I ordered a ThorII. Yes, it was over $300 with shipping but it is comparable to Mods priced in the stratosphere if you look at that NYC site I posted. It was a 1/1 too. It was actually a "deal" because just the Mod was $400. I paid $270+$32.50 shipping 3day from UK. It will be here Tuesday. I realize this is expensive. No doubt about that. Still much less than any custom.

I am just amazed people equate China with junk. Soon Asmodus will have them for $270ish or less and when they keep giving 30% off hopefully more people can get one in their hands. I am not going to say exactly what but it is a dead ringer for an $8,000 custom Mod. If you look at it that way it was "cheap". I have a feeling that "tube" is going to scratch all over though. I do not mind I use my stuff. I am not a collector.

I could not figure out pictures and frustrated the poop out of me. I am sorry because I really want Y'all to see this. I am too old and sick to frustrate myself though. You have to understand I was born before Television let alone Internet. I am honestly proud of myself I am even posting on here. FaceBook ETC I have no clue how to use. I have a Flip phone because I could not even answer IPhone. I am not stupid okay. I am nearly a century old and I am also very sick. I do not want any pity I am just saying some technology I do not understand anymore.

On that note, Manny is young so I hope he is alright. I felt he is my friend even though I never met him.

I only have a stock picture of the Ultroner x Asmodus Thor II squonk- it is gorgeous- not sure what colors you chose but sure it is gorgeous- too bad you don't know how to put your pictures online- would love to see it!
Hey and if you love it and can buy it- who is to judge? It is your money, spend it on what makes You happy!

I am glad to see you here Manny. Thank you, SnapDragon. I hate when people make an insult about money. I worked hard for 50 years. I am glad you folks are civil.

I wanted a JM Mod. It is too expensive. Although it has a Stabwood faceplate and all wood buttons with no frame. I have one like that. Guy did not know what is was worth and sold to me for $60 LOL. My experience with that type of setup is the buttons feel very poorly. So I am glad I got the Ultroner and did not spend more for a prettier Mod but not great tactile buttons.

Here is the exact unit I got.
Video should be better than Pic anyways? Check out their Website. Pricey but fancy stuff. They went in Business 4 days ago. Luckily they did ship it already. It may surprise me and arrive Saturday or Monday. Still 6 days from UK on multiple carriers is not bad. The expedited shipping was $30.50. Standard 11 day shipping was $26. So no brainer there. I think it is interesting logistics to get it that fast from across the world. For instance that is 13 hour flight alone. Cannot complain. Luckily the Gentleman that could not deliver was super cool and refunded me in 10 minutes. Worked out well. I was afraid shopping overseas would not.

Mine is not a squanker and I am still amazed this is made in China. JM is made in Europe but twice as much money and not really as nice. Check out their stuff though. Now I just have to get some 21700. Which is much smarter than 2x 18650 IMO. It takes 18650 as well though.

I appreciate both of you. So, all of the sudden I thought I realized it had a big crack in the base per pics. The wind went out of my sails. Then upon closer inspection it appears to just be squiggly black lines in the wood! I hope so. I doubt they would sell a new $280 Mod with a huge crack anyways. Although they can crack but I think this one is okay after all. Would not be surprised if it cracks on trip anyhow. Since it is currently 71 below zero here. Not kidding. My Mustache froze my mouth shut in 5 minutes! Let the youngsters take care of the animals this week. That is people in their 40's LOL.

Check out the JM JellyBean Mod. I did not think it was worth $550. If they can make this good in China just goes to show. What lines Walmart shelves is mostly junk but China can no doubt bring their "A" game if they so wish. For one thing it is not an American company looking for cheapest labor. It is a Chinese company left to their own devices. Ultroner+Asmodus decided to enter the high end market. It is every bit as good as European or American Mods. Just not the expense.

$310 total is in fact a lot to me. Even though it is not much for something like this. Asmodus is getting it very soon. Should be a bit less money too. Then when they keep running their 30% off sales more people can have one. I just saw that one and it was calling my name. Ironically I stick with Asmodus,Ultroner. They are less likely to break than other Mods. That says a lot right there. I never myself knew China could make such quality. I was really surprised when I found out it was not US made. Go figure. Except hard core China bashers which is uncalled for IMO. They are Human beings too, you know.

It takes effort.... Look at the first picture the entire mod had that color tone ...... That's why I didn't do the top.....

Now the next picture is what was hiding under that brown color on the first image.....

They just don't spend hours polishing a $300 mod......

To get results and colors you need to get into the Resin...... Polish your ass off and you will get results.....

And picture #3 are the real colors of the mod..... No messing with colors and no Photoshop.... That's the mod after 15 to 20 hours of polishing.

Wow, that looks stunning to say the least! The color pop is insane when you look at the pictures and compare it to the top.

This post has started making me look at stab wood mods in a whole new way. I wonder what beauty lies beneath the many stab wood mods I've seen. Especially those High End one's with rare/beautiful combinations. I do believe that if I had to give this a go on my JMFD which does seem to be looking a bit pale due to age, I might just be able to get some nice color pop going.

15-20 hours seems like a lot of time but it clearly pays off. Just wondering, would it have been possible to use one of those electric polishing tools? Maybe electric may cut shave off a few hours?

