I've seen some swear by those organic cotton pads from Amazon that say "makeup" on them but who knows about the "discs" you have.
I think wick made for vaping is cheap enough and a wide variety of even just cotton, if that's what your after.

You might also consider specially cut & processed quartz. Seen a fella using it once. Never tried it myself as it costs a good penny to get it. Guy swore by it explaining he didn't waste money on wick, the quartz released juice evenly to his coils. If he changed flavors, just rinse the quartz off & put it back in the coil/s.
I like Muji cotton that Fast Tech carries. Here is the bulk pack of it & here's the five pack. I have also used rayon attained from Infinite Wicks on Ebay. Think I got 5 (or was it 15) meters of it from them for around 4/5 bucks, which I didn't consider too expensive.
The pads which i have are Septona, it says that they are made out of 100% cotton, but doesn't mention if it has been treated with bleach.

The Koh Gen Do pads are what many people were using before cotton bacon came along.
If you check youtube for "Scottish Roll" you will see the different brands of pads the youtube reviewers were using.

They are 100% cotton so you will be alright.
I'm sure many people reading this thread have used regular cotton balls before.
We used to use silica.
It can't be worse than silica.
Another oddity used for wick, twisted steel cable. Not at all sure how that worked. I kind of figured it wouldn't do too well as it risked oh say shorting, draining out a battery, getting seriously gunk-ed up.

No. It's more than likely bleached and processed. I saw this post the other day and looked at the pads I use for doing gel manicures. I wouldn't. The ones I have are indented and therefore machined somehow. Never know what was on the machine like oil traces, unclean environment, etc.
Worst case scenerio would be Walgreens organic if in case of no cotton and stuck. Otherwise there are plenty of organic cotton versions that are ok for vaping. I personally only use Cotton Bacon. You can find it on sale or included in online orders for the most part. Stock up and keep it in a dry environment. I OCD allot and put mine in an extra ziplock. Just me. ...
I wouldn't trust many beauty supply places since I've seen their orders come in with every other product in the same box. Just wouldn't chance it. Walgreens would be in a supplier box more than likely. Not like chemicals and cotton together at say Sally Beauty Supply.
