Hi Everyone, happy new year to you all. I have just got my vsticking mod and it is the best mod I have ever used so far. I have upgraded the firmware the mod and I was the same as you guys, I thought that it would enable me to use all of the SXI suite features, however, like someone has said above it only allows me to change the sliders on the left and not the drop down boxes on the right hand side of the sxi settings. Do you any of you know whether they maybe coming out with a further update to enable this feature or not?

Welcome aboard Mike

Hi and Welcome Mike-
Not sure if there will be another update to access the SXI suite down the road- I guess you could try to ask Vsticking on their FB page?
Still all in all a really nice mod for the price and since I am not a TC vaper, this mod is great for what I need.
Love the White Deity print on my and am so glad I took a chance and purchased the Vsticking 530!
What color did you get Mike?

Yeah I may send them message later and will let you know what they say. I agree the mod itself is really good and I am also just a regular wattage vaper so all is good for me and again like you say for the price its a steal on quality. I was first considering the white deity but ended up going for the black one but was thinking if I want to switch it up i can always get a wrap for from zap wrapz at some point.

The Black is very nice on the Vsticking- love the texture of the design.
@gsmit1 was kind enough to explain how to upgrade and to put our own pictures in the wallpaper- I use my dragon avatar on mine.
I am in the US and got mine from VapeNW for $59.99 free shipping so a great price for me to have my 1st YiHi mod- I have some 75w DNAs and I really like the battery life of the Vsticking!
There was a contest here on VU for a Vsticking and just fell in love with the Deity print- so when I didn't win, I had to buy one- LOL!
I see that there is now a similar to the Vsticking at an even better price- well I have seen this for $39.99 on another site.

I got mine when they very first came out and in the original version of the firmware the SXI-Q and settings areas of the PC software were not accessible at all. They released an update that allowed me to then access those 2 previously locked functions.

It wasn't that I needed them because everything they do can be done on the mod except for saving settings profiles. It wasn't even that I thought I might use them that much, as I said in a post earlier in this thread. I was happy to see them there for those who might and of course once available, and being a tech guy, I was sure I would play with them. I never actually attempted to sync the SXI-Q dialogs with my mod though because I hadn't really had a chance.

When @Vape Fan got his, he did try to sync them and found out that while the firmware update did make the dialogs accessible, they wouldn't sync. It turns out that VSticking, under orders from YIHI, has locked those areas in their firmware so as to maintain a greater difference between the SX530 chip and their higher end ones. The thinking is, "why would anybody buy their more expensive chips if they perceived no difference between them and their more budget minded ones.

There ARE differences, but for most people, including myself, they aren't great enough to induce me to pay 2 or 3 (or 4) times as much for a mod. YIHI sees locking those areas as a way to drive customers to their more expensive offerings.

The SX530 is still a great chip and the VK530 a great mod and has been in my daily rotation since I got it. I've been running a titanium build in my Hugsvape Lotus RTA on it the last few weeks and with some TCR twiddling it is fantastic.

I don't know, the Pioneer4U mod just doesn't do it for me though. Seems cheaper.

I agree I was scared of bricking the mod- yes the vaping dragon looks cool and love that I can customize this mod!
I also love the looks of the Vsticking too!
Love your graffiti print too!
Thanks for all your help with upgrading and personalizing the Vsticking mod! :blowkiss:

Oh you're welcome :)

It was almost as much of a thrill for me to see it all work out for you to have your avatar on the screen as it was for you.

Now that I've gotten really familiar with it, it IS a very fine mod and well worth the money.

The vsticking vk530 is a death trap!!! Had it on my desk at work and out of corner of my eye I saw the screen wake up and thought “that’s strange.” Then the damned thing started firing and scared me half to death. I grabbed the mod and unscrewed the atty, took the batteries out and put it aside. I wanted to see if it would do it again and I put batteries back in and waited. Nothing happened so I forgot about it and got back to work. Ten minutes later it started firing on its own again. I’ll never put another pair of batteries in that mod again. That’s a MAJOR defect. Efun won’t even refund me because I don’t have video evidence but the mod fires by itself at random, I’d have to sit there with a camera on it all day.