I need to watch some videos on this topic and learn a bit more. I can imagine quite a few mods are hiding some insane beauty beneath their pale looks.

Yeah watch YouTube videos... Not only on mods, but on Stabwood itself..... Pens and knife handles, how Stabwood is produced...... You can get amazing results and different quality.....

I find Asmodus and Viscious Ant have good wood and mainly because it's imported to the Phillipines or to China from the United States.....

They have a certain Amount of materials..... That's why their products cost more and you can tell on the colors and mixes of resin........

When you have a Stabwood mod...You have the only one that looks like that.....

Completely true. Although some come out so good or exotic species of wood. They mark them 1/1 or LE ETC. Often only these particular units are serialized. Although they are all unique.

So, I picked up 3x 21700 for it. Jerk had nerve to charge $25 each but it was my prerogative to shop there. Then he had further nerve to ask me for a tip! I said to him "eat my balls". He replied F-U. Really nice. Everyone here does not have them. I did not have enough time to order online before it arrived. Forgot. Can use 18650 tube but I find that to be a PITA.

I sincerely hope it is not cracked. I will not return to Wales but I will flame them. Seeing as they are in business a week I am sure that they do not care for. Use it as leverage for partial refund then. This one was more money because it was 1/1. I just really hope that is not a Damn crack I see. I cannot really tell and noticed it after it had already shipped. Otherwise that thing looks already polished? When I go polish it them maybe my eyeballs pop out LOL.

I liked the JM Bean Box but wood buttons without metal frame stink IMHO. You get a mush instead of a good click. I do not understand how fire button is where it is on Thor? There must be a cantilever inside? I figure Manny, you can guess at this since you know Engineering.

Also of interest. It seems most high end Mods are DNA75-C and not 250-C. Many not even "C=color".
It is fine I do not need more than 60W. Watch out 21700, 4800-5000MAH. Those are only 10 Amps and would prove very dangerous even in a 75W Mod

I can't order more right now. Wife does not care anymore what I do. When married this long. It is just I am getting nervous what I spent on these. Smoking way cheaper no doubt but unsafe and you do not collect cigarettes.

I was wondering what Pre-made tank is best now? Still Falcon? Wish I could RDTA but I cannot keep burdening my Great Grandson to build them. I could not even use the screw posts.

Even at 81 I am partial to Women :) I think taking that out of a purse(concealed) has almost the same effect as taking out a gun LOL but in a good way. It is the element of surprise there. With dudes what you see is what you get. Unless they have a Man purse, book bag ETC.

21700 was a bad move IMO. it packs less MAH than 26650 and is a tight fit in many chargers. Which can rip the wrapper. Since these are not spring loaded a ripped wrapper can spell Kaboom.

I can't wait until Tuesday when I get it.
Instead of Kodama why not get ThorII? It is fancier IMO.

Few drinks=soft wood! LOL. I much prefer hard wood which is what these all are to begin with HAHA.

I can't wait. Like a kid. If that thing is cracked going to unleash the Wrath of hell on them! I am not entirely sure, can't tell.
This actually cost me $$$. $305 for Mod with shipping from UK. Jerk ripped me off on 3 batteries. Plus now I need a larger charger to fit them!
At least charger is a store I frequent so he will make up for batteries. It is $45 charger I get for $20. Needed a better charger anyways.

I don't think those look like cracks- they look like black lines to me.

There are also some cracks if a mod has knots in the wood, usually where the wood meets the resin.......

But if there is a good quantity of resin and the wood was dry, the wood sucks it up like a sponge......

The Kodama in the picture has a total of (5) knots in the wood which is very rare.... The more knots the higher the quality of the wood......

So a mod with a lot of knots is usually very expensive....and hard to find.....

Chatted with Asmodus customer service about best product to use for polishing their stabwood mods.

They replied “lemon oil and beeswax”
If the Stabwood is not hand polished-micro sanded...

nothing will work..... I mean nothing.....

When you buy a wood mod from Asmodus it's delivered closed cell......

After you get rid of several layers and it becomes open cell it's when it will accept polishing...... By absorption of the polish into the open cells.....

Based on what you mentioned previously I already ordered the renaissance stuff and micro sand sheets. I’m looking forward to polishing them although I will admit I’m a bit nervous sanding a brand new $200 mod lol!

I just thought I’d share what I was told.

No such thing as cheap wood..... That wood mod will probably outlive most of us on Vaping Underground.....

As long as you keep her away from wood destroying insects........

Honestly I forgot I had it until I saw this thread. Its a good little kicker with the Dead Drop.

I swear I had another around here. Got them years ago of focalcig or fasttech.

ETA: I have some spruce beetle trees to cut down soon.

That is gorgeous!!!! Ok so EXACTLY how do I go about it. I received the micro mesh in the mail today. So tomorrow as I’m watching movies and hockey I use xxxxxx grade pad and “sand” for how long? How will I know when it’s enough for that level?

Also, when “sanding” how much pressure should be applied and is there a particular direction I should be sanding in or a circular motion? And am I dry sanding or wet? I’m going to assume dry but just want to confirm.

You know what I mean? I want ALL the details of how to do it.

Really appreciate the help from you guys. I’ve got some beautiful wood that’s just waiting to shine through the somewhat dull finish. And if I can get my stabwood mods to look half as good as yours then it’ll be worth the time and effort.

Thanks again  !!
