way if a guy has spent months saveing up, weeks to make the mod and people slag that making off, I see it as wrong it may be not as good as a vicious ant mod but the guy has put his heart and soul into that mod

I can't say my prices in this section it's not right and proper I'm sorry, to answer the question over spay coating a mod means cost is lower so the mod can be sold cheaper in the world of production mods saving $3 on a mod is over a run is many dollars

edit ive edited this 3 times so you can understand my midlands accent :(:)