Auto-firing is bad and I'm sorry you got a defective one, but every company will have a specimen here and there that does it and in the case of the Pulse Dual there was a whole bunch for instance. It doesn't mean the company or the model is universally bad as much as we wish that mass produced products never had defective specimens.

Also, most places want a video because if they handed out new ones every time somebody claimed something like this, ANYbody could say ANYthing and they'd be dealing with false claims all the time.

I've never dealt with 3F, but trying to set up a way to get them a video is the first step.

It's a long story, but I spend a lot of time online and yours is the first instance of this issue with this mod I've seen. Spend some time on other forums and you'll never want to buy another vape product again. It's always something with something. Still the percentages are quite low overall.

I once had a cosmetic issue with the display on a MOD and a picture alone showed the problem but they requested a video. Sent a video and they warrantied it no questions asked. In my case a video wasn't required to show the problem but it wasn't really too much to ask with everyone having a smartphone.

Maybe you’re right but I’ve owned literally hundreds of mods and have never seen anything like this. I’ve had fire buttons on mods get stuck but waking itself up and then firing while it’s just sitting on my desk? You know what’s funny? Thinking back there was one time this may have happened to me before. Years ago I was driving and my ipv 5 started firing in the cup holder. I had assumed the fire button must have pressed against something but there was really nothing there. I didn’t think much of it at the time. Perhaps not coincidentally, that mod also used a modified version of the YiHi chipset .

Auto-firing is not super common, but is a thing. Like I say, looking over other discussion boards, it comes up with at least some regularity. Just like what you describe. Screen comes on and it starts firing. Exactly like pressing the fire button. Not saying they don't exist, but this is the first time I've heard of an instance with a YIHI device.

Also, while not impossible, it's almost certainly not the chip. Microprocessors are the very definition of "solid state." There are no moving parts to be jostled or even moved to cause an unintended closed circuit. As smart as they appear, they are ultimately very dumb. They do what they're told.

A mod fires when a physical moving part closes the circuit. That is a mechanical and not an electronic process.

If it were mine, I'd tap the bottom corners around on some solid object to see if I could get it to auto-fire. If I could catch it auto-firing, I'd tap it around to see if I could get it to stop. If either one of those works, it's definitely a dodgy connection somewhere that may be fixable.

Thanks, when I get a chance I will poke around. No sense in paying to ship it back to China as I got it on sale for like $39.99 so may as well tinker. Was planning to try to upgrade the firmware and see if that helps but what you’re saying regarding the unlikelihood of the issue being chip related makes sense. One thing though, the theory that some kind of force/jostling randomly closed the circuit is seemingly contradicted by the fact that it had been sitting on my desk completely still for at least 10 minutes before it woke itself up and fired. I do appreciate your help though thanks.

In my experience with a Chinese Vendor they never asked to ship it back once I supplied the video. I mean if you are going to tinker, sit ready to capture the video or just leave it recording while you are doing something close by.

Does anyone still have the Firmware installation program for the VSticking VK530? The one from VSticking or any other Windows software that works? I downloaded the Firmware from VSticking a while back, but they didn't have the software for it. Seems that VSticking came out of nowhere, made this one Mod and has since disappeared. Their website no longer exists. I'm just now getting around to trying the Firmware upgrade, but can't find the software to do it. YiHi's website has no mention of the SX530 Chip and a search for it there yields nothing. I haven't tried asking YiHi yet, but maybe someone here can save me the trouble.

I can give you my email address in PM, but if it's too big to sent as a single file email attachment, there are programs that can Split them into appropriate sized pieces and Join them back together. This would mean multiple emails.

HJSplit is the one I used to use and it's Free...

If it's needed and you have a Splitter/Joiner that you like better, please tell me which one it is and where you found it.

Thanks in advance

I have the files on my server still, but I'm having a serious onsite problem with the machine itself which is in another part of town. I'm not sure how long it will take me to get it up and running again :(

I still love this mod btw. I have 2. I know Snapdragon NY had a problem with a bit of parasitic drain with hers. For whatever reason I never did.

I do with one of my SX Mini G-Class though :D Although it takes a couple weeks.

My man! That's it :)
This VK530 FW appears to only be the .sxi Firmware file. I can't install it without the .msi installer. When I try to run the .sxi, Adobe Acrobat Reader tries to open it. Do you know of a YiHi installer that will work with it? I tried their SXi-v2.8.6.6-Setup-2018-06-11-1443-English.msi, but it didn't work. These .msi files seem to be device/chip specific.

