I received this email yesterday from one of our vendors, Vapor Authority. And it about made me sick. It definitely made me angry.

Our Commitment to Helping Children in Need.

Dear Newsletter Subscriber,

As mentioned throughout our 12-Day Christmas Sale, Vapor Authority was firmly committed to donating $10,000 to The Children's Health Fund. Your unwavering support helped us reach our goal, and on December 20th, we initiated a $10,000 wire to the organization.

To our great surprise and bewilderment, on December 21st, we received an email from Dennis Walto, the Chief Executive Office of The Children's Health Fund. The email stated:

"With this communication, I am letting you know that Children's Health Fund cannot accept your recent donation. Our team will be in touch to reverse the wire transfer."

Truly dumbfounded, we immediately contacted the charity to inquire as to why our donation was rejected. We were told that due to our industry, the organization cannot accept our donation. They claimed that since Children's Health Fund is an organization devoted to aiding children's health, accepting funds from a company that sells electronic cigarettes is not something they can do.

As a result, we were forced to identify another charity dedicated to helping children to whom we can donate. After careful consideration, we selected the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the recipients of the contribution. We submitted $10,000 to the organization on December 28th, and have received our certificate of contribution, which we would like to share with you.

Please see the image of our certificate below.

Vapor Authority would like to sincerely thank all of you for helping us reach our target, and in turn, lending a hand to children in need from around the country!

Geez that saddened you?

What saddens me is that we spend all our money paying for wars we can’t afford instead of colonizing the stars.

So The Children's Health Fund accepts contributions from Walmart (which sells vapes and CIGARETTES) but it won't take a vape donation? What hypocrisy!Walmart and vapes.jpg

And they also profit from child labor and unethical labor practices and practically destroying the US manufacturing economy, but they’re money’s good. Real scrupulous, this Children’s Health Fund.

Well of course, a six figure ( or more ) donation makes swallowing their indignation a lot more palatable.

ETA: I think Red Nose Day is sponsored by Walgreens too if I'm not mistaken. They sell ecigs also, I bought a couple of the Blu kits there when they were so cheap.

That isn’t thier sole trade ....Nor is Samsung who’s batteries we use in vape products

I appreciate their rationale, got to draw a line somewhere and like Huck said it’s still gone to a good cause for the kids

There are plenty of ways to give to support children, and plenty of children's charities...so thanks for letting us know that maybe this particular charity has its focus on politics a little too much.

I received the same email and yes it's sad but it is likely they would have refused a donation from any BT company as well. My personal belief is that they should accept all donations given with an open hand, ultimately it is up to the board how they proceed.

I had something similar to come up this past year in trying to help organize a fundraiser in my town...Well, since I rode in and wearing my colors I was deemed a gang member. I'm totally the opposite. With that being said some places just don't truly care about donations as much as they care about what makes them look better on TV. Tells us the public who to give donations for. Make A Wish has a field in our local park for children and are truly a great charity organization. Can't say that about many though...:)

Wow! That's just ridiculous that they would rather see children suffer than to take a substantial donation from the vape community.

Charity foundations have to keep aware of how they are perceived by the donating public unfortunately. Vaping is getting a bad rap and they were forced to weigh public perception against need. That is what saddened me. No charity should have to make that difficult decision.

Yeah this is exactly what I meant by having to draw a line ..just protecting themselves from the nutters on the other side who cry they got money from vaping

There's a twist to my story. Actually quite dang funny. It's our Humane Society here. Well there's 5 of us that's been cutting grass, doing odds and ends, building stuff, hanging cabinets as of late last Sunday, bringing in supplies, you understand the deal. We've been doing our own volunteer as we get calls to help them. Well, the director seems to love me...I told her who I was last week, didn't remember me. She tried to say that she had no one to approach her this year!!! She lied! I think sometimes people just don't care to look deeper at helping hands. Vaping is not like a well known cig company...two opposites until the word gets pushed more and more. Until my dad heard it from my surgeon that vaping was ok for me, he wanted to listen to the naysayers and believe them...I'm sure if Budweiser had given them a $1M check that attitude would certainly be different...;)

Its sad for sure but definitely understood, the firearms industry runs into this all the time. They have to do direct action work and select charities that are pro second amendment.

For the right price, anything's possible. I wanna torture a panda. How much would that be? Like, with a hot iron stick?

Thats not crazy talk either. There is probably a panda torture service out there. People peddle in whatever creates $$$ no matter how evil, obscure or otherwise disgusting.