I had the drain too. And the screen went dark long ago. Sometimes it will light up for a couple seconds. Thought about finding a replacement screen. Think Ill see if I can flash it, as long as during, I don't have to do anything on the screen...

I wonder if another sx board will fit in there, because I like the box.

The only issue I've had is with TC. There's a weird problem with the cotton turning very dark, even with colorless, clear juices. It always starts one particular side of the cotton on the same coil every time, not matter the wire type, meaning the round wire gauge or flat wire dimensions, then expands to the other side and then to both coil's cotton. The tank is the Steam Crave Glaz RTA V2, 30mm base, 10ml capacity, dual coil, which has a glass dome chimney, so I can always see both coils and the cotton. It's pretty cool. This is the only Mod I have that it fits on and looks good. This Firmware is supposed to address TC, and that's why I want it.

I'm sorry friend. I spent the last half hour playing with mine and the SX-IQ program starts, connects and then shuts down.
It's been forever and several infernal Windows updates since I last had one connected to a PC. I'm sure it's a windows thing, but I don't know if it's fixable right now. The YIHI app is 4 years old.

Dark juice usually means you're not getting enough heat. Assuming you're not getting burnt flavor. With this mod, raise the TCR a little at a time for what metal you're using.

Actually if it's titanium you can raise it like 40 points if I remember right.

For 316L try going to 110 or 112.

I had been using 108, 112 and sometimes higher, but I recently turned it down to 92 with other RTAs and RBAs and that has worked pretty good. I figured it might be a Windows 10 thing. This installation program would start, but clicking any buttons/options seemed to lock it up after going to that screen and I couldn't get back to the main screen and it wouldn't connect. Didn't seem to even try. I might try installing Windows 7 or I may have an older Windows 7 PC I can try it on. If that works, I'll let you know. Give me some time to try it. Thanks for the note!!!

OK, the reason that SXi-v2.8.6.6-Setup-2018-06-11-1443-English.msi didn't work is because it's for the SX550J Chip (it shows as 550J), which is the SXmini G Class. Digging around in different options after not being able to Navigate and go back to the Main menu, so closing it and restarting it each time, the Information menu told me that. The YiHi website doesn't say that, only the download name (which I modified a bit to make the date easier to read).

1653619066245.png

SXmini X Class is not it, I'm sure, so I'll do the YiHi "Contact Us" thing to see if they have a .msi and .sxi files for the VSticking VK530. I already search the web for yihi-vsticking-sxi.msi and every variation I could think of and couldn't find it, so unless someone knows of a different name it may go by somewhere, this will be my and our last hope. If YiHi has them or at least the .msi, I give the link(s) or find a way to share it. I never had much luck with sharing things from my Google Docs, but if it comes to that, others who know how to do it better can help me with that.

Vape Fan's is only the Firmware. I found a SXmini G Class Firmware Upgrade Tutorial by DJLsb Vapes for the SXmini G Class. He shows how to check the Firmware version, and I already have V1.161. My Mod came with it.

I know you're happy that you got your Server working again! That's Amazing!!! The HERE shortcut didn't work, but I copied the link and got the file. I installed yihi-vsticking-sxi.msi and noticed that it's the same one I downloaded from YiHi; V2.8.6.6. I had some issues with it and made comments in your Instructions...

Install, connection and wallpaper.

1. Run the yihi-vsticking-sxi.msi install file following all the offered options.

2. Remove the atomizer from your device and power it down.

3. Use a Micro USB cable to physically connect the mod to an available usb port on the PC.

4. Launch the SXI program by double clicking on the SXI shortcut now on your desktop.

5- The first time it may or may not default to the "Connection" area of the program suite. If it doesn't, then click the blue "Connection" button.

6- If it doesn't connect, click the blue rectangular "Install Driver" button and follow the self explanatory onscreen instructions. When it's done, you may or may not have to click connect again, but it will establish a connection either way.

- To "Install Driver," I have to disconnect the Mod after clicking on Install Driver, Power it On and reconnect it with the USB cable to get it to recognize the Mod as 530, then click "Install SXi USB Driver," but SXI closes itself in the background almost immediately with the Mod turned On, and it did Install the Driver, but it won't Connect or let me do anything else with the Mod turned Off. With the Mod turned On, SXI closes itself within seconds. I can't do anything else, either with the Mod turned Off or On. There is no Atty attached! I tried things with the batteries Out, but I got nothing that way. You're supposed to be able to do this with a G Class, but it doesn't work with this Mod.

- What is "SXi-DriverStartup" supposed to do?

(If Windows pops up a scary message about the device not being recognized, just close and ignore it. It's nothing to worry about.)

Clicking the blue and black "SXI" button right above where it says "Return" will take you back to the homescreen at any time. Click that.

----------------------------------------------

To upload wallpaper:
For this you may have to turn the device back On.

- Turning the Mod On closes SXI within seconds.

1. Click on the "Custom" button. If it launches the logo maker, just close it from the X in the upper right hand corner of the window. Sometimes it makes you do this a few times. Don't ask me why, but I'll figure it out :)

- This may be because this Software wasn't designed for the VSticking VK530. Did this Software come from VSticking or YiHi? Again, it looks like the same one I downloaded from YiHi; V2.8.6.6. When I look at the Information page, it says 550J, but I'm not Connected.

- I cannot get the "Logo Maker" screen to stop coming back every time. With the Mod turned On, SXI closes itself within seconds. Do you think I should try it on Windows Vista?

2. Click on preview on any of the wallpaper numbers on the left and it will show up ON THE MOD. Not the software. this is a preview to let you decide which one you want to replace.

- I cannot get to "Preview" or any "Wallpaper" screen to Preview anything. It may be a procedural thing for any part(s) of this, but nothing I've tried has worked, except "Install Driver." Maybe Windows Vista would work?

3. Click "Open File" and point the dialog at the JPG picture file you want to replace that one with. It will display in the "Wallpaper Preview" box in the middle of the window.

4. Click replace wallpaper number on the right, corresponding with the one you decided you wanted to replace on the mod. You'll see a yellow progress bar go across the bottom indicating that the file is uploading.

5. When it's done, you can close the software, disconnect the mod, and choose the wallpaper you just uploaded from the menus on the device if it didn't do it automatically during the upload.

Any advice would be appreciated! I already have V1.161, but I'd like to be able to do the Wallpaper and maybe make my own. Do you know what the dimensions for Wallpaper are?

I asked Yihi if they had the Software for this Chip (before knowing about yours) and if there were any Firmware Upgrades for the SX530 that are newer than V1.161. I they reply with any help, I'll let everyone know.

That's the thing about data. If it's not backed up, you WILL lose it.

Plus I wouldn't put 18TB's of Important Data on 1 HDD. That is why redundancy works for me and then you set up a RAID Array to back up the Back Up~!

Wanna hear something weird? The Instructions showed me how to Navigate the menus back and forth, so I tried again on the old Windows Vista computer. The only way to get anything to work is by turning On the Mod. I'd click on Connection and then Install Driver, because Connect didn't work. It seemed to install the driver at some point, but not after, it would timeout and fail and wouldn't try again, but below Install Driver, Connect displayed Device connected. Woot! Information displays...

Woot! Custom opens on the first try and I can view the 5 images on the Mod's screen. Woot! I don't care about the Setting menu as I do all of that on the Mod and I don't SXi-Q works on this Mod. But all of this was with the Internet unplugged. When I plugged it In to try to make something work that didn't, I thought maybe it needed Internet, and SXI closed immediately.

So I took it back to my Windows 10 PC and tried it all there again, but with the Internet unplugged. Same as before, I had to turn the Mod On to do anything, Install Driver Timed out and failed and wouldn't try again, but lo and behold, SXI stayed open and running when I plugged the Internet In. Woot! Kind of freaky that the Mod has to be turned On, but whatever works. Right?

Now I'd like to ask what Resolution image and Type (JPG, GIF, etc.) works best for a new background picture? I like the clock-looking one with the Wattage/Joules dial that goes up and back down, but I'd like to experiment with new pictures. Also, do you know if the original pictures can be saved Off?

Thanks for everything, guys!

PS:
If YiHi gets back to me with a Firmware Upgrade newer than 1.161, I'll let you know. Still no reply yet, but maybe on Monday or not long after.
